      devdas Devdas In time the iron on glue fails, the edges lift and the material frays. Live with a hole or get new jeans.

    • @reemj3675
      @reemj3675 6 лет назад +40

      The glue DOES fail but thats the point of stitching. The glue seals the fabric together so when you stitch over there's fabric there for the stitched to grab. The reason this happens is friction then fraying. You won't ever get rid of the friction but stitching beyond the fray stops it. Without the patch, the OK threads would still fray. The seal strengthens the fabric, fraying stops and the stitches are in place in the strong fabric so the glue won't matter later. Its stitched fabric to fabric. I've done it many times (seamstress) it works well as long as you stitch beyond the fray and against the grain of the fabric

    You can put a piece of drawer liner on the floor to keep the foot pedal from slipping. also. Stubborn pins don't always need lubing because it leaves chemicals in your fabric. USE a piece of steal wool and squeeze while rubbing to smooth the burrs that occur from sewing. The pins are usually stubborn because they are being used.
