    I love science and videos about breakthroughs but why when you watch one do you have to sit thru a recap of everything that ever happened? its like "the new pictures of the moon are great, we first saw the moon thousands pf years ago..." i get they like to do that for new viewers but i wish there was a button that said "new" or "experienced" they would take you to what you need to see.

      You can always skip instead of complaining. And context is important, because how else would you know what’s so impressive about just new pictures. Besides it’s a 6 minute video, I don’t think it’s that much of a waste of time. If you want to just see the pictures google them, seems like an in depth explanation isn’t for you.

    These are the first images I've seen from the James Webb telescope - they're literally jaw dropping. I'm 54 yrs old, and I've had the pleasure of experiencing the steps we've made in finding ways to see with more distance and clarity. I remember being a kid in the 1970's, and the deep feeling of awe as I studied every image of Mars that the Voyager satellites gave us. I now have a huge collection of images taken on the surface of Mars by all the rovers that are there now. My favorite is a picture of a Martian sunset in which you can see the Earth as a small blue dot - I have a large print of it on my living room wall, and it makes me feel so lucky to be living here and now. We can see things that humanity couldn't even dream of for most of our existence.

    "Star formation is not fully understood..'" I have a few questions of my own that I have never found answers to. 1: Where is the raw hydrogen coming from? I thought everything out there now is from multiple generations of previous supernovas. 2: Do supernovas produce a bunch more free hydrogen in addition to heavy elements? 3: Gas tries to spread out and separate from other gas molecules. How can it gather together in the vacuum of space and compress on itself until fusion occurs?

    • @mateicris2804
      @mateicris2804 2 года назад

      So star formation happend at the beggining of the universe it happend when you look through a telescope u see the light from the past today there are some hydrogen clouds that form stars
      From what i know supernovas dont produce hydrogen
      Because some conditions are met preasure and heat parricle clump togherter having a bigger mass and a bigger impact on gravity wich ateacts more molecules to the gas clupmp

    • @KenJackson_US
      @KenJackson_US 2 года назад

      *Scott:* _"Gas tries to spread out and separate from other gas molecules. How can it gather together in the vacuum of space and compress on itself until fusion occurs?"_
      Excellent question. I'm no physicist, but my understanding is that gas pressure is much stronger than gravity at great distances, so it should be impossible to overcome it to form a star. So what overcame it? How did any star ever form?

    • @KenJackson_US
      @KenJackson_US 2 года назад

      @Kalashnikov: _"Eventually it explodes creating lighter form of elements."_
      Black holes explode? I'm not saying they don't, but I've never heard this before. That would seem to violate the axiom that nothing can escape a black hole. Has it ever happened?

    • @KenJackson_US
      @KenJackson_US 2 года назад

      I know about that kind of radiation, @Kalashnikov. It results from the intense gravity acting on passing high energy photons which are split into an electron and a positron (anti-electron) in a process called "pair production". (I first learned about this in 1978 in Navy Nuclear Power School.) If it happens near the event horizon, one particle gets sucked in and the other get's flung away, which looks like radiation, even though it originated outside the event horizon.
      But your explanation doesn't make sense. Wouldn't an approximately equal percentage of electrons and positrons get sucked in, which would cancel? Second, regardless of what happens, my understanding is that black holes ONLY have mass, spin and charge. There's no characterization for percentage of antimatter, right? So what's happening inside that could possibly destabilize them?
      As an aside, if the black hole is charged, wouldn't it tend to slightly attract the particle of opposite charge and slightly repel the particle of same charge? That should tend to reduce the black hole's charge over time.

    • @KenJackson_US
      @KenJackson_US 2 года назад

      @Kalashnikov: _"If nothing escapes black hole then there would have been no radiation around black hole."_
      The radiation to which you refer does NOT escape from the black hole. It originates OUTSIDE the event horizon.
      As far as I understand, anti-particles have the same kind of gravity as other particles. That is, there's no such thing as anti-gravity. Am I right in this understanding?
      Can you at least give me a hint what mechanism destabilizes the black hole?

    The tightly packed dust “globules” that birth stars are technically named Bok Globules, after the astronomer, Bartholomeus Jan "Bart" Bok, the Dutch-American scientist that’s postulated them. His theory was confirmed shortly before his death in 1983. Fortunately, I was able to meet him and attend a lecture given by him in the early 1980s at the University of Washington; a very charming man.

      I will say that they just signed the contract and claim to be gunning for a 2026 launch. That’s pretty quick, so hopefully the Roman telescope isn’t like Musk’s Model 3, because it’ll be falling apart on the way up.

      Actually, JWST is nowhere near the Hubble yet, when it comes to all the pioneering & ground breaking images we have obtained. Nearly all the images made available from JWST are simply retakes of images that Hubble had already imaged.
      JWST cost $10 billion and took 25 years to build, so there will naturally be a lot of self-aggrandizing & hype to justify all those gargantuan costs.
      Majority of the images we have seen so far are a little bit sharper, compared to Hubble; however, that improvement in sharpness can hardly justify those costs.
      Still waiting to see/learn about early universe images & Milky Way bulge images, areas that JWST was designed to help astronomers explore.

