I remembered her being on the reality competition for Grease. The first time I heard her I knew she would be something big on Broadway. I was only seven years old and she became one of my biggest idols.
Such a beautiful song. Such a beautiful show. Such a beautiful vocalist. Thank you for this song, Laura. Bandstand is such a touching show, and even though it's closing, it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Lyrics: Calendars I fill crossing off the days, Trying to distract myself in countless little ways. Holidays alone left to reminisce. My imagination had to stand in for your kiss. Oceans you once crossed, now they disappear. Continents of longing vanish, Soon you will be here. And my heart keeps racing. My thoughts keep fraying. But, today I'll hold you and not stop saying... Welcome home my dear, Welcome home my sweet! Welcome home my hero, Welcome home my heart! Welcome home, Welcome home, Welcome home. And the telegram, promising you'll land Safely back at home today, Held tightly in my hand. Outside in the yard snow begins to fall, Whiting out the distance making everything feel small. From the picture window, where I sit and stare, Is it really you who's turned the corner there? Starting for the doorway, as I call your name, Desperate to believe our life will be the same. Welcome home my dear, Welcome home my sweet! Welcome home my hero, Welcome home my heart! Welcome home! Welcome home! Welcome home! All the sleepless nights praying you'd return, Safely to my arms with all the honour that you've earned. Letters every day sent to reassure, Knowing all the dangers with the duties of the tour. Now our wait has ended, Our years of yearning. And I'm at my doorway, My love returning. Welcome home! Welcome home my hero! Welcome home my heart! Welcome home, Welcome home! Welcome home my dear! Welcome home my sweet! Welcome home my hero, Welcome home my heart! Welcome home, Welcome home! Welcome home!
Laura and this cast have brought so much honor to our veterans in this absolutely incredible show. I don't think I'll ever tire of listening to its soul-stirring music. What a beautiful rendition. Every time I flew up to New York to see Bandstand it was pure Broadway magic. I really hope it's recorded/preserved in some way!!
I am so sorry that Bandstand has closed. Every number got a loud round of applause. There is one piece of dialogue referencing that the true Heroes were those who didntbmake it back got Thunderous applause from the audience. I hope this fine musical finds its way back to a Broadway stage soon!!!
clairelundin this show is designed to tour, closing on Broadway will open it up for regional productions, which means the message gets spread that much further, touching more and more lives. I honestly think this will become a classic this way
Jacquith Porter that's very true and a valid point. I'm just sad the original run didn't go longer but I definitely agree the message needs to be spread.
I like this better than the original one. Speaks more of the truth of what we as love ones left behind are going through when we have to say goodbye to our service member as they serve their country.
THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING EVER. MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE LISTENED TO IT 3 TIMES IN A ROW AND COUNTING.... My profile pic at the moment was at bandstand at PMP and I don't ever wanna change it😭😢 Bandstand don't close. Pppllleasse
I haven't seen it, but Oberacker said in the description of this video "Christine Hudman covers "Welcome Home" from the Broadway musical BANDSTAND. This is the full length version of the song with the complete "romantic" lyric, heard only partially in the actual musical. This special arrangement premiered at The Smith Center Gala as a 'stand alone' version to be performed outside the original musical.": ruclips.net/video/Lq8WtBsTBnM/видео.html So I think you are right!
I haven't seen the show either, but from what I've heard the romantic lyrics are a censored version that the band can perform for the public, then they return to the original poem for the finale. Thats why Donny starts singing the finale lyrics before they move into the romantic ones.
@@michaelahewitt-clarke3779 You are correct. Julia only intended it to be a gift to Donny and the guys, but Donny put it to music anyway, while knowing that they couldn't perform the song as written. I saw it at a live filmed production at and AMC Theater in Forney last Thursday, so the plot is still fresh in my head.

