So many watches don't get alignment right! What's so hard? A 10 year battery . . . I'd spend 10 years hating the misalignment. So much to like otherwise.
Brilliant looking watch. I'm an Automation Technician. Been wearing my Casio Duro for work for the past 2years. IF it ever breaks I'll pick up one of these .
I got their very base composite model for my 8yr old. I figured it a nice starter watch! Of course I found it cast away amongst other cast away trinkets, so I threw a fancy nato on it and it now often adorns my wrist. The materials and proportions are really on-point, strap included. It’s a great tool watch value. Titanium is on the want list!
I bought an A-1S years ago after breaking numerous watches at work and/or at play mountain biking. Slapped it on a Eulit Perlon and it is still going strong today. The quartz movement and fixed strap bars make a real difference when doing something as rough as mountain biking (I've lost one and broken another watch due to failed spring bars), and the recessed crystal has kept my Bertucci's mineral crystal scratch and chip free over many years of very rough use. Now if Bertucci would just do a tough solar model I'd have found my "perfect" watch.
I expect the hands hitting markers on every and each watch(quarz). 200 is not so little anyway. Thank you Jody for showing us this watch. I wanted one but now I DONT! One less watch to worry about, thx again Jody!
I have a Bertucci Retroform.. I also got mine from Mark at Long Island watch. It has a fiber reinforced poly resin case. The main reason I bought this particular model is because it has an Ameriquartz movement. Just wanted to help the American company. Lightweight and very comfortable. Jodie keep up the good work!!!!
I have the most basic one. A-5R resin case, mineral crystal and 5atm. At first I didn't really like it but then it grew on me. Simple tool watch. No date just grab and go. Easy to read. Great daily tool watch.
Just recently picked this watch up in the no-date version and a Swiss quartz movement ($220) from long island. Matter of taste but this watch has quickly become my current favorite watch regardless of price. I love Bertucci's marketing and design.
I picked up this exact model last year. Funny, mine came with a crown block, but was already ticking as well. The strap is very robust. I opted for a bunch of softer seat belt type straps and just swap them when they get grimey. Makes a great work watch.
I bought one that looks just like this except it came with a black strap. I have had it just over 4 years. I paid $125 and it now sells for $155. Mine looks exactly the same but has the 3 year battery not the 10 year battery and after 4 years battery still working fine. Mine has a mineral crystal not sapphire. I mostly work from home so this has become my daily wearer watch. I do have a blue and gray striped band as well as black so I can do a different look. If I go into work or out to something more dressy I may wear a different watch but day to day this is my favorite as it is so light and comfortable. I wear it in the pool as the 200 m water resistance is way more than you need. Overall very happy with this watch I didn’t realize I would like it as much as I do.
I bought a Bertucci several years ago. After a false start by taking delivery of a DOA, the replacement hasn't missed a beat. It's very durable, tough and reliable. I use it as my yard work watch and it's held up very well.
I've been looking forward to a review of this watch from Jodi. As some others who have purchased this watch opined, I wasn't initially blown a away by this watch, but it quickly grew on me. Much like John who supplied the watch for review, I work in a rough industry as a merchant marine, and my bertucci (same in the review) has proven itself to be quite a formidable watch. I certainly appreciate all the positives Jodi mentioned about this watch. I also would like to thank Mark, at Long Island Watch, whom I purchased my Bertucci from as well.
For some reason I like the fact that the spring bars are part of the case. This would definitely be an awesome daily beater for anyone with a more physical job.
I have had an A2T for over a year. The case is scratch-free but it’s not a daily driver and I don’t do industrial work either. I did replace the factory strap with an elastic band from Marc at Long Island Watch. It made the watch virtually weightless, thinner on the wrist, and eliminated snags. It would be nice if the second hand aligned with the markers. Casio can do it on a $50 Duro.
I’m big into watches that are meant to be worn and used. I’ve looked at Bertucci on several occasions and just need to finally pull the trigger.. As a firefighter, these would be excellent tool watches!
A very nice watch indeed. I spent many years designing and installing highly magnetized equipment related to the food and chemical processing industry and totally understand John's comment. I've magnetized quite a few watches myself! However I have never had an issue with demagnetizing any of my Seiko watches and they tend to run as they did prior to magnetization. I did it to a Hamilton too and it was ok also. I did eventually turn to wearing a G-Shock when in close contact to equipment and haven't used my demag device in a long time. I do like this one. no fancy packaging, just a decent watch that does the job. Prefer to pay for a watch rather than the box it comes in. Excellent review!
