- After the failure of Sega Saturn, Sega continued to make another console, Sega Dreamcast and it was liked by many. Of course, Daytona USA was available on the console but is it good? Is it better than the Saturn's? Let"s take a look.

really glad to have discovered your channel. i always liked this port even if the controls take some getting used to. i'm going to be going back through your videos and watching a lot of them, now! would love to see you cover ride racer 64 as well (my personal favorite ridge racer game to this day).
The Xbox 360 version is backwards compatible on the current Series systems. Looks and plays great! I think you need to purchase it on a 360 though...
You can purchase it on the browser at least. You don’t need a 360 to purchase it.
so was high or low sensitivity better or worse to play with a controller? The option is missing from the Japanese version as well.
Get it on Xbox one or Xbox series s or x and it’s a perfect port. I play on there and it is a 1:1 arcade port no issues and it even looks a little better because of higher res.
Very good game, Bad vidéo. Gameplay is perfect with the gamepad, Daytona Usa 2001 is the best version.
the Saturn one is a bad port, Dreamcast one was perfect to me.

I only ever played this game in the arcade. It’s so good
Just started playing this on my modded arcade 1up Ridge Racer. I feel the game is only playable with the Grasshopper car and soft tires. Gives you plenty of traction then.
The game is payable with the hornet and normal tirés.

i appreciated it at the time but i guess it was more for the finally on point gfx for a home daytona usa game than anything else eheh

No freaking way.
The original Arcade -version is vastly inferior on every way. It has simple textures and lots of pop -up.
Those who have played Xbox 360 -version should know, that it is not direct Arcade -port.
It is tecnically improved port.
But Daytona USA 2001 on Dreamcast is not port. -It is remake.
And damn good one.
Solid 60fps, 40 cars on screen, amazing detailed colourfull graphics, incredible tracks, great sense of speed, full replays, stunning soundtrack.
The game really shows the power of Dreamcast.
Daytona USA 2001 is not inferior to any racing game on PS2, NGC or Xbox.
Some say that they don't like the handling.
Admitedly, it is clearly make for steering wheel, rather than standart controller. But it is still possible to master. -Just don't enter turns on max speed. -Let go right trigger on just right time before the turn.
Daytona USA 2001 has very advanced engine.
Dreamcast could run perfect -port of Daytona USA 2 on this engine on rock solid 30fps. But sadly, that game was not released.

Agreed. I don't know what people are talking about re the controls really. I mean yeah they are a little twitchy but if you drop the sensitivity, they are fine. "Worst controls in any game ever???" lol...hyperbole much people? And the game looks absolutely stunning. Lots of tracks...I have the PS3 HD version too and I think this is every bit as good and in some ways better.
Yeah, i honestly think control is much better than say, Sega Rally 2 on DC, where it feels like driving on slippery ice. I actually remember people complaining about Arcade Datona USA 2 control -system back in the day. Well some people just don't have the patience or bother remembering the courses.@@sgtearache5303
The Dreamcast port always felt like a missed opportunity. I loved the graphics but could never get fully comfortable with the controls. I tried the wheel too but it never quite felt right to me.
I still think the controls of the original Saturn version are the best ones in terms of these ports.
Such a shame as the game engine otherwise is rock solid - super silky frame rate and lovely vibrant colours.
I’m glad they made it but as you say the 3 new tracks are very “minimum effort”. Simply nothing memorable about them.
Shame we never got Scud Race or Daytona 2.
There's an issue with the deadzone on the analog stick. There's zero issue playing it on an aracde racer wheel.
Controls are great on Dreamcast, just remove some sensitivity if you play with the pad.

@@SamaSaku1 That really isn't the point, though. the D-pad isnt really that great for racing games as it gives you limited control over things.

I never liked the cartoony graphics of the dreancast daytona usa,i much rather the look of the arcade version.
I wished we has of gotten the arcade version them days and was disappointed when i first seen the dreamcast version.
It was years later we finally got a 100 perfect arcade port of daytona on the xbox 360 and ps3

Daytona on Dreamcast is a different game with the official Sega Wheel and pedals, and force feedback.

i'm glad i got tha 360 port in 2022 because now u can't even buy it anymore :/ wow i'm glad i rushed out to buy it on XBOX Marketplace and bought it before it got delisted on XBOX Marketplace and i won't be surprised it's due to tha Daytona licensing situation :/

I really enjoyed Daytona 2001, but I wish they tried to integrate some of the Daytona 2 tracks. I know the system is not a match for Model 3, but even simplified levels would have been great.
Good suggestion on my que. I thought it was a good port, until I downloaded the arcade version on the Xbox 360. Nice to have the extra tracks, but it doesn't handle properly enough.

@@charliepalmer3244 No problem with both pad and Wheel (Mc2). Dreamcast pad is better to play Daytona for me than Xbox 360 pad.
These are literally the worst controls I have ever experienced in a racing game. I don’t know what they were thinking about when they made this because sega rally has some of the best handling I’ve ever experienced in a racing game. And I’m going to be honest. When I used the wheel it was disappointing. It went from a 3/10 to a 5-6/10. This is a game I recommend you burn first to make sure you really really want it before you spend the money one this game for the Dreamcast.
The Model 2 board produced better graphics then the Dreamcast. Daytona USA looked better in the arcade, the Dreamcast graphics were different but not better. Nothing tops the arcade. Model 3 was more powerful than their Namoi board. So sad what's happened to Sega.
The model 2 board produced graphics then the Dreamcast???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 This is funny....Dead or Alive 2, Soul Calibur, Ferrari F355 and much more games are superior then model 2....and the Dreamcast/Naomi is superior of model 3 (3000000 poligons vs 1500000), for example Ferrari f355 have much more poligons in the car with shadow effects in real time and 640x480 res, model 3 have 496x384 res and the games like scud race and daytona 2 have low number the poligons for the cars and don't have Shadow effects, another example is crazy taxi 2 with high resolution texture Shadow effects in real time, more poligons for the cars and open world area (not closed like scud and daytona 2)
@lucasmafyo9076 I don't care that you find the truth funny, IQ was far superior than the budget Naomi board. Polygons is but a small part of the equation, just because it could push more didn't make it better. The IQ and stability of Model 2 games have stood the test of time and puts it above that budget board. Model 2 and 3 still look good, Naomi games and the weaker Dreamcast games not so much.
@@deepblue8143 So why model 2 games like Dynamite Cop and Virtua Cop 2 has better graphics on Dreamcast than on Model 2 ? Dreamcast even has higher resolution than model 3.
@SamaSaku1 tha Naomi board which the Dreamcast was based on was a budget board. Numbers lie and it is very easy to draw conclusions without proper context. I find this quote to be quite interesting, Numbers never lie, after all: they simply tell different stories depending on the math of the tellers.” I was raised in the arcades thanks to being alive in the heyday of the 80's and 90's. I have a Dreamcast right next to me and Daytona USA looks like a budget game compared to the arcade. Strange that a Model 2 game looks better than a Naomi game, hmm... Finally, FINALLY we got the Daytona port we deserved which I play regularly on my Xbox. Once again Model 2 and 3, hell even 1 games still stand the test of time compared to their Dreamcast counterparts. Shame most of the arcades have been lost to time.
@@deepblue8143 Dayton Usa is mindblowing for 1994, I Can understand that you prefer it for the style of the graphics (I love the look of the model 2 games too). But Daytona on Dreamcast display more cars and has even less clipping than the Xbox 360 arcade port.
Bad, daytona usa 2 is still the best. 2001 has a great graphic, but the gameplay is bad