this makes me think of my grandparents. My grandmother counted the days till my grandfather would come back to her when WWII ended. He survived the war but died just a few years later from cancer. they were the loves of each other's lives. My mother was two when he died. Grandma never got over him and she would tell me stories about his service in the war (He was in the navy) and how every night she prayed he survived and they would live their lives together. this is a wonderful song that greatly depicts the emotions of a nation at war.
+windmillsofyourmind2 Just because they have more Tonys doesn't mean they're any better. Accolades aren't everything. I personally didn't like Dear Evan Hansen and I wasn't crazy about Hello Dolly either. Those are just my opinions
A lot of people would agree with you...it really does suck to watch masterpieces like this and The Great Comet to have left broadway. Musical theatre though is heading into a new direction though and I’m not sure if I’m a big fan...like I like DEH and Heathers but those are shows I could’ve gone without them. Yet, it’s musical like those that bring in the money so they’ll be around for a long time.
GIVE THIS WOMAN A TONY NOW. Seriously. Laura Osnes is my favourite Broadway singer. She pours so much honesty, emotion and yet so much vocal brilliance into every single song. 😍❤😭
I just saw the Bandstand filmed performance presented by Fathom Events over a week ago. Laura Osnes does have a stunning voice! And this song was one of the standouts in the show. Just one more day until 4th of July
Goosebumps all around. I agree that Laura Osnes is a gift for Broadway and that such a captivating musical can't abandon the Great White Way so prematurely. Did they film it?
I got to see Bandstand at the Papermill Playhouse before it left for Broadway and besides Les Mis, I don't think I have ever cried so much during a show. They really need to do a recording of the show to share with the world.
First I wanted sheet music of Love Will Come And Find Me Again and Welcome Home Finale, and now I want sheet music of this as well. I love Bandstand so much! 🎷🎹📻🎙🎶
anyone who's curious about where to get the sheet music for this version (like I was) It is in the Bandstand Vocal Selections piano book on Samuel French/Concord Theatricals website :) I bought it and can confirm!
UHM OKAY SO THIS SHOW REALLY DOESN'T DESERVE TO CLOSE I HAVE CRIED SO MUCH ABOUT IT CLOSING. I was saving up to go see this show with my brother since before it was even in previews on Broadway. I'd finally raised enough money to afford plane tickets to New York, tickets to the show, money for food, and a hotel (Which was crazy difficult for me to do since I'm 13 and can't get an actual job to earn money😂) and I kid you not, THE EXACT SAME WEEK, THEY ANNOUNCED THAT THE SHOW WAS CLOSING AND TICKET PRICES WENT UP AND I COULD NO LONGER AFFORD TO GO SEE IT. And I cried long and hard about it.
Laura Osnes is one of the best singers on broadway. I can listen to her sing forever. Such heart and honesty in the way she sings. love it
emmamuuusic ❤️ and such a smooth effortless feel
I would say the same thing if I lived in NYC but I live in California
Her talent is unfair, what a POWERFUL voice, dang.
How has Laura Osnes not won a tony yet????
Seriously tho
I remembered her being on the reality competition for Grease. The first time I heard her I knew she would be something big on Broadway. I was only seven years old and she became one of my biggest idols.
I agree she at least should have been nominated for this show.
her acting :/
She’s been nominated twice!!! I think she should have won for Bonnie and Clyde. Or gotten a nom for this
Such a beautiful song. Such a beautiful show. Such a beautiful vocalist.
Thank you for this song, Laura. Bandstand is such a touching show, and even though it's closing, it will always hold a special place in my heart.

