- Here's a video of a Huntsman spider molting. I went to the bathroom to fill a bucket when I saw it dangling on a single strand of web. I've never seen them do this so I set my phone up on timelapse to check what it would be doing in this position. Turns out this is how they molt. Amazing!
Thank you for watching!

Had these in my house in Japan. Would startle the crap out of me because of how fast they are. There was an 80% chance they’d run away from you at lightning speed and a 20% chance they instead jump in your direction. And they can somehow manage to vertically climb walls, also at lightning speed.
Everything you said is true hahaha I have experienced one jumping at me during a shower, I panicked and almost slipped.
WAIT YOU LIVED IN JAPAN!?! BRO I'M JEALOUS 😭😭

Wow !!
Npc moment
It takes a lot of unconditional love and compassion for a creature to not find this disturbing and chilling. But I get it.
Right! And, I get it too. However... it would not have had a chance to complete it's molting if that was in my house. Yes, I'm that girl. Nope 👎🏽
@@muganeeh9776 Same!! I would have the biggest bottle of spray I could find and kill it from a distance. Then have someone else throw it out. That's what I did with a huge wolf spider I saw in our house. I made our neighbor come and throw it outside after spraying it so much I knew it was dead and putting a glass over it just in case. No one else was home at our house at the time. So he just laughed at me and threw it out.
@@jennifer7648 that's terrible, I found a wolf spider in my basement before but fortunately it was already dead. The size of it still scared me though. It made me wonder if there were others around still living that I couldn't see.
@@amber619pop Yeah, everyone, including my teen son who was home sick from school that day laughed at me. My cousin laughed and said they always have really big ones in their house. She said she just smashes it with her shoe or a broom and moves on. Yikes 😬 That's a huge nope for me!!
it breaks my heart knowing they kill them instantly when they see it
man they're just tryna settle somewhere and eat every pesky ass pest in your house and nope you just had to put it away
if it's an infestation (if that's even possible with spiders) then sure it wouldn't phase me a little but a single big spider minding it's own business? :((
Spiders are our friends, they are the reason the world is not completely over-run by mosquitos and other pests, and they don't want to hurt us. It's too bad they scare so many people.
Im afraid of them because they give me the creeps I’m sure that’s why a lot of people have arachnophobia
@@YautjaSpacePirate ah yes womenphobia
Spiders are creatures from hell🗿
@irfan nemat spiders are creatures from hell
There are also some very toxic spiders
This position makes a lot of sense, actually- gravity is on their side while they're pulling themself out of their molt. Never seen this kind of thing before, that's awesome!
Even though I have arachnophobia, I still appreciate the cool molting process
Edit: I said I appreciated it . I didn't say I enjoyed looking at that. I like nature, but I fucking hate spiders. They scare the fuck outta me
No you don’t
me too.
Having arachnophobia but being incredibly curious.. I pressed the video.. and actually started tearing up and crying while watching it at the thought of me ever finding myself in the same room as one of these… I’ve also never met a arachnophobic who looked at a spider of that mass molting and was like “that’s cool”…
@@nottheone7688 don’t worry I have terrifying nightmares of them at least once a month to this day, and shivers still go down my spine when I see any kind of spider, whether it be a long legged tan spider with tiny beady eyes (the ones I can’t stand) or a tarantula (I can actually kind of stand it)
@@Smacadoodles i remember the day my family suspected I had arachnophobia. I was at a flag football game for my brothers and I had to use the bathroom. I went into the bathroom and I had already locked the door behind me when I realized the mass amount of huge.. I mean huge daddy long legs.. I started balling my eye’s out cause I felt trapped in there with them, went back to my parents in tears so they ask me what’s wrong, I tell them and they go take a look and have the audacity to say “they are just daddy long legs”.. best believe I did not use the bathroom in there.. I hate having arachnophobia. They are such interesting creatures and I just have to be hardwired to panic in their presence.
I know what you mean. My arachnophobia reaction has reduced in intensity in recent years so I no longer panic, but I still get pretty intense fight or flight and that makes capture and release pretty stressful and difficult, but I usually manage in the end.
My arachnophobia went from "RUN" to "DIE"
Idk how to feel about that

everyone being so fascinated about the spider while my paranoid a*s is glancing around the room looking if there are huntsmen.
What a gorgeous boy! I bet he feels so much better now that he's molted!
Gorgeous girl*
The gender of a Huntsman Spider can be inferred from the shape of their pedipalps and abdomens. Males have little bulbs on the ends of their pedipalps that look like little boxing gloves, and they have small abdomens (usually smaller than the cephalothorax). This one lacks the palpal bulbs, and has a relatively large abdomen, so this is likely a girl.
@@xxfalconarasxx5659 oh thank you! I didn't know that Acctually! I love spiders, even though they absolutely scare me. That Huntsman is absolutely gorgeous though, and while I wouldn't even think about holding her, I would love to see her in person!
You seem to know quite a bit about huntsman spiders though, is there anything else I should know about them? And how would I tell them apart from say a brown recluse or wolf spider?
@@Zephyr_The_Robot Well a Huntsman Spider is usually larger than a Wolf Spider. Wolf Spiders also don't seem to like climbing walls. They usually prefer to be on the floors. I think they do this because they can move faster on the ground, and Wolf Spiders are extremely fast, so take care not to startle them. Recluse Spiders have a lot less setae (the hairs that cover a spider's body), and have a distinct head shape reminiscent of the bottom half of a violin. Recluse Spiders also spin webs to make permanent nests, while the other two species do not, and only really use webs to help them get around. Wolf and Huntsman spiders do not have permanent nests, and will usually move from one place to another. If they have eggs, they will roll them up in a big web ball and carry them around with them. Among Wolf Spiders, hatched baby spiders will hitch a ride on their mother's backs for a while. Not sure if Huntsman Spiders do the same though, but I know they both do carry around the unhatched eggs at least.
@@xxfalconarasxx5659 they Carry their eggs with them?! That's so adorable!!! You seem to know alot about spiders! Do you own any?!

Did you say 'spider molting' out loud around your phone?? Fascinating viewing, great to watch and really eerie at the same time. I’m scared of spiders but that footage had me transfixed. Great job 👏

"Huh? I did it? I'm alive? YES!"
I have arachnophobia but own 40 species of tarantula ( I know has me baffled too 🤷♂️) apparently it’s the way true spiders move that makes you scared of them because they are so fast. Great video nice to see how it molts 🥰

That was way more interesting than I expected. Thanks for sharing
this is one of the rarest moments.
you were so lucky to catch it on camera
thanks for sharing💙
Beautiful! But goodness, it looks exhausted when it first comes out!
I didn't know they did that! Fear of spiders increased
Imagine you get bigger, but because your skin doesn’t grow with you, you’d need to put all your energy into getting rid of this old skin of yours.
Spiders are very vulnerable during a molt. The process is exhausting for them, they can even get stuck and die horribly.
When shedding their skin successfully, they need to recover - their new skin including their fangs are still soft, so they have to harden up.
Tarantulas who are able to kick hairs, usually kick hairs right before they molt to keep away any predators. It’s interesting and super cool.
Very relaxing to watch. Thankyou
the other day my mom and i watched a nursery web spider molt just like this, and i was immediately reminded of this video! we watched it for like half an hour. once it was completely done and discarded its molt, i got it to crawl on my hand! it was such a beautiful spider... my mom and i both love them so it was awesome to get to witness this in person