I have had one since 2006, and beat the tar out of it.The case has scratches dings and dents, but I still have not managed to scratch the glass. It is almsot he most accurate watch I have. It is a GREAT beater watch, and overall as well. Oh and great lume too!
The A-1R was my first purchase after deciding to dive into watch collection. I wanted a basic beater watch, one that I didn't spend a lot of money on to test out whether I could return to wearing watches (haven't worn one since I was a kid). Love my Bertucci. It's the one I pick out of the case when I have a day where I want to be prepped for some no nonsense, might run into some bullshit kinda day. The Bertucci delivers.
I love Bertucci! I’d like to pickup a titanium case version like this soon. I recently bought the polycarbonate case A-3P Vintage Sportsman Field with full lume white dial…really diggin’ it! These straps are TOP NOTCH!
I’ve been a Bertucci owner and fan since their inception. Great watches (and straps, of which there is quite a variety). BTW - Enzo is the name of the dog (mascot).
A great review Jody, I have a couple of Bertucci's, and a welcome change from a G-Shock when you need something robust and reliable. They feature great construction with that unitary case and no spring bars to break or loose and their straps are great too! Yes, they take a little breaking in being quite thick and stiff.
I own this very watch! I also got it from Long Island watch as well. My battery saver was actually working. I love the recessed Sapphire Crystal and the 10-year battery. The only downsize for me has been the lug to lug!!
I've got a Bertucci C1 Lusso tank watch in high-polished titanium. Fantastic, reliable and utterly unique. Bertuccis are great for what they are, just don't expect Zaratsu polishing and high end movements.
Hi Jody I got a stainless one a few years ago from Marc at Long Island Watch base model mineral glass two year battery no date on a Christmas sale $57 great work watch you are right the band breaks in great and no spring bars mean you don’t need to worry about losing it during manual labour I do wish they made a automatic with all the same features great watch
I own a Bertucci A2-T and it is a great watch.Yes the misaligned seconds hand registration is a bummer but my Ares Diver-1 quartz as well as my Seiko Solar diver suffer the same problem. I would say that it is much more aggregious in a watch from a Hugh corporation such as Seiko.
I've had my Bertucci for about 6 months and really enjoy mine. I bought it for the sole purpose of wearing it hiking and camping instead of using my G-Shock.
That strap colour really compliments the colour of the titanium. I have the polycarbonate version and enjoy it's lack of weight. It has the same strap which does take a while to break in. John may have a different experience but I found that I had to wrap some electrical tape around it to smooth over where the strap joins onto itself on the underside and creates a scratchy step.
Have mine for over 15 years. Bought it for my hikes in Northern Wales at the time. But as I am working in construction i wear it at the job since. Still the original mineral glass. One battery change and one strap change. It is scratched because it met some concrete, powertools and rocks. Doing things with it I would not dare with my G-shocks. Beast of a watch and will never leave my collection
That's curious, my 38mm Hamilton Khaki handwound weighs 58gr with a thick nylon strap and just under 46gr with no strap yet its a stainless steel watch with a mechanical movement. I suppose titanium is only lighter as long as the watch isn't 45% larger. Call it the Pelly effect.
I've been looking at this combination of features - titanium field, flat sapphire, 4oclock crown uncluttered dial. Personally I prefer the white dial dateless Boldr [NH35 and about $300] to the Bertucci. But there is often a niggle - the Boldr 38mm case size is below my usual choice as 40mm is the low end of what I like and 41-44mm seems to be what I'm happiest wearing so I'm undecided.
Neat, I actually just had the non-sapphire version of this same watch delivered today. I've had an A-1R for a little while now and have really enjoyed it, so I expect to like the A-2T as well.
I own a resin and titanium bertucci. The olive green resin is my everyday work watch and it hardly shows any wear after 3 years of beating on it in the building maintenance field.
My newest watch is the lumed body resin A-2R. I didn’t wait long enough to break in the supplied strap before swapping in an already broken in NATO. The seconds hand registration is on par with my timexs. Overall I’m very happy with it.