sam26tx Did you see the filmed performance last June? Because I did. Happy 9/11 by the way
band stand can't leave. CRYING.
Jordan Walker Far away at Hong Kong where I live, my friend and I are gonna sing a bunch of Bandstand songs this weekend as tribute 😭😭😭
I am so sorry that Bandstand has closed. Every number got a loud round of applause. There is one piece of dialogue referencing that the true Heroes were those who didntbmake it back got Thunderous applause from the audience. I hope this fine musical finds its way back to a Broadway stage soon!!!
I want a tour!!!!!!
This is my first time ever hearing Bandstand and I'm already crying
There's such a warmth to her voice, it just makes you happy :) this is truly beautiful. Thank you Laura
Well said
I've seen better musicals than Bandstand (no insult intended) but I have been wanting to see something with Laura Osnes for a while.
Laura sings like an angel and she always seems like a really nice person.
She is! I posted some Bonnie and Clyde fan art I drew and she made the nicest comment on it! Not like I’ve met her in person, but it was super nice!
I could listen to this forever and never get tired of it
THIS WOMAN DESERVES A TONY. I am so sad bandstand is closing... how is bandstand closing and spongebob opening?!?!?! I'm confused
RIGHT? it's an injustice honestly
Because people have bad taste in musicals. I couldn't see Bandstand before it closed, I regret it so much.
Bandstand is probably going to become one of those cult classics that people wonder years later how it closed so soon.
Actually if you've gotten a peek at the new SpongeBob Musical is not that horrible.
jessica lee that’s exactly what i said ugh i love bandstand so much
This is so amzing and Laura osnes's emotion while singing is so moving and breathtaking
This show is closing much too soon. It deserved a longer run; such beautiful music and such a talented cast.
clairelundin this show is designed to tour, closing on Broadway will open it up for regional productions, which means the message gets spread that much further, touching more and more lives. I honestly think this will become a classic this way
Jacquith Porter that's very true and a valid point. I'm just sad the original run didn't go longer but I definitely agree the message needs to be spread.
Jacquith Porter I do hope we get a tour
This show doesn't deserve to close😭😭
Abi Alston When is it closing?! I just saw it in July and I haven't heard about this until now!
this sunday
I don't know much about romance, but I know one thing: if a girl would ever sing this for me, I'd probably marry her on the spot!
I wouldn't rush into romance but it would be wonderful if a girl sang to me.
I like this better than the original one. Speaks more of the truth of what we as love ones left behind are going through when we have to say goodbye to our service member as they serve their country.
laura never fails to amazing. honestly. yes she sounds this good live. yes she's this phenomenal in reality.
Pppllleasse
so sweet ugh so beautiful. love the alt. lyrics
StripesofShay I've heard this is the full poem that Julia gives Donny to put music to! Parts of it are heard in Welcome Home (not the finale)
Grace I thought the poem that Julia gave Donny was the finale
I haven't seen it, but Oberacker said in the description of this video "Christine Hudman covers "Welcome Home" from the Broadway musical BANDSTAND. Never get tired of Laura Osnes singing this song.. So beautiful and awe-inspiring! Stunning!
Yes!!! I've been waiting for this since Laura's Instagram story!
Laura, you beautiful human being. You are too precious, beautiful, talented for this world. We all adore you.
This show is so powerful and moving and amazing and doesn't deserve to close im crying
Now that's powerful singing.
The key change and ending just slapped me in the face but I'm very thankful it did
Gosh, I wish there was an instrumental track for this version of the song! I like this ballad a little better than the original big band style.
Laura Osnes is so beautiful and talented. Bandstand might end its run but I know there are great things coming for her.
She should do either a musical on the big screen in Hollywood or on LIVE TV.
I LITERALLY GOT CHILLS. Bandstand is such an amazing show, thank you for everything.
Such a gorgeous musical, both story and music wise. Such a shame that it's closing so soon. At least we have another gem to listen to on repeat

It's like listening to an angel. Your voice is so amazing and you are so beautiful. Love you❤️

