Next year, Marino will be 19yrs old. The last position player to be called up at 19yrs was Junior Caminero in 2023. In AA that season, he hit .309/.373./548 in 81 games. Before him, the last player to make the majors at 19 was Juan Soto in 2018. Over 39 games split between high-A, low-A and AA, Soto slashed .362/.462/.757. Currently at 18, Marino is slashing .235/.299/.343 in AA in 77 games. While Marino has incredible upside, the majors should not even be an option next season unless he dramatically improves his hitting in AA. What makes you think he can hit MLB pitching if he can barely hit 60-70 overalls
For training players, I believe you should care less about fielding and defense and just work on the bats of guys like Walker and Marino. In the sim, contact vs right and discipline are the most important attributes for sustained hitting success. Continuing to boost those hitting attributes will serve you much better than trying to turn players into decent fielders, as good offense is way more important than good defense for baseball imo.
this might be considered cheating but nootbaar really deserves a potential boost for how good he’s been playing. without one i’m worried he’ll regress and considering he’s 28 and playing amazing baseball you’d think he would just keep getting better from here.
i agree with this - i wish mlb the show potentials were more dynamic, a guy like nootbaar who has been playing so consistently well for a couple years now should be seeing improvements to his overall and potential, certainly not regression
@@FTLnovaKidit seems like pretty much all sports games aren’t great with progression, madden u just have to play guys, 2k they reach near their potential more often than not, and the show just has bad regression, once u hit year 10 it’s basically all downhill even if the guy is 32 or something
You're definitely pronouncing Robert's name correctly. If you go to the MLB White Sox Roster page, they have a section for player name pronunciation, and Robert pronounces his name RO-bur, but with a bit of rolling of the first R... RRRRO-bur. 😄
I've been watching this series and your twins series a lot lately almost 2 videos a night lol but I've noticed your biggest issue is pitching especially relievers. I think if you don't get any good relievers in the free agency you should definitely consider packages a few players ( C-B potentials prospects) you can get a few good relievers. Maybe also bring up a few AAA starting pitchers and move them into the bullpen and see how they work in that position in spring training
Cane you could maybe move Miller to a closing role for the postseason and use Helsley as a set up man, and even though miller gives you the ability to pitch him multiple innings, you could use kopech for that since he used to be a starter. Also you could adjust millers velo since he can hit speeds similar to Helsley. Just a few thoughts
I picture Miller almost in the same role as Ashby in the A’s franchise. Go out and dominate for 2-3 innings and then go to the closer. Helsey just hasn’t been a good closer so it’s definitely a good idea l
You could use a version of what mlb power pros did. During spring training you are allowed one move. That move can be either be giving someone a secondary position or switching a secondary to primary
Been following for a while. Love the content. Question: is there a video where you share your franchise settings? If not, would you mind sharing? Sometimes I find it to be a bit unrealistic
in my franchise i drafted a great A potential closer who was an 80 by year 3, when i called him up and he struggled switching him into the setup role and putting a different reliever in the closer role helped right the ship
I think Marino would be good at either 2B or 3B. He'd be an average fielder in both of those positions with room to develop and it would fit the MLB roster better
Sometimes I wonder if it'd make more sense if every player's potential defaulted to B and after a couple years, or at certain ages, it would regress one rank or go up one rank depending on player performance. You could probably still have a handful of generational A potentials in each rookie year, but there'd only be like ten of them.
The overall might be tempting, but something just doesn't feel right to me about calling up Marino. He's hitting in the .230s against minor leaguers. Loperfido would make a better infield callup, I think. Maybe switch him with Norris who isn't playing? Or call up Lesko to see if he might stabilize the pen a bit more. Can't wait for the next one, Cane! High stakes baseball is the best baseball.
I’m gonna call it now; I guessed it would take 5 years to win a Championship with the A’s and it really took 6. I’m saying it’s gonna take 6 years to get to the Conference Series, but I don’t think we’ll make the World Series until year 7💯
@@marquisbrown9400 I think he does sometimes if it's egregious enough. I think I remember him doing similar stuff in the A's franchise occasionally. Maybe Cane's philosophy is different now or I just am misremembering though.
I feel like you need to get a backup closer or somebody that is worthy to close out games as well in case Helsey blows a save or has pitched 2 much and can’t go. I think bender or Moore would be great for that
I like the Marino thought abt 3rd base but I hope u aren’t just doing it because you’re at a loss of what to do at the position after Arenado. I like him having the flexibility but don’t think it should be his main position.
Im not the first to say this, but Lars shouldnt be regressing. You should manually fix that. Hes not old and hes having a great season. It doesnt make sense. It wouldnt be cheating, just fixing a mistake.
People mostly seem to think the Show’s progression system is broken, but I think it’s perfect. For one, in season changes are fluid and mostly change at the start of every new month. Changes for better or worse are based on potential and player performance the previous month. The same way it works in RTTS is how it works in franchise. Good contact swing? ++ contact. Good average swing? + contact and power. Good power swing? ++ power. Strikeout looking? - vision. Strikeout swinging? - discipline It of course works like that for all the other stats as well. Another problem is that many seem to believe a player should constantly continue to develop if they are playing well. The potential ratings are fluid; I’ve had players go from B to C potential, and D to C, etc. I’m not sure exactly what determines this. It seems to be more random and/or age dependent based on how I’ve observed the changes.
19:00 The reason he (Victor Scott) had a good start is because you had him in the 9 spot…he isn’t good enough to be a lead off hitter please take him out of your lead off he isn’t helping in that position he was soooo much better in the 9 spot.

I’ve been watching this series for awhile and i must say that it’s pretty frustrating to see you not protect the plate and prolong the at bats you’re getting. Please start swinging at pitches that are close to the strike zone because it’s awfully frustrating that you give pitchers shorter at bats and longer outings.
Cane goes through periods where he either swings at nothing unless it’s in the middle or where he swings at everything no matter how far off the plate it is. I feel like at this point it’s kinda just who he is.
@@glendenirby9704i understand this happens; i can’t help being upset watching it but that’s how he is. I can only hope he’s at least seeing my feedback
with the settings he’s on looking for a down the middle pitch before having 2 strikes is great- leads to more harder hit balls but with two strikes some adjustments could be made😂😂 but come on Cane has never been a tier 1 gamer but most of watching aren’t either. i suck at mlb
for next season you should consider lowering pitcher control to 4 (maybe 3) and raising pitcher consistency to 6 or 7, you're having an unrealistic number of 0-2 & 1-2 counts on the cpu. This puts the cpu in a hole too often & causes them to swing at pitches way out of the zone. Also consider changing called strikes from umpire personalities to perfect, if you hit the edge where half the ball is in the zone & half is out sometimes it's a called ball & sometimes it's a strike on perfect but the umps don't really have different personalities in the game they're all pretty much Angel Hernandez with random bad calls all over the place, this also causes the cpu to be less disciplined as its coded to know those can be called a strike, plus it won't be long until robot umps are in the MLB, its already being used in triple A this season. And yes to created minor league parks in adds variety as you're not playing in the same park home and away
