Very emotive. Gio did a very sympathetic showdance with Debbie literally in the centre of the stage. She's kept as a figure in a trinket box, and then SCD morphed her into a confident, beautiful lady, awakening her love for and talent she had for dancing. A moving piece. Well done, Giovanni! 9.5
I think Gio went into an essentially pure ballet routine (discounting those spins and lifts). And to dance this in front of the top ballerina Darcy is always going to be a dangerous move. She hesitated a little in some of her balance and Gio not being a ballet dancer meant he wasn't able to be there as a perfect support to Debbie. But I am being picky. Debbie moved me to no end in this dance and Gio is very brave, and selfless. Doing something out of HIS comfort zone.
Agreed - I was worried this would be too saccharine but it wasn't. It was lovely and emotional. I know, risky in front of Darcy but I think they pulled it off. Those splits with arms in fifth were immensely difficult. I would have given it a 10 - I was moved and, when it comes right down to it, I think that's what it's all about.
Absolutely beautiful! Debbie at her best. I hear the public outcry about her ballet training advantage. God dam right, she’s amazing!!! I loved Alexander and Joe too, but Debbie’s performances always bring a little tear to my eyes. Well done D.E.B.B.I.E
She has been the best celebrity dancer when out of hold and on her own and has done moves and lifts that others dare not try , she hasn't got the glitterball but she has won our hearts ❤
Fabulous song, great choreography, it was pure magic on the dancefloor. So elegant, flawless movement, so touching. It was flawless, magnificent, sophisticated... seamless transitions between steps, amazing story, great lines and lifts. A 10.
Beautiful, beautiful dance which showed off Debbie to perfection. So sorry she didn't win the glitterball but she's a winner in my eyes. Well done Debbie and Giovanni for brilliant choreography.
Now that I have properly watched the series from beginning to end (thanks BritBox!), I have fallen in love with this dance even more. Brilliant storytelling that reflected Debbie's journey and showed off their chemistry so well. That I do kind of want them to be a couple is a really reflective of how lovely they dance together.
If you were in Debbie's position you would play to your strengths, I don't think the fact that she was a dancer nearly 4 decades ago undermines the fact that this was a beautiful dance 💛
This is the dance where I think they lost the title because it reminded the audience of her previous ballet training. ( I am not saying that I do not like it I think it was one of there best dances and certainly the best show dance )
No - they never had a chance at the title. Joe went in polling at 75%. He was just popular. This was dancing for the sake of dancing, and so was lovely.
You're totally right. Just because Debbie had ballet experience, it didn't automatically mean that she was going to take to Ballroom. In fact, it just highlights what a natural dancer she was and to my mind, the fact that she really deserved to win. And people also seem to conveniently forget that Tom Chambers, another great contestant, did a tap number for his show dance a few years ago.
i completely agree because the show is about non dancers and even tho it was a long time ago Debbie still went to the royal ballet school the same school as Darcy bussle so i do feel she would have won if she had chosen a different style
I loved when she did the splits as she is 59 years old (sorry for saying that because she does the splits all the time and we all know she's 59). Lovely lift again that lift is also used in her American Smooth. Very Darcey Brussel style and a overall nice Showdance. 10
Late comment I know, but those were slow splits with her arms in fifth - very difficult. As with all leg extensions, it's easy for flexible people to kick their legs out - you have an assist from momentum there - but to extend slowly and hold in position is much more difficult. This is something Darcey knows all about - as a prima ballerina she had extraordinary flexibility and strength - much more than any of the Strictly pros who don't need to do the same sort of thing. The first year or two she came on the show she danced (although out of her comfort zone), but what all the pros commented on was how staggering it was watching her do a warm up.
This was such a beautiful and graceful dance that i personally think was under scored, again for debbie, andihonestlythinkdarcyonlygaveheraninebecauseshesaballetdancerbecauseshegaveliterallyeveryotherdancea10
Can't believe people are still moaning about her (over 30 years ago) ballet training, Joe won fgs. This is Debbie at her most expressive and lyrical and she described it as a gift from Giovanni so I think that they just wanted to enjoy their final dances together.
An excellent dance, but to be honest a former professional ballet dancer would always be expected to perform a dance like this well. I suspect this dance reminded viewers of all her professional training!
Former...30 years ago. It is yoga and pilates that have kept her fit and supple. Her grace, extension and timing is natural to her. The ;people the used it against her, were always against her and have constantly promoted the lies as truth. I think it was about Debbie being the dancer she once dreamed of becoming, but she gave it up but in her heart she is still a dancer, who had her talent away. If she wasn't fit all the training in the world could not have produced a dance like that. And I think Giovanni enjoyed it, it was his choreography.
I mean it makes sense that a former professional ballerina who owned her own dance company and attended the Royal Ballet School would be able to do a ballet-themed dance. I'm so happy she didn't win.
This is so beautiful. Debbie has true grace and elegance. One of the best dances of the night.
SCD Observer just letting you know you're doing the lords work with these comments love them
Why did you knock off the.5?