My grandfather from my mother's side serve in the war too. But my mom was not born until 1959. She just turned 59 this past month.
this is a song that we all need to hear. It captures the spirit of homecoming and what that means.
Absolute perfection. Laura Osnes never ceases to amaze me!
Playbill just announced that Bandstand will go on tour/off broadway!!!!!!
Catherine Tudor I hope it happens. Because I want to take my mom to see the show
The Great Comet and now this? Why do they only close the best shows?
+windmillsofyourmind2

now Anastasia too - they all get so little time...
don't get me started on Great Comet. That show was ROBBED.
Crying just as hard now as I did in the theatre when she sang the OBC version.... chills
laura is so beautiful and talented. i love her
They need to release a version of this because it's absolutely beautiful.
GIVE THIS WOMAN A TONY NOW. Seriously. Laura Osnes is my favourite Broadway singer. She pours so much honesty, emotion and yet so much vocal brilliance into every single song. 😍❤😭
She should have given a nomination for this show at least.
Such a beautiful, heart-wrenching song. It's so sad that Bandstand is closing. I hope they film the show so it can be enjoyed for years to come
Nicely sung Laura!
was hoping this to be the (finale) one but this one great too!
such an amazing actress and song. This show deserves so much more.
I think I’ve just listened to this about 100 times at work and wish I could get this version off iTunes!
THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL
Maya Ongchangco N2N!
Next to Normal has the most emotionally energetic set of songs I heard in a musical tied with Rent.
I just saw the Bandstand filmed performance presented by Fathom Events over a week ago. Laura Osnes does have a stunning voice! And this song was one of the standouts in the show. Just one more day until 4th of July
Devastated this isn't available on YTMusic 😭 I would listen to this on repeat all the time!
This is a beautiful song
Laura was amazing in the show so sad to see such an amazing show close
LAURA IS A QUEEN!! Im sooo sad bandstand is closing tomorrow 😫
I want to be her!!!😫❤️❤️
I will definitely miss this show. So touching, and I'm so sad that it's closing. I actually can't get over how good this was, and how upset I am.
I love this musical and the story is amazing
1 year later. It’s in theaters for a second time! And I’ve seen it both times. It’s beautiful!
I’ve only seen it one time
This show was so underrated and ahead of its time, it better be revived in 10 years become the next big musical like wicked or hamilton or something
3 years and I still haven't seen Hamilton. I guess we will never know
This song is a masterpiece
This is so lovely! I've never listened to anything from Bandstand.
Amazing 😫🥰❤️
these lyrics makes me wanna cry, god they're beautiful
Every moment is beautiful.
Goosebumps all around. I agree that Laura Osnes is a gift for Broadway and that such a captivating musical can't abandon the Great White Way so prematurely. Did they film it?
Emanuele Valla they are showing it this week at select theatres
Audrey Robertson I saw it and it was very good
I can't decide whether i love this romantic version more or the raw, angsty finale version more!!!
jesus christ this is better than the new one. i love this version. laura sounds soooooooo good. voice of an angel. i am in love with this performance
I loved Bandstand. It doesn't deserve to close
Laura Osnes is such a queen and I'm sad Bandstand is already closing
This shows how amazing Laura is, y’all can’t disagree with me.
can someone pls make an instrumental version of this
I got to see Bandstand at the Papermill Playhouse before it left for Broadway and besides Les Mis, I don't think I have ever cried so much during a show. They really need to do a recording of the show to share with the world.
Kittybell7669 I saw the filmed recording last June
Someone give this woman a Tony bc this is BEAUTIFUL
This is my new favorite song oh my gOd!!!
Very fitting for now with the army and air force members coming home from the sand box and for anyone who survived fighting in a war.
First I wanted sheet music of Love Will Come And Find Me Again and Welcome Home Finale, and now I want sheet music of this as well. I love Bandstand so much! 🎷🎹📻🎙🎶
Do you happen to know if they are even releasing sheet music?
Jogies Hendrickson No, I am hoping they will release certain songs though at least.
why am I crying in the club right now?
She’s sings this with such positivity

I don’t understand why this musical isn’t still running on Broadway.

RIP replay button. You'll be missed.
I like this even better than the version on the soundtrack, and I didn't think that was possible.
anyone who's curious about where to get the sheet music for this version (like I was) It is in the Bandstand Vocal Selections piano book on Samuel French/Concord Theatricals website :) I bought it and can confirm!
What beauty 😍😍😍
