      Idk, I’ve found that baby turtles love to wedge themselves into tight places for their own safety, and while you might at first panic about them getting stuck, they really know how to get themselves in and out of tight spaces

      @@patrickstanley7211 I've had to rescue my baby painted from drowning himself in his own tank a half dozen times because of that. Now my moto is, better safe than sorry.

    Kenan u have so many rare turtles you should get a few more commen turtles to educate new turtle owners that arnt going to have rare turtles I think u should get a few hatchlings of different species that can go in that tank with the diamond back terrapin like a painted turtle or something like that

    With the amount of space you have, you can make make the whole porch under the shade there to be long wide aquarium or evena terrarium, where you can raise the new borns. IT would be great as a display piece and a beautiful viewing area, especially with LEDs at evening or nights.

    Aquarium painting tip. Put on a very light first coat and let it dry. Then the second coat has something to adhere to and you’ll actually use less paint and have a nicer finished product.

    Aquarium can get heavy very quickly so make sure your stand can support the weight. Water is 8.5 lbs per gallon and a 55 gallon tank empty is 78 lbs. Just filling halfway with water, substrate and decorations will put it over 400 pounds and most standard furniture is not meant to support that much weight.

    As a painter the advice I would give is to peel the tape as soon as you finish the last coat, while the paint is still wet instead of when it is dry. This will avoid that peeling effect. If already dry follow and cut gently along the edge of the tape with a thin sharp blade (exacto blade) to detach the dried paint from the tape

    I also have a 55gal tank with two Marineland 220 pumps. I use river rock for the bottom. My sliders are about 18 months old and will eat all day if I feed them. They are twice the size when I got them. They rearrange the tank and move the plastic plants.
    I used a sheet of jungle paper to wrap around three sides.

    You should do traditional 20-30% water changes once a week to reduce the amonia, nitrates and nitrites from buildingup in the tank. I am sure turtles do not do well in high ammonia situations.

    Kenan!!! I’m so glad you mentioned the Asian pet trade. Recently at the Tinley reptile expo, a rep from LLL Reptile was telling me how the Asians buy SOOOOOO much of their supply and how it’s becoming a huge problem. I would love to know more! Future video! THANKS! XO

    • @windowpane
      @windowpane 4 года назад

      I don't understand how the Asians are buying so much that it's a problem. What problem is that? Maybe they can choose not to ship overseas?

    • @RioCahyadiDrayka
      @RioCahyadiDrayka 4 года назад +1

      @@windowpane it actually can become the problem for the native species if u export it too much. Also if they refuse that many demand, think how much money they just lost, so most seller will try to do anything possible to meet the demand and unfortunately one of that solution is catching a wild one. I think it's good to have some kind of regulation to control that supply/demand, to prevent unwanted thing from happening. Like in Indonesia where i live, the demand for Alligator snapping is huge in here but at the same time there have been many occasions that people catch/see a wild Alligator Snapping in the river, which is insane and dangerous. All of those is probably because they are either escaped or released into the nearby lake/river.

    Well hell. I was on your question and answer video... then I lost it🤷‍♀️. Anyway, please tell me what the lowest temp should be for a sulcata ? My friend just got one... she is approximately 5. She definitely has pyramid shell that is very inconsistent. She eats and is pretty active. I want this girl to live. I believe my friend will do what is needed... if I can give her facts. We live in New Mexico. It’s 20 degrees right now. I am certain she has her in the house... but is that enough?
    Does she need a light UVB? Heat lamp? What temp is good? I certainly don’t want her to die.. or get sick

Use gravity in your favor. Also seeded biological media should of been used. I know you’re not a fish guy, just a few suggestions. Other than that, love your channel dude

However, I honestly wouldn't put any fish or other turtles in with him, especially at that small. Depending on how big the Cichlids are they could bully him or nip him to death or try to eat him. And if those fish aren't all that big... Weeeelll you know he's probably gonna think they're lunch. Otherwise the setup looks great and I hope you do well with him!

    I'm around Kenan's age and can honestly say I'm surprised at
    One, I can honestly say that some turtles are actually cute! Some of them are also nasty bastards, too, but that's true for any living creature on the living planet. Show me a nice creature, I'll show you a nasty one that can't wait to bite if you get too close! I've been bitten by anoles when I lived in Florida. (Little bastards! And I felt bad when they fell into pots and drowned in rainwater, too!) Reptiles in general are more like cats from what I'm seeing here. Unpredictable, cool behavior, and interesting. You never know what you're going to get with some of them.
    And Slinky is undeniably the scene-stealer. He's grown on me. I wouldn't trust him around chicken legs or small children but he's definitely a character.