I've been wearing 2 Bertucci watches in rotation (one in Stainless Steel & the other, Titanium) to work for about 4 or 5 years now, and I gotta say that they ARE tough as nails. I do concrete poured walls for a living, and I've destroyed a good number of watches between knocking them, immersing them in chemicals (mostly form oil, motor oil and diesel fuel) and getting concrete on, and sometimes, (some how) inside them. The Bertucci takes any and all abuse without ever letting me down. I also gotta mention that the abrasion resistance of the nylon, single pass,NATO/Zulu type straps they come with, is simply un-matched. They are quite stiff though, and don't seem to soften up much, even with constant washing and wearing so keep that in mind. Last I looked, Bertucci did NOT offer these straps in a 20mm size, which is a bummer because I'd like to have a couple more for some other watches I don't ever wear to work. Bottom line is, these watches are bad-ass strong. If they are NOT industrial/military grade in their durability, I don't know what is.
I've been enjoying the GMT version of this model for a some time now. Very good design and specs for the price (~$170US in my case?). My first - and favorite - Bertucci was the A-6A Experior, which is sort of an unsung masterpiece of idealized/modernized military-field watch aesthetics. I'm not kidding: It's equally at home on a mountainside or an art gallery. I could go on and on about that one, and have gotten so much use out of it over the years. I think this is a great company with a cool selling point, and one I'd definitely recommend to people looking for a durable, affordable, unique watches.
Love my A2T. My older model is rated at 100M water resistance so they have improved. My only slight gripe is I wish they made them for 18mm or 20mm straps instead of 22. Great watch!
For possibly the first time ever....I'm a step ahead of Jody! I've had a Bertucci for over a year, and it's my hard labor beater watch. (Granted, my hard labor consists of mowing the lawn, but hey....) Guess my only regret is getting the larger, 42mm, "Americana" version. I was taken in by the US Made Ameriquartz movement, but probably would have been happier with the 40mm size of the Japanese quartz version. Side note: Though I wouldn't bet my life on it....I think "Enzo" is the name of the dog, and not the owner. 😄
@@JustOneMoreWatch I have eight Bertucci watches and yes, Enzo is the company mascot and I think Enzo is a Jack Russell terrier. I have a Tonneau case Bertucci which is my favorite. Cheers!
I've been looking at Bertucci for a while now, coincidently on Islander Watches. I love the simplicity of a field watch, I have Timex Expedition in my collection and you hardly notice you're wearing it. I think it's time to break out the credit card again!!
Yes I have a Bertucci with a green dial and I think it's great. The strap is very comfortable & its a perfect size for an average wrist. It's like a Hamilton but at half the price.
There’s something to be said for a ridiculously light quartz tool watch that’s ready anytime you pick it up. I have a Marathon Navigator that fits the bill perfectly!
I bought one of these excellent watches for my Nephew when he joined the British Army ( Household Cavalry ) I've since upgraded his watch on completion of his training to a Hamilton Manual Wind Field Watch .
I got the resin basic one but with a green dial. Dx3 model. Super light on wrist. Lume on hands is readable all night. Its a winner i believe. It was like 65.00. Nato it came on is very high quality.
It's not for me unfortunately. I already own a couple of original British Army issued G10 watches that are still going strong. The second hand not hitting the markers would drive me nuts and it doesn't stand out from the rest of of the crowd, it's just another m8litary field watch.
hey, someone else just covered a Bertucci recently. I was looking at them last year but there wasn't much reviews. Unfortuntely prices seem to have gone nuts for this brand in the UK for some reason in the last few months. They're not exactly £200+ watches, esp when I've just picked up an Orient Kamasu for £210 in the last couple of weeks.
I am also a field tech and just replaced the damaged strap on my Seiko after 3 months . I wish I knew this existed. This looks like my next watch after I destroy the Seiko in 12-18 months.
I think we have gotten so used to $100 Ali watches with "all the specs" that it's hard to get excited. However this is unique in it's look, material and intended use.
I Gave mine to a heavy equipment mechanic friend a few years ago. Its still running perfectly. Really the only issue it has is a marred and pocked mineral crystal from welding spark and slag. Which brings me to the one thing I dislike about Bertucci.....They are impossible to get hold of. I'd love to get a sapphire to put in my friends watch but Bertucci has failed to respond to multiple email requests for a part number to order or even just direction to what part to order.
