A pen test would be super helpful! I'm excited to see an alternative as I do not like the tomaoe river paper. Love the feel of the paper but I am not patient enough to wait for things to dry ! This new planner seems like it might be a good cross between them.
Thank you for this video! I ordered two of these Planners since the Hobonichi is too expensive and I was curious to find a review. This was just what I was looking for. :)
Thanks for this video! I've been wanting to get a Hobonichi Weeks but haven't wanted to invest when I'm not sure yet if I would like it. I've been looking for a similar, less expensive alternative so I can try out some of the adorable kits I've been seeing! Plus I love that it's undated!
Thank you so much for this video. I see Hobinichi alternatives on Aliexpress all the time, but I'm always afraid they won't live up to the advertisements. You have given me confidence about this product.
I feel yah! I still have second thoughts on some Aliexpress planners, but this one was just really nice to pass up. The only real let-down is that the paper quality will never be as nice as the tomoe river from the Hobonichi....
Very helpful video! I just saw this on Instagram, but I'd already ordered a Hobonichi Weeks. I'll definitely consider it for next year as a cost-effective alternative. Definitely can't beat the price!
yes, definitely very inexpensive! there´s no comparison to the paper quality though, but at least you can get the feels for the layout before investing in the Hobonichi Weeks.
I loved this and just ordered it on Aliexpress. I love this idea for planning but didn't want to spend $50+ on a hobonichi as this is a new system for me. :)
I love it!!! I also give huge praises to Ki Magic- very good sellers on aliexpress. I'm in Canada and it took about 2 months, but they send with tracking and they add beautiful free gifts. HIGHLY recommend!
I've had this weeks now for almost a year and I love it. I will say that mine has gotten a bit beaten up, even with a cover on, but I'm also kinda hard on things :D Not sure if the OP would want to do a follow up, but Amazon.com now makes their own weeks version. It's about the same as this one, but I'm not sure I like the layout or the color options. I loved kinbor because of the white cover. However for those wanting to look into the weeks for planning but not liking the tomeo river paper (I'm not a fan) or not wanting to spend a lot to try out the system, you have a few more options. I wish I could find a techo knock off--again, for me as a fast writer with balpoint pen, I prefer normal paper.
So cool! I on the other hand LOVE tomoe river paper so I ended up with a Hobo Wks for 2020, lol!. I still have these Kinbor planners in my collection and really want to use them for something, so I might combine both. Who knows! Oh and I also saw the new Amazon weeks version, I think Seaweed Kisses did a review on them. It´s nice that they are coming out with alternate versions, the more options the better I say! ;) Thanks for watching lovely!
It is! I actually bought it with the intention of using it as a health/fitness planner though now I´m inclining more to use it as a gratitude planner. I´ve yet to start it, maybe February is the time!
I have been debating with myself if I should get the Hobonichi Weeks and now that they dont have my favorite one, I was a little upset but after watching your video Im more comfortable with getting this simply because it looks similar and also a hell of a lot cheaper. lol. Thanks for the vid love!
sorry for the late reply, and you are very welcome!! hope it was useful. I still haven´t found a use for mine, but since they are undated I can just pick one up whenever if I get the inspiration.
Thank you so much for this video! I was really eager to try out the Hobonichi weeks as a journal, but didn't want to spend so much money on something I don't know I was gonna use. I just ordered one of the Kinbor Planners for 2020. Can't wait for it to arrive :)
I´m actually using the Hobonichi Weeks this year, so I´ll be sure to do some flip throughs as to how I´m using it. (Technically it would be the same use as this one)
I’m late to the review, but this video is still really helpful 😊! I did see these and wonder about them! Thanks to your review, I don’t have to buy a Hobonichi( I didn’t buy one for 2019). But I miss using one for my gratitudes journal and one for my food and weight tracking! Looks perfect for those purposes. I’m off to order😊! Thank you for sharing, take care and have fun💗🤗!
sorry for my late reply...so happy you found the video useful! and hope that it works out for you. I haven´t used mine yet, I love the size but the paper kills me a little.
