254 one of the best saws Husqvarna ever made, I had heated handles, which helped with the vibration/ circulation on the hands. Modern saws have much inproved anti vibration, which we now take for granted. but I still have a fond memories for the 254.
It's a good day when the sun's out and you have a chance to run some great classic saw's, It's an even better day when you get to share the experience with people you care about in your life.
Ah yes the screamers. Back when all that we cut was pulpwood. In small wood like 10 inch jackpine or aspen the 254 out performed the 262. Loved them both.
It looks like it is warm in the upstate, based upon the clothing you are wearing. It has been a long cold winter, here. We have had a few warm days but then now has eight coats of Linsheen on itcomes the rain, wind and cold. I have spent most of it in the house. I cranked up a few of my saws a few weeks ago but it has been close to freezing every day, since. I picked up a Granfors Small Forest axe this month and immediately began putting a good linseed oil finish on the handle. It now has eight coats of Linsheen on it. It will have ten when I am through. Linsheen protects and gives good purchase to the handle.
LOVE THOSE OLD 262XP FAST CUTTING SAW I HAD MINE FOR 10 YEARS THEN MY BUDDY FINALLY TALKED ME INTO SALEING HIM THE SAW 😆😆 HE LOVES IT I THINK THE ONLY THING HES GOT INTO IT IS SPARKPLUG ,,FUEL LINE,,FUEL FILTER,,AND AIR FILTER ,,THATS IT
At about 16:20 my 455 xtorq does the same thing. After checking every seal, and pressure and vac testing, and spraying gas around it while running, I finally found a small air leak around the clutch side of the throttle shaft. Makes sense because that is the side the linkage pulls on, causing the most wear on the shaft. Or carb body. Or both.
Beautiful day in the woods, cool collection of saws !
Great to see Bob again. Good video Walt !

254 a lovely saw, had mine in 80's and still runs as sweet as when I got her, ideal for that sort of cutting 🏴👍
A lot of firewood in those tops. Get it. You may need it before winter is over.
Looks like a fun day

Hi everybody. Hi Mr Bob.
Thanks again 👍 ☺️

Kayu nya kering semua 😮😮 , tinggal tebang tebang mantap
My 021 or 024 would zip right through those tops with their 18” bars and .325 RS Stihl chains. 18” Stihl bars are really 19.5” bars.
What diameter is big enough to drag out for firewood?
Something every one has to decide for themselves. I take out anything more than 6 inches
If you had to pick one Walt, would you pick a 254, 257, or 262?
254 all day long. The 257 is an open port "almost 262", the 254 a little ripper that will match a 262 at times. An RPM saw.
No winter ! No Summer or to much of it .. Cut wood while it is still cool ..
Hi bob
Them stihl chain iiiiii iiiii don’t like 👍 them to soft of a steel for chainsaw chain . Probably alright on bread saw . 😮
the teeth on stihl chain is harder than the teeth on a oregon chain and thats a fact.
Hard to tell you and your apart from a distance lol
Yeah, I tell him if he doesn't get a move on, he will look like me :)
