How about some love for that fantastic Bassist and Guitarist ? Great job, Frank, great blowing! I am a student and friend of Joe’s, this brings back so many great memories. I first met Joe through Sal Salvador, who was my boss for three years - I worked in his trio, quartet, and the Crystal Image group
It's fascinating to follow the high hat during the solo - no matter what else he is doing it's steady as a clock, and the loudness is modulated perfectly. He's my favorite drummer to actually listen to.
Yes Joe was a supreme human being . Very funny , kind , genuine and deeply caring . I probably will post the entire clinic / performance . Joe did work in clubs with this trio plus Ralph Lalama . Joe Morello was a dear friend and taught in my store . There is some footage somewhere of him , Butch Milfes and Jim Chapin delivering the message as only they could . He is greatly missed ....more to come of the Master's studies
Excellent job bringing us this, Frank. You are doing a tremendous job! I was a student of JM's and I did a few drum demonstrations with him. Also with Louie Bellson and Jim Chapin. When I first met Joe in the 70's, I told him that when I was a boy, I started using "Ludwig" drums, not because of Ringo... but because of HIM! He was touched by that, and never forgot that. So musical... Again-- thank you, Frank. Great job.
No se si esto se puede considerar una bossa o no pero lo que hace Morello es maravilloso. MUSICA con letras mayusculas. Vale ya, de los ayatolas que dicen lo que es autentico y lo que no.
Hugo that's the name of the song . It was a Jazz interpretation which is uniquely American . Joe could play for the context and this wasn't Carnival .PleeeeeEasy
Gracias.
That's kind of jerky of you to say with what point added .This bass player and guitarist have played with many Jazz Greats including being Joe's choice in his Quartet at the time with sax player Ralph Lalama from Buddy Rich ,Thad and Mel added. Btw you can also check out Timmy ,the bass player with Jimmy Page yes from Led Zeppelin.. Versatility. in my dear friend's memory I know that Joe wouldn't want anything negative put on him or his creative choices. I would add particularly without him with us to explain .He was completely dedicated to teaching ,sharing his wisdom and playing experience He didn't ever take that lightly Kindly Respect his place in the drumming Kingdom .Royalty ☮️🥁🎵
Soryyy.... It's not bossa nova pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!.... should be "american bossa nova for export".. I love to Mr. Morello. My prefer drummer the all the times, but.... please.. try to play brazilian rhytms... okey?.. thanks a lot.
Escuche BOSSA NOVA USA. Es una interpretación jazzistica de un tema de Joe Henderson y como bien dice Frank bajo el prisma del mundo del jazz. Es autentico Morello, gracias por publicar estos videos. THANKS!!!
no need to be arrogant .This is a Jazz interpretation. Are you educated in Joe's history and contribution to the Art .When he played with Brubeck he was playing odd meter jazz .No one accused him of not playing Greek or Indian Music or Stravinsky incorrectly .Context ! This wasn't music for dancing ..C' Mon man respect his place and as a master here elder statesman .Your ego is showing . Drumming COMMUNITY shared wisdom .✌🥁🎶🎵
...MAGNIFICO!!!!!!!!!!
Phénoménal drummer !!!!
I called him the greatest drummer of all time on my radio show this morning. Meant it. Did my monolog on the passing of Eugene Wright.

Different timings going on with each limb
Joe was truly one of the best jazz drummers on the planet 🌍
Such a gentle touch; what a musician.
Now, that's music on drums.
The Master! :D

No one will ever touch their talents.
The Master at work.

drum roll ,,,,,the best
Will you post the entire video? This footage is very rare as most of Joe's clinics were not taped.
This man is the coolest most musical cat I have ever seen .
Aspiring drummers: if you don't know who Joe Morello is, you've got the wrong instructor.

Sounds good and is a delight to listen to - is there anything else that matters?
It’s not authentic bossa nova because Joe (my teacher and friend) was from Springfield, MA, not Rio de Janeiro! Sheez what a putz