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this! The hobo is well overpriced but I love the compact size and the grids on it. UNDATED!! Ahhh. Who said perfection doesn't exist?! I am ordering few now. Thank you so much. A question, are the note pages lined or grids?
I tried this notebook and hated it. I hate how the days of the week seem to be hanging out about an inch into the day and it gets in my way when I'm trying to make lists.
It´s definitely not for everyone. I don´t mind the layout so much, but it´s the paper that throws me off a little bit. I am too hooked to tomoe river I think...xD
I'm not sure why you mention 120gsm then saying "wider" and "bigger" than Jibun/Hobonichi paper since gsm is grams per square meter, it's not related to dimensions, but wow, 120gsm is a good weight, Fabriano notebooks are only 85gsm. I'm impressed.
Hi! Obviously I´m no paper expert, and can only guide myself by what is indicated in the product description of the store. The pens I´ve tried all seem to work well in the paper. It´s still a really great planner quality/price wise.
Thanks for watching this video!! Since I posted it there´s been a lot of new Kinbor updates to their planners, here´s a link to a store I found on Aliexpress where they carry the new Kinbor line. I´ve not tried them, but from watching other reviews I believe the paper is much much thinner. Hope this is helpful! www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-kinbor-planner.html?tracelog=msite2pc
thanks for the very detailed video it helped me a lot! :* waiting for my order to come in :) just wondering if sticker kits designed to fit the hobonichi would fit the kinbor as well ...
@@koffeekween5924 actually they fit very well you only have to place some stickers a little bit different ☺ I show pictures of my weeks on my Instagram account -> experiencereallife if you want to see it in action 😅
You inspired me to try it and I just received mine in the mail! I'm so excited to start using it. I wanted to try this style before possibly investing in a hobonichi or just continue using this one if I fall in love with it. I have a question about using a cover for it. I think I'll scotch guard it, but do you recommend using a cover/ wallet? Have you been using it for a while and do you have wear and tear from normal use? Or will it survive without a cover? Thanks!
I´m so glad you decided to give it a go. I´ve actually not used mine yet... I have a hard time keeping up with multiple planners. But I take comfort in the fact that because it´s undated I can always reach for it if I need it. IF I would have used it, I probably would have tried to find a PVC cover just to protect it a bit, since it is a cloth material. I don´t like bulking my planners too much, but a cover/wallet sounds like a great idea. :) Hope it works out for you!
@@PlannerHolics Thanks for responding, so far it is surviving without a cover. I was a little disappointed that it is too large for the wallets that I already have. Thanks for recommending this, so far I am loving it!
Hi Kat, I obviously have no way to measure the exact paper width but it does say in the product description of the store that it is 120. I´ve tried different pens and pigment liners and it seems to hold them good. :/ Sorry I can´t be more helpful.
Hmm...I´m not sure since I don´t own a TN to try. It´s pretty much the same size as the Hobonichi Weeks, so maybe try looking for someone who uses their Hobo with a TN? :)
awesome! Looks like a great alternative. The fact that it’s not tomoa river paper is SUCH a bummer though. I wonder how the paper quality is as far as water colors/markers/etc.

Have you tried it with fountain pens?
Hi Rita, I´m afraid I haven´t since I don´t own a fountain pen. I might have to borrow one from my father in law and see what happens ;)
Does the weeks sticker fit in it?
Just found this video and loving the planner alternative. However the link doesn't work. Does anyone have an up to date, valid link? Thanks!!!

Does paper quality look like Bible paper, like Hobo, as I guess, or not?
Not this alternative I´m afraid. The paper is white and thicker, nothing to do with the Tomoe River paper that the Hobonichi has.
thanks for the very detailed video it helped me a lot! :* waiting for my order to come in :) just wondering if sticker kits designed to fit the hobonichi would fit the kinbor as well ...

does anyone know if this lies flat when opened?
It does not unfortunately, but you can train the spine a bit so that it can sort of lay open...

Yes, it has 12 undated monthly spreads at the beginning ;)