Ok, I did it; I checked out the Bertucci site about halfway through the video. I'm worried I'll be clicking on the link in around a week and a half's time, when it's payday 😖
Only got there entry level A-1R 36mm as they are expensive here in the uk no matter what model you go for....ABSOLUTELY love it although alignment of the seconds i dont think match up on any model..But wow such a good piece...Also have the titanium Boderry voyger also fantastic..It really depends what You want out of a field watch..The fixed lugs is a genius idea and although alot do not want it on the boderry me personally wished BODERRY did a fixed LUG version as well..A piece for you to review is BODERRYS LANDMASTER jody !!!
Take a look at any Casio quartz analog watch, the second hand hits the markers on most copies, even on their most affordable models! Dogs are faithful companions, hence the dog pictogram perhaps?
Thanks for the review - I'll keep Bertucci in mind for the future. But the second hand not hitting the dial markers would drive my OCD self up the wall. Every cheesy quartz watch I've owned have managed to nail that one; it can't be that difficult to do.
Jody, how do you think the Berny T2526 stacks up against the bertucci? I was able to pick up the blue Berny on a nato strap for $44 usd with a coupon. Titanium, sapphire and a ten year battery. Seemed to good to pass up.
Bought my DX3 a few years ago for £55, a great watch and the lume is immense. Wish I'd have bought the titanium at the time, they were only about £120!
I handle many bertucci watches in my line of work and I can confirm these are very sturdy watches. 2 things I didn't like regardless of the model is 1 the straps NEVER break in. I've seen them come in after years of ownership and the straps are still very stiff compared to other straps. The 2nd issue I have is a complaint about titanium watches in general. I have noticed that the threading on almost any titanium watch, from bertucci to breitling, is very unpleasant feeling compared to stainless steel. To me it like nails on a chalk board. The threading on bertucci case backs in particular is quite bad. Even with that said I believe this is an exceptional watch and worth every penny when using a discount code. Never pay retail.
It's a nice looking watch. Generic enough look, balanced dial that makes it look compact. I'd probably look into one if I wasn't busy collecting Casios!
I think I'd have opted for the citizen promaster tough ti ecodrive instead. Cleaner, more legible dial, monocoque case, bracelet option, ecodrive movement,
Maybe should have opted for a tough G-Shock to survive his heavy watch wearing job... This titanium would be full of nicks, scratches and bumps in 6 months time. But otherwise, interesting piece reviewed. First time I've heard of it! Thanks for a great video (as always Jody 😊)
I wear one of these every day at my job. I think they are a decent deal. Bertucci had a unique design and the materials are good. My question is where in the heck do you get replacement lithium batteries?
This reminds me of Marathon a little, except the Marathon field watches I have an eye on are automatic and have the Seiko automatic motion and tritium tubes on the dials. Have you seen any of these? I'd love to see your opinion on them. They have a composite case and I would be a little hesitant on tearing out the band bars compared to this one's titanium unibody.
@@e28forever30 i dont know about you but I have never trully liked chinese manufacturing with rather poor salaries and some sort of exploitation, if its my choice I would rather chose a product made by a country I know have much better working conditions. @@danielorozco1728 I am guessing you are absolutely not aware of the fact that a lot of stuff is being made in China nowadays. Please sell your phone, computer, printer, television,…. because they are all made in China. My second guess is that you apparently still believe that “Swiss made” means that it is 100% made in Switzerland. Go and educate yourself, those times are long gone. So you believe there are only Swiss and Chinese watch brands? What about the Japanese brands? They are the real innovators, the ones that can offer you true value for money. The Swiss are resting on their laurels, taking advantage of gullible people who believe “Swiss Made” means anything…
I know not everyone cares, I can't stand the marker alignment, but I do like bertucci in general
It bugged me too; is just about as "off" as it could be, hitting exactly in between each second marker. It's why I'm going back to mechanicals.
So many watches don't get alignment right! What's so hard? A 10 year battery . . . I'd spend 10 years hating the misalignment. So much to like otherwise.

Always wanted the boldr venture quartz and regretted never picking one up so this is a definite viable alternative 👍
A great overview of this watch Jody. I don't think I've seen springless bars before!
Love my A2T. My older model is rated at 100M water resistance so they have improved. My only slight gripe is I wish they made them for 18mm or 20mm straps instead of 22. Great watch!
Nice piece. And every field watch i see reminds me how much i love my Hammy KFA (just back from a service, too).
For possibly the first time ever....I'm a step ahead of Jody! I've had a Bertucci for over a year, and it's my hard labor beater watch. (Granted, my hard labor consists of mowing the lawn, but hey....)
