That‘s right. This disgustingly enjoyable little trip to Gran Canaria, like all good things, must come to an end.
But not before I hoover up the last remaining ridiculous twisties and then give you a detailed roundup of all of the gear that I‘ve used on this trip.

@@AndyManCam Well, if you, the hipster w4nker had to google it, it's probably NOT hipster then? ;) :p :D I like them because they are not a massive US conglomerate (they are a small French company), offer CD quality on everything and hi-res on a pretty decent proportion, AND offer an API to integrate with my Squeezeboxes and my Wiim Pro Plis (you'll now probably have to google Squeezebox/Logitech Media Server/WiiM? ;) :p :D :D ))

Awesome series. Just came home from GC and rented 3 different bikes with Canary Ride. The twisties on that island is out of this world. How do they even get permission to build a road on every single mountain? But certainly enjoy it! 😁

Great mini series Andy and perfect antidote for that dead period in the early new year - that said I did see a daffodil out the other day so first stirrings.. Have to say my Knox mk1 has been the single best piece of riding gear I've ever bought, it's a veteran of eight years and five European tours now and still going strong. Might see if the pension runs to a Mk3 for this year - although the Nishua helmet does look tempting....

What an awesome series Andy. Makes me want to go to Gran Canary and ride. We have a shit of a winter hear in Northern Ontario Canada. Little snow, and I think only a handful of typically cold days.

Great video i have a question do you get medical cover when you hire the bike or dod you buy it separately 🤔 keep up the good work 😁
Thanks Terry! Medical cover is definitely something you have to take care of yourself. As a European, I’m still entitled to emergency care in Spain. But even so, have an extra foreign medical insurance policy as part of my breakdown cover. (ADAC)

Off-the-wall question: Why, in Spanish-speaking Gran Canaria, do they have STOP signs instead of whatever "stop" is in Spanish? Seems to also be the case in some other countries where English is not the language of choice.
That's an easy one. First international agreement for traffic signs in Paris 1909, second in Vienna 1968 and later on some more. These meetings have helped to standardise traffic signs in Europe and thus ensure a better understanding of the traffic situation. And as someone who travels alot through Europe, I'm very thankful for that. 🙂
@@ElGreco291 Interesting, thanks :) I guess the exit signs on a motorway are not "important" or considered safety info/signs, so they can continue to make Brits giggle every time they go past the "Ausfahrt" sign.... (I once had a mate that thought there were lots of villages called "Ausfahrt" in Germany... LOL ;) :D :D )
It’s important to also remember that in Germany and Spain at least, they actually do use the word ‚stop‘.

@@AndyManCam yeah they do have one but I wouldn't get it as it's £45 for a piece of plastic and it makes the camera bulkier. Was thinking of getting their lapel mic but not sure it's worth the hassle of sending it back if it doesn't work properly.
Yeah 45 quid is pretty lumpy for a piece of plastic with some connectors!
We were riding on neighbouring Tenerife just last week. Amazing weather, stunning scenery. Canary Islands are a perfect winter riding destination 👌

We're going there in April :) havend watch the series yet gone watch it after we went there. We're doing the round trip on grand and Tenerife:) it's a shame the dessert x was not available..but we got a transalp and African twin happy with those :)

A grand finale to a super series, Andy.
Those fantastic roads so smooth, even the minor ones, and so unlike the potholes, sunken drain holes, skiddy loose chippings, etc. that we have to suffer on the UK's rubbish roads.

A lovely slice of summer sun, twisty roads and some mad man getting lost (again) has helped no end in banishing the winter blues. Bring on the 2024 riding season, its almost here...