    Is this really what we were all waiting for? I don't know about you but I'm waiting for exoplanet pictures. I know they won't be detailed but they'll be a few pixels and you know what? That's honestly awesome. But I'm actually kind of sad we can't see detailed pictures of exoplanets but what are you going to do? There is no known way to do that yet.

    The big question no one is asking.
    Where did the molecular mass of the Orion cluster come from?
    We've always assumed that the clouds of mass come from supernova of existing stars. That would be a pretty big star to create that massive amount of molecular cloud.

    • @KindlingEffect
      @KindlingEffect 2 года назад

      Why does it have to be just one star?
      Q: "Where did the molecular mass of the Orion cluster come from?"
      A: Millions and billions of stars, over billions of years.

    have you noticed that this telescope can look “back in time” but they never point it to Alpha Centauri (the nearest place that should have an earth like planet) or to the Sagittarius constellation (where the mysterious “wow signal” came)? 🤔

      From what I heard certain scientists got in line so the telescope focuses only on one area for x time then moved on as requested so that area has not been mapped yet. The telescope hadn't been online that long.

      The origin of the WOW signal is not known with certainty. There are two fairly large patches of sky the antenna could have been pointed at when the signal was received. The JWST images a tiny spot in the sky. Just saying "the Sagittarius constellation" isn't anywhere near precise enough.

    When the JWST starts really looking back into the early Universe (the first 100 million years) it will see so many galaxies so close together. It is going to see nothing but galaxies. The old Universe (all the mass in a small, maybe earth sized) became, for a short time, a Galaxy Creating Machine! The first thing that this machine did was create one large spiral galaxy with a black hole in the center, between both Sides (of the old Universe, it was an inside job >smile< soon to be new universe) pushing full blast against each other (We should all know because We all had to >smile again< choose sides back then and probably push with all our mental might! We all (all the Beings in this/old Universe) knew what was happening; We were all there; We are all eternal; where else would We all have been at this moment, with our Awareness & Consciousness, We had no form.) creating that first large spiral galaxy with one very large black hole in the center)! The tremendous stress blew both Sides into countless Pieces, each Piece pushing on those near it creating many, many more spiral galaxies (elliptical galaxies got created mostly when the galaxies were close together there were many collisions and that left two elliptical galaxies going on their merry way; and one larger black hole or two black holes orbiting each other going their own way) and other matter. Elliptical galaxies got created in another way where three progenitors act on each other such that the galaxy is created with all the gas being stripped out by the creation) The Progenitors (the old Universe in pieces) that created all this are Quasars now. Most Quasars pushed each other to the perimeter of our new Universe. From there they they form a basket like pattern all around the new Universe. They are responsible for our gravity and moving electromagnetic vibrations and much more. Some Quasars stalled and remained in the physical Universe. The JWST will allow Us to understand what happened back then. We all can see, as well, that We were always a part of whatever this Universe was/is involved in… “out of the One many, out of the many One”

    Thing is.. you need a black hole in order to pull in gravity around it and to hold the gas and matter, so that's how stars and galaxy's form . Certain stars eventually become black holes themselves.. and so the cycle continues.. soooooo how exactly did the first stars form? .. how can you have a black hole BEFORE the first star was even created? ..

    • @hepersopon4459
      @hepersopon4459 2 года назад +1

      you dont need a black hole to form stars. you just need dust and gas to clump together and eventually the bigger that clump gets, it'll have it's own gravity. then it'll attract more dust and gas and it'll collapse under the gravity to form a star

  • @JamesHolben

    It appears that the large vertical gas & dust so said clouds in the Orion Nebula, are attracted to the Quasar stream from another nearby Galaxy. It appears the clouds are attracted to the Quasar Stream, then the Quasar stream runs throughout the center of centered cloud formations of many Elemental fruits. Clearing out the center of the clouds, as the clouds form around & are attracted to the outer radiance of the Quasar stream. Then the Nebula Clouds attracted to the outside of the Quasar stream & meet pressure from the Quasar higher up. Which causes the Nebula Clouds to flow away from the Quasar Stream at the top of the formations of the Nebula Clouds. Then the other Nebula Clouds around the main Nebula Clouds attracted to the Quasar, are attracted to the Nebula Clouds that are most attracted to the Quasar. This should indicate that the elements in the Nebula Clouds around the Quasar are either heaviest or lightest types of Elemental Organic Materials positive Producing cloud formations. Which indicates that the Nebula Clouds around the the main Nebula Cloud most attracted to the Quasar, are going to form different kinds of Solar Systems that are either heaviest or lightest Weight Based. It may be that the elements cloud nearest the Quasar are lighter materials that are easier to move to the center in attracted flows & motion. But could also be the heaviest as the Quasar Stream may actively push lighter materials away from the Quasar easier. Or that the elements attracted most to the Quasar Stream have a specific energy force that attracts to the lighted ionic flow of materials of the Quasar. Which may be cold flowing at that point.
