This entire series, Inside Birding, is fabulous! I never realized I already knew so much... By observing birds in a structured way, so much can be learned & it is so enjoyable to be out in nature. Thank you !
Thank you so much for the free access to Be a Better Birder, I watched these videos back in 2022 when I first singed up to eBird, but I never saw the notification about this free access before and now that I'm watching these series again just for fun I get this surprise, thank you so much again.
This was a great video!! I love studying bird behavior when I’m out taking photographs of our feathered friends.
Guy: See how it's flicking his tail? *waiting for bird fact* girl: Ya. Guy: that's cool....

Lmao...I thought the same 😂
lmfao
Very useful for a complete beginner like me.

Not only for a beginner. It's also very useful for a little more experienced birder, as a reminder to keep looking carefully.
Have fun learning about birds!
a house finch flew into my home so quick before I could close my screen door, he perched on the blinds in my kitchen and before I knew it my cat Sam had caught him and brought him so gently to me, I took him out of his mouth unharmed and released him outside. Sam was so pleased with himself and so was I,, he got extra treats that day
Excellent tutorial. I was immediately reminded of how the old Peterson's field guides opened to a double-page layout of bird silhouettes comparing relative size and shape. This video just today came up on Facebook. Looking forward to checking to see if the Lab did other similar short instructional videos.
Trash talk
Morning doves love seeds and insects they pluck them from the ground, never going the hanging feeder
LOVED THIS VIDEO and the information....We have SO MANY of the birds near our home...Thanks for helping us knpw more now.
this is the best video about birds.
Your videos are so good and informative, I haven't even seen one dislike on any of your videos.
Keep posting :D
sk8boardinmonkey wow this comment is oldddddd
Great video! I'm learning a lot from these videos
In an attempt to document all the species of birds that come to my yard, these clips are great reminders of the tools that I can use to positively identify them. Every year I have at least one new bird come in to feed or drink at the birdbath which is very exciting to me as I try to put together all of my observations since pictures are not always possible! Project FeederWatch is a fun way to get involved :)
Great! Good for beginner and advanced birders alike!
I just came across your Channel and enjoyed your video. Thank you, new subscriber here. 🙂
Nice vidoe and explanation, thank you
Helpful . Tks
Very nice. Very informative video.
Thanks for such nice information 😄 ..
I swear, this comment section is a mess
Would you please tell me which camera/lens you were using to record this video?
6:35 What bird is THAT!?
Wood Stork
Where was this video shot? I'd love to visit that marshy area, with the wooden walkways.
I am guessing this video was shot in the Everglades or southern Florida
You misunderstand my point - gulls and sparrows are notorious id challenges. I'd like to see examples of these tips applied in a more real-world situation.

@playwithbugs Red winged blackbird
@playwithbugs it looks like a tricolored blackbird.
OK folks, these are good videos - so how about a video applying these to something 'interesting' like Gulls or Sparrows. ;-)
My cat catches birds but she doesn't hurt them. She just brings them in the house and lets them go. Its always fun trying to get them out
Sleep13 that’s interesting , kinda cool it doesn’t hurt the birds, probably scares the hell out of them tho lol 😂
The birds are terrified. If you own a cat, PLEASE keep it indoors or build or buy a catio.
red wing blackbird
Hi co op
That's not the idea... These videos give one the tools to observe critically, to hone in on what makes one bird different than another... Why are gulls & sparrows more interesting then the birds they show?
We can speculate that this is how the non avian dinosaurs behaved aswell!
Fish
Aaaaand, what was the point of any of this? It literally didn't tell you anything, like what certain ticks mean, or what different calls mean. This was just a video of bird identification.
What do you mean? This is the best inside birding video!
I think you missed the part in the title..... Behavior. A turkey vulture has the size of a bald 🦅 eagle but there is a difference in their flight patterns just like the video showed us. THAT helps for identification by bird watchers, wildlife experts and just the average person on a vacation.
There are many videos on RUclips that cover bird calls. Start your search there.
"Golden pulver"? It's a Plover.
