The names aren't very descriptive, are they? Telemann wrote hundreds of pieces Paganini has dozens of caprices (2 in fact) By loose definition they're all "fiddle tunes".
Thank you miss McKay Lodge, and thank you dear Voices of Music, for bringing to us the best of music and performers. You yourselves are always astounding! Be safe and happy.
Initially when I read that Augusta performed Bach and then Paganini, two completely different worlds, I thought she was mad or unconscious. Then, listening to her, I immediately changed my mind, in reality she is very good and very versatile. I think that few are able to play a Capriccio of Paganini with a baroque violin without chinrest and shoulder rest; Augusta is a true prodigy, she succeeds. I appreciated all his proposals including, the pieces of Scottish folk music.
You are so versatile. My husband and I have enjoyed your concert for Voices of Music in Berkeley and you deserved the long standing ovation. The fiddle music really rocked. We hope to see you at a lot more Berkeley live concerts.
Gone Yersel Lassie, proud of you as I’m sure all of Scotland. Love all of Voices of Music performances, kept us sane during these difficult times.Best Wishes to all of you amazing musicians!!!
I remember seeing the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra a few years ago, and they ended their concert with Hoedown from Copland's Rodeo. The cellists, right before they came in, all did a big, unison twirl with their cellos. They all had huge, silly grins on their faces as they did it, as did everyone in the audence. I thought of that here where, at the end, you couldn't stop yourself from beaming as you played. That sheer love of music making and joy it seems to bring you is truly infectious! Thank you for sharing that love.
Wonderful! The most moving playing of Bach's Great Chaconne I have heard - it sang and danced. A real joy; not the relentless, showy, performances I know. Superb programme ending with delightful fiddle music.
I really enjoyed hearing every note played so clearly i this UHD video. So intimate. It allowed me to hear all the subtle nuances in the Chaconne. Bravo
What an action-packed rep list for this “casual” concert. Just one of the hardest Bach movements and one of the least forgiving (and imho least rewarding) Paganini caprices. Very well done!
I studied music at the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Augusta. Also from Ohio (eastern) and almost went to Indiana U for grad school. Thanks for sharing your awesome talent!
Playing a Paganini caprice is already fiendishly difficult on a modern violin, and here you are playing one on a freaking baroque violin. If I were wearing a hat, I would take it off to you.
Oh my God, So Amazing, So beautfull, So Incredible. Lady you are fantastic; your expression is wonderful, perfect. I´ve watched this video many, many time and one each time I understand a new element, a new way: this is amazing. I have watched and watch other videos too and, like this one, you give us a splendid performance. My Name is Décio, I live in Portugal/Fafe and I study violin. So, I´d like knows, if you, some day, it comes to here (Portugal). (please, I hope yes). Thank you so much to if read this text and I wish you continued success in your life and career.
Thank you so much for this concert. I don't play violin, my "froggi's" english is probably pathetic, but wanted to write that I like your conception of the chacone, the remindung idea of a dance mixed with the total beauty and emotion of this work. As I heard your bow technique, your way of "activating" immediately the strings let me think at Isaac Stern playing.
Oh my Goddess! I am atheist, but this is a real miracle made in person by a goddess! Awesome, wonderful! Thanks to you , Augusta, you make magic into you performance because your proximity to the audience.
If you have RUclips in your TV, it should work! Or if your TV has an Internet browser. Try the link, it should show the countdown screen now. We will be online 15 minutes early.

Gosh. No chin rest and no shoulder rest? 😲 I'm in awe. Very good.

Wonderful, warm lively sound clear intonation in double notes
Continuously shivering with eyes closed. Great music
For this video "give a like" is not enough...God bless you!!!
Wow, the warmer sound of the baroque violin really works well for the chaconne. Well done!

Hi Augusta, is it possible to get a copy of the sheetmusic of the last piece? Thanks again for the lovely concert.
hi! The tunes are actually readily available on imslp. They are selected from the collections of Simon Fraser, Robert Bremner, and Daniel Dow. Enjoy!
I'd usually say good hand eye coordination. In this case I've to say good hand feet coordination for the Scottish fiddle

Which mic was used to capture audio?

@@VoicesofMusic Great! the sound is really awesome. But it costs too much for me, i will stick with a cheaper Blue Snowball mic for now :(

Terrific performance! And, is it just me, or do I detect a hint of a French accent sneaking in there from time to time?
