The problem is that Real Madrid don't have a playmaker in midfield to control the game and to support this brilliant attacking line. Tchouameni is a fairly versatile but completely overvalued midfielder who lacks control and vision. Bellingham is a superstar but he lacks the ability to dictate the game of Rodri, or the passing range of peak Pogba. They need someone like Vitinha to provide the supply to their attacking talent. Otherwise teams will press high to cut the supply and isolate their attack from the rest of the squad.
Bellingham is an average player, that’s easy to notice when he doesn’t play alongside a world class midfielder, he can’t hold the ball that well, not a great passer and his vision is limited. Without Kroos and Modric Real Madrid would struggle a lot especially against teams that sit deep

@@BC-mj7gj Come on, Bellingham's a great box-to-box midfielder much like Gerrard was (with a different skill set and arguably a higher upside), but he doesn't have the technical finesse in tight spaces or the passing repertoire to control the game in midfield. Gerrard didn't either and that's why Xabi Alonso complemented him so well. I agree that without Kroos, Real Madrid are going to struggle with getting out of the press to provide the supply their attack needs.

It is ridiculous to even think or say that Real Madrid won La Liga even before it started, and also to say that the gap will be around 15 points is just insane. Real Madrid have a better squad yes, but there are few factors that could hinder Real Madrid. With the absent of Kroos and Modric getting older, Real Madrid would not take control of most of their games Because Bellingham is just a typical English midfielder who can run and add some goals but he can’t control games, the same for Valverde. Mbappe is not a centre forward and he would always be switching to the left and that occupies Vinicius best position. Barcelona have a very young squad with a lot of midfielders who can hold the ball so well and the addition of Olmo gives them a different dimension in the attacking prospect, they have a good coach and all these factors combine together should make anyone who understands football that no one team is just running away with the league. Shame on these fanboys who are doing a pundits job to analyse the game and not kissing one club whilst hating on another.

We have chemistry issues to develop (of course with Mbappe) and this is most of our star players preseason. The midfield was exposed as we can’t control games without Toni Kroos. Also, the team can’t be as spaced out as they were today. Tchouameni and Valverde were on their own to much today. It’s August, we don’t have all the answers but i’m sure Carlo will figure everything out. A draw is not the end of the world.

I am a fan of Carlo but it seems his biggest weakness is his habit of using talented substitutes too late. It feels like an old school 90 minutes approach from his playing era. This game in particular was an excellent opportunity to utilize his subs for the following reasons: 1. They had just played an important Supercup final that was physically and emotionally demanding. 2. Being so early in the season, the players are not in mid season match fitness form. 3. They then had to travel to Mallorca to play on the road. 4. Ancellotti complained that the players were not pressing enough and not as unit. It seems unreasonable given the fact that they are not fully match fit and are fatigued, which is normal. If the players were not pressing enough, that’s more of a reason to substitute earlier, not with only a few minutes left. 5. The substitutes Madrid has are not borderline players, they are outstanding talents. Brahmin has shown what he can do time and time again. He brings speed, energy and creates danger for the opposition. Arda Guler when given minutes at the end of last season showed why he is called the Turkish Messi. He should have also been in the game with 20-30 minutes left. And then we have Endrick who may end up being the best of them all when all is said and done. He would have come in full of energy and desire and could have caused problems for Mallorca immediately. I would have substituted all three strikers with 20 minutes remaining and turned the substitutes loose. At least there would have been more energy on the field with fresh legs. Regarding Carvajal, he had one of his very rare poor games and using Lucas V earlier could also have had a positive impact. With all the factors involved of traveling twice in one week, playing a final and then the opening game of La Liga, it was normal the players would be fatigued. Not the best use of his team by Ancelotti in my humble opinion. Hopefully he will adjust and better use the talent he has available. If not, we will have to hope Davide will have more influence with substitutions the way he insisted Joselu come in and score twice against Bayern last year. Crisis? Not yet, but how long will Arda and Endrick be satisfied sitting on the bench…
Everyone kept saying we missed kroos while actually his absence wasn't the case instead Rodrigo, mbape and vini all running and attacking the left side leaving the centre and right wing exposed. Secondly selfish play with non charlant attitude among them, unnecessary dribbling and back flicks
It’s quite simple. While Don Perez was doing his squad planning he forgot to sign a technical midfielder.. and after Kroos left they closed their window. Madrid handled Benzema’s absence quite well but Kroos leaving might cost Madrid this La liga title, there are much better teams than mallorca in this league that can dominate this madrid midfield. It might get worse.. i think Ancelotti should consider trying Arda Guler in that midfield
On my side, Madrid attacked using one side, all the long pass were given to Vini which made Rodrygo ended up going to LW and Mbappe too. That made it easy for Mallorca to defend
