Referring to the borders 200 years ago, while interesting, doesn’t matter today. The border today was hard fought over and established with sacrifice on both sides.
In the late 1980s the Immigration Reform Act was initially quite successful. Undocumented people who'd been in the U.S. for five years now had a path towards a green card and citizenship. They signed up for ESL and citizenship classes. People not already here stopped crossing the border. There would be no path for future undocumented border crossers. Then the corporate farms in California began having a significant labor shortage. Instead of solving it by economics -- raising wages, they complained to Republican Senator Pete Wilson. He got border enforcement relaxed. The word got to the border that it was again 'open.' It all just faded away back to the policies that served companies seeking workers who were easy to control, could be paid low wages and who had little legal recourse for mistreatment. In the end it's all about protecting a status quo, the INS gets their department budgeted to chase and arrest people, corporate farms and other corporations (Wallmart was busted) has a steady stream of pliable workers. Where this really sticks out is in the south eastern Red States. Forty years ago there were no Spanish speaking immigrants. But someone showed up got work told others. Now there are thriving Latino communities in all those states. These aren't Cubans coming up from Florida. These are the very people from the very places the politicians and their voters in those states shout the loudest about. If they really are so bad, then why did they hire them? All an employer had to ask was for identification. No ID? I'm sorry I can't hire you. No one would've come. So these immigrants might look like they've unilaterally decided to come to the U.S. In reality, they are wanted. The other thing about immigration of any type -- it's not just good for an economy, immigration is great for an economy.
Lies. They kept on coming. And in theory you had to have been here for 5 years. People literally just came up from Mexico when they heard of this amnesty and got it. That may have resulted in a labor shortage bc many people that worked in agriculture now had better options. It takes some time to fill those spots back up. But that also results in lower food prices for you. The funny thing is that most of you complain about high food prices. Trump would actually massively increase food prices with his proposals.
The numbers reflect those who were apprehended, not those who were not. And there was this thing in 2020 called a pandemic where all the border crossings were shut down. (most illegal border crossings occur with traffickers smuggling them right through legal border crossings)
Immigration deal should be so obvious. 1) Clamp down on border security with additional fines/jail for illegal immigration 2) Increase legal immigration spots/funding - our economy needs it for the manual labor jobs no one will take. Problem solved!

Build the wall
Um- drugs, terrorism, impossibly to vet who comes in???
1:50 - What was the point of mentioning this? Is the suggestion that Mexicans should have the right to cross into America because it was Mexican territory in the past?
Well, it was steal by the USA. I guess you don't have issues with Russia conquering back it old territory, Ukraine.
Besides, there is native population that was divided because of this, especially native Americans (the originals)
You can't talk about walls and land without knowing the story
@@linuxsisschannel8602 The Mexicans "stole" it from the Spanish who "stole" it from the Comanche and Apache and others, who "stole" it from people before them.
It's irrelevant to the topic.
if this continues we will become mexico, we need to help the people in mexico not let them allowed into this country, like i said if we do we will become mexico we already slowly are becoming it
Venezuelans* , we mexicans get tourist visas 😂😂😂😂
That's another story! Let's talk about Santa Ana . How the American government help to install him. Let's talk about his betrayal.. we want the Border closed because of the cartel
@Booz2020 35 years and no alcohol
Its American people destro tower
20% of world's problem would be vanished if people stay where they are and don't go to America, Europe
Dhey just following China, building the great wall of America
Put gators in the river
Honestly as cruel as that sounds, I think that would actually work, if Texas imported hundreds of alligators from the local southern swamps or from Florida, the alligators would probably be quite obese, endless prey 👨👩👦👦 👱🏾♂️ constantly coming their way, and they’ll be really active under the Texas sun. When they start reproducing and there’s thousands of them… 👀
I’m sure if Texas were their own independent country, suceded from the US, I could see the Texans doing that 🐊
So u guys are port of America?
@@WillN2Go1 , I couldn’t have said it any better. Well said !
They come here to still our money, our places for our people ro live our tax dollares...
Th Us caused much of the turmoil plaguing latin America

Trump belt just 130km. How come illegal immigrants was low and scary in his era
The numbers reflect those who were apprehended, not those who were not.
And there was this thing in 2020 called a pandemic where all the border crossings were shut down. (most illegal border crossings occur with traffickers smuggling them right through legal border crossings)
@@dmac7128 , don’t confuse some people with the facts !!
The Rio Grande part of the border isn't the US Mexico border. It belongs to Texas and Mexico. Only the bridges are US.
Immigration deal should be so obvious. 1) Clamp down on border security with additional fines/jail for illegal immigration 2) Increase legal immigration spots/funding - our economy needs it for the manual labor jobs no one will take. Problem solved!
Whatsoever fix the border!🇺🇸
more minefields less walls
undefended minefields are useless
@@JeffBilkins so are walls but the time to clear a mine field is greater than that to climb a wall
Trump 2024 ❤
We are not going back. Harris 2024. Trump 20 -24 years in jail.
WELLFARE FOR ALL ! stop it ,and they will go away , they won`t come !
They are criminal
Fences make good neighbors.
1846 now it's the opposite heheboi
They should just finish the wall and see if it does anything. If not then on to the next try....
A wall is ineffective, expensive and can be easily defeated with a rope, ladder, sawzall or tunnel. There are places where they're helpful obstacle but a wall isn't a solution for the a majority of the border. Boots on the ground enforcement is required.
Republicans are freeloaders that still haven't paid a dime towards the $4 trillion wasted on their wars. Tax cuts for the wealthy have left our nation deep in debt. Tax cuts don't pay for wars, border protection or anything else.