Guess my only regret is getting the larger, 42mm, "Americana" version. I was taken in by the US Made Ameriquartz movement, but probably would have been happier with the 40mm size of the Japanese quartz version.
Side note: Though I wouldn't bet my life on it....I think "Enzo" is the name of the dog, and not the owner. 😄
Ha! Maybe it's a really smart dog? 🤔
Maybe thats why a picture of a dog is on the caseback?
@@JustOneMoreWatch I have eight Bertucci watches and yes, Enzo is the company mascot and I think Enzo is a Jack Russell terrier. I have a Tonneau case Bertucci which is my favorite. Cheers!
8:37 I like the watch but I don't like the top-heavy look of that strap. The buckle on the strap is just distracting and makes it look too bulky.
I've been looking at Bertucci for a while now, coincidently on Islander Watches. I love the simplicity of a field watch, I have Timex Expedition in my collection and you hardly notice you're wearing it. I think it's time to break out the credit card again!!
I have the Islander ISL-01 and it’s my new favorite watch. You’ll love it
Yes I have a Bertucci with a green dial and I think it's great. The strap is very comfortable & its a perfect size for an average wrist. It's like a Hamilton but at half the price.
It’s definitely not a Hamilton.
A "Hamilton Lite" if you will.
Love to see a comparison with the Boldr Venture Titanium.
Got a cream and light green color one at a goodwill for $30! Favorite watch so far
I think we have gotten so used to $100 Ali watches with "all the specs" that it's hard to get excited. However this is unique in it's look, material and intended use.
I like the style, fixed bars and tough movement, but they are too expensive for the specs in the UK.
Agreed... 💯%
Like the dial, but its all lugs and strap. I know its for comfort but would rather 20mm lug width and a few mm off the lug to lug.
NICE! More tool/field/instrument/pilot styled watches please!
Bought my DX3 a few years ago for £55, a great watch and the lume is immense. Wish I'd have bought the titanium at the time, they were only about £120!
Just a couple of days ago I got my first Bertucci, an A-1R. And I bought my brother the P3. Great watches for the price.
Was that the thread pitch for the screw down crown on that tag?
The A-2T states on their website that they use mineral glass for this watch. Where have you seen that it uses sapphire crystal glass?
Great video as always! Do you know of any other watches with that 40x22 dimension?
I've had Bertuccis (8) going back to 2005. Enzo is the dog (mascot). Mike is the Bertucci behind Bertucci.
It looks just like my Hamilton military manual watch 👍👍
I think I'd have opted for the citizen promaster tough ti ecodrive instead. Cleaner, more legible dial, monocoque case, bracelet option, ecodrive movement,
The better choice indeed!
The A2-T currently on offer @ Amazon is a mineral crystal, not sapphire oddly. I wonder if Bertucci changed this spec?
I wear one of these every day at my job. I think they are a decent deal. Bertucci had a unique design and the materials are good. My question is where in the heck do you get replacement lithium batteries?
That stubby holder is a GEM
This reminds me of Marathon a little, except the Marathon field watches I have an eye on are automatic and have the Seiko automatic motion and tritium tubes on the dials. Have you seen any of these? I'd love to see your opinion on them. They have a composite case and I would be a little hesitant on tearing out the band bars compared to this one's titanium unibody.
How did you find one with sapphire?
What do you think about the new wenger models? I think theyre a bargain being swiss made... just get better over years...
I'll need to check them out Daniel, haven't looked at the brand in years tbh.
Agreed.... I was so impressed with the case and the clarity of the face that I bought a second for my daughter...
What’s so special about “Swiss Made” watches nowadays?
@@e28forever30 i dont know about you but I have never trully liked chinese manufacturing with rather poor salaries and some sort of exploitation, if its my choice I would rather chose a product made by a country I know have much better working conditions.
Not to mention swiss workers put more attention to detail and QC is way better.
@@danielorozco1728
I am guessing you are absolutely not aware of the fact that a lot of stuff is being made in China nowadays.
I love my Bertucci A-11T. It is my work, beater and sports watch, and it has held up to alot of abuse. Soon time to get another one.
Great review as always. I'd rather have a Redwood watch vs this any day of the week :) Personal taste
Somebody needs to send you an Islander!
Or a Casio. John can always pick a Casio.
However, the Bertuci seems good. I hope you like it John (and I hope the watch may withstand the suffering)
