Without music i recocnize a slow walz. A foxtrot is really miles beyond.

Yes. This demonstration covers Round Dancing cues for beginners level Foxtrot that are largely based on waltz steps. I am still learning, but believe that more advanced level Foxtrot cues align with traditional ballroom Foxtrot steps.

The basic movements are ballroom. Round dancing is choreographed with a leader (cuer) that provides prompts for the next movement to be performed. A social dancer could use the round dancing choreography as a means of adding to the repertoire.

These demonstrations are OK., But a Social ballroom dancer would never follow him & he wouldn't know how to foxtrot with a social ballroom dancer. There are many differences.

Yes, Round Dancing and Ballroom Dancing are quite different. Most Round dancers are able to dance in a social setting. Round Dancing introduces the element of being able to follow cues so that all the couples are dancing in synchronization around the room.

As someone who does both Round Dance and Social Ballroom the other big difference is that Round Dancing is all International Style Ballroom whereas a lot of what’s done in Social Ballroom is American Style.

@@chelseathompson4945 Round dancing? Never heard of that. How do you explain a square dance then? As just a square dance? What about line dancing is that just "line dancing" or does that have some other name?

      This fails at two levels.
1 it's too complicated for a social dancer
      2. It's too easy for a trained dancer.
      Plus, acoustics are poor..
