Not going to lie took me years to understand what this meant And Tbh I still don't but this is my interpretation But I had to understand the rest of the lyrics first. A gun, I feel stupid for not noticing this for years at first I thought this song was to do with religion but there's two things that give this away. 1. "waiting for my finger" being the trigger on a gun. 2. The second verse where he says "It must be easy to hold your tongue now with help from a forty-five" (the forty-five references the type of handgun, meaning at this stage he's holding her hostage with the gun. "We both look better in the dark so I'll do it while were sleeping, that way I will not reflect my father's defining feature. I won't feel a thing if you don't" He's going to kill her whilst she sleeps, he doesn't want her to see him whilst he does the dead. If he can do it with out a scream or teardrops he feels like he could pull the trigger, hence being in a dark room and her being asleep. "Feel what I feel and you'll find faith to believe in, God I need you, because I am familiar with the Devil." Feel what I feel to me is a reference about being dead inside, The God comments I think are to do with these dark thoughts overwhelming him and as a Christian he's reaching out to God to stop himself, however when he references the devil he is talking about her.