SCD Observer read and loved all your comments through out the whole of the series as I loved knowing someone else’s opinion. Thank you
Holly Chandler aw. Thank you. It was a great series wasn't it?
Absolutely beautiful! Debbie at her best. I hear the public outcry about her ballet training advantage. God dam right, she’s amazing!!! I loved Alexander and Joe too, but Debbie’s performances always bring a little tear to my eyes. Well done D.E.B.B.I.E

Ohhh... it's so beautiful. It's a girl's dream to be the ballerina in the musical box. I hope she wins! Well done to both of them...
The best of the 4 showdances in my opinion.
They dance beautifully and Debbie will make anybody that allows age to become their barrier, to think again and push on with living to the max.
She is so pure and authentic! Although she did have balance issues at times she is graceful! 10.
This dance was beautiful and so pure. These two have the best partnership, connection and chemistry of Strictly 2017.
Fabulous song, great choreography, it was pure magic on the dancefloor. So elegant, flawless movement, so touching. It was flawless, magnificent, sophisticated... seamless transitions between steps, amazing story, great lines and lifts. A 10.
Fantastic show dance , brilliant choreography yet again from Giovanni, the trophy should have been Debbie and Giovanni's. I love this dance
Beautiful, beautiful dance which showed off Debbie to perfection. So sorry she didn't win the glitterball but she's a winner in my eyes. Well done Debbie and Giovanni for brilliant choreography.
That was pure goodness made me cry 😭 I hope they win this year Giovanni really deserves it 🙌
Just magnificent, Debbie McGee. You did yourself proud the whole series. Well done girl!!
Stunningly beautiful and was a joy to watch
By far my favourite dance I have ever seen on strictly. Love you Debbie!! Also please win😊
Alexandra Bamford I agree!! I'm gutted that she didn't win!! Joe was my second pick though! Well done to him and Katya!!😄
Graceful .... Just so elegant and graceful!!!!
I thought this was beautiful, Debbie looked lovely in the dress and the song was sung lovely to- perfect combo!
That was truly truly beautiful ..so elegant ...excellent choreography again . .so believable ..best on the night ..

Sheer perfection! My winner!
Beautiful
May they dance till the end of time ....
Love this. Debbie is so gutsy. Just running through Giovanni videos :D
Just beautiful, makes me sad she or Alexandra never won because they were both just outstandingly talented.
Just lovely.

Wonderful
Truly lovely dance. One of my top 3 show dances, along side Louis' and Tom Chamber's.
Fantastic Debbie you were brilliant no moaning and groaning you did I it and should have won !

Giovanni the Napoli Prince
I'm not the biggest fan of ballet but she did really well
Can't believe people are still moaning about her (over 30 years ago) ballet training, Joe won fgs. This is Debbie at her most expressive and lyrical and she described it as a gift from Giovanni so I think that they just wanted to enjoy their final dances together.
Crazy how Craig AND DARCEY did not give 10s. Hope to god that she wins
Cause darcy is a professional ballerina so she could stop tiny mistakes
This was my favourite show dance, but did give her an advantage as she did ballet for 20 years, she was amazing but Joe was the right one to win
She stopped doing ballet 35 years ago!
Think she should have won. And it’s 2021 now .

Beautiful routine, even if it did play on her previous Ballet experience
Cm
They should have won.
I wasn't overly wowed by this dance, but still thought it was pretty. Also, Debbie shows age shouldn't get in the way.
It waas graceful, elegant and flowing. At some pionts her footwork got a bit lazy and it lacked in content. 9

Ooh here’s an idea put Debbie in ballet shoes to remind everyone that she’s a trained ballet dancer.......
So where was the dancing from her? all i see is spinning and being held up.
I saw that, too.
I mean it makes sense that a former professional ballerina who owned her own dance company and attended the Royal Ballet School would be able to do a ballet-themed dance. I'm so happy she didn't win.
