  • Footage from a strange day in Mugdock. On arrival we found ourselves in the middle of a party where the young locals were busy getting "Bucky'd" . This seemed to consist of drinking enough Buckfast to get to a point where you couldnt stand up straight and then went for an ill advised swim in the quarry. Predictably there were some near drownings. One young girl knocked herself stone cold jumping the cliffs and another had to be dragged back to the side by Lewis as she was in no fit state to swim. Lesson not learned, he again had to get her out of difficulties later. Thankfully everyone made it home safely and the near drownings notwithstanding we had a great day there jumping. #cliffjumping #tombstoning

    Great video. I went for a bike ride up Mugdock during the good weather and found this place. Came back later and ended up jumping in with the young guys, I am 53 years old, life in the old dog yet lol

    Some cracking jumps there Lee. The lad in the care was having a time of it for sure. I'd love to see you talk to some of the jumpers. What makes them tick? Dad and son gymnasts - a good duo. All the best. Mark

    • @TheDoveys
      @TheDoveys  6 лет назад +1

      Ayup Mark. Dad and son gymnasts? I wish lol. I'm the silly old bald headed sod throwing the swallow dive at 0:52 seconds (recently turned 50) and although athletic in years gone by (make that decades) I'm certainly no gymnast. Towards the end of the vid we have Luke 4:22 throwing a side flip. He had a little gymnastics training when he was younger but turned his back on it before he really learned anything that you might see him do in these videos. These days he's into Parkour (Free running). Luke had not long turned 15 when this was filmed at end of May. He's my 2nd oldest son and is a twin with Lewis (Lad in the car). Lewis is the lunatic of the family, he's the one you see throwing the REALLY BIG superman flips such as Porth Island 57ft (already on channel ) Cassis 65ft, again, already on channel, and a monstrous 82 footer at Gorges Du Verdon. That one will likely be released at end of year or early 2019 as I'm miles behind with edits. The cool little dude at 4:31 is my youngest son George. He does Gymnastics and diving and contemporary dance and ballet and a whole host of other stuff too, he's the UK's busiest 10 yr old and also the ballsiest young cliff jumper with a recent 40ft backflip at a quarry in Leicester. That should be released within the next 3 videos. The guy at 4:40 is a lovely lad from Cleckheaton called Matty. He met us online through a shared love of jumping. He's one of the UK's craziest jumpers and he was born in the wrong decade. Matty is a modern day hippy and an all round good guy and my lads think a lot about him, as you can see with George giving him a massive cuddle at the end of the vid. I see where you're coming from about wanting more dialogue in the vids but it poses a bit of a problem for me. These vids are all about the cool young lads out there jumping, I don't think they need a dinosaur in them like me. Maybe when my lads get a little older they will want to get more dialogue going with their audience but I don't think the guys watching these vids want me talking to them.

      hey thanks for introducing me to some of the crew and your family Lee. You're a cool bunch - the noisy bunch with flips and turns. Ha ha! I went through all the links and no your faces and shapes now. Did you know I am an identical twin. I was but still am. My dear brother Paul died two years ago. It's been tough as you can imagine because we did all this kind of stuff with each other as we grew to. You have a very active and motivated family - you must feel proud. Good on you. With regards production I get your point although i was thinking more of clever production like a sound here or there or maybe a comment as the film rolls into jumps and flips. Any way, I love your channel and life. Good going...

      Ahh bugger. I know that feeling well, I lost my sister last year to cancer. Life's precious ain't it, and all too fleeting. I'll bear in mind what you're saying about the odd comments. You'll not see any change for a while though as we tend to release vids once a month at this time of year and they are whats left over from the summer and consequently several are already produced and pending release.

    • @WyeExplorer
      @WyeExplorer 6 лет назад

      Yes life can be that. Paul and I though never had a family or children and we lived together. Proper twins! I haven't wanted to be here in fairness. I do recognize you must have loved your sister. No doubt she was a good person. At the end of the day lee they're your films. Good to! Here's a tribute video to Paul ruclips.net/video/apaxnOMugq8/видео.html if you want to watch. Have a great day...

    Love your content. You guys should try the up/down challenge - do a fun/crazy cliff jump from as high as you can, then take an underwater selfie vid as low or long as you can. See how can do the craziest jump/get the lowest or stay under the longest.

      82ft and 40ft. Lewis at Gorge Du Verdon did 82ft superman flip and swam to bottom of the falls of Falloch which was 40ft. You'll see the Verdon clip later in the year when I get round to editing it.

      Lol.... not quite, we didn't even know it was a thing till you said, but those are the highest and deepest that Lewis has been and he seems to be able send higher and swim deeper than most people. He's not wired up properly ;-)

    This is a good video and I live in Plymouth and would love for you guys to come again and I will maybe jump higher than I usually do and George is crazy👍🏼👍🏼

    • @TheDoveys
      @TheDoveys  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks Kyle. We are coming down Plymouth again in early August, we're organising another South Coast cliff jumping tour so you'll get to meet some of the nutters in this video. I think you'll probably see George flip the wall at the side of "Runway" at Corinthian yacht club when we do, he's up to 53ft now with his back flips and Barani's. If you want to get updates on when we are coming you can stay up to date in our Facebook group "Tombstoning & Cliff jumping UK"

    • @kylecolwill9071
      @kylecolwill9071 6 лет назад

      The Doveys my highest is the cannons 41ft I think if I do that again I could do the runway and the wall side is called the Corinthian wall

    • @TheDoveys
      @TheDoveys  6 лет назад

      You could definitely do "Runway" it's only 45ft so not much higher than the cannons jumps. The wall is 47ft. You'll see Sup's backflips, gainers and a double backflip off that next time we come.

    • @kylecolwill9071
      @kylecolwill9071 6 лет назад

      The Doveys I will practice clearing stuff at west hoe pier at low tide and then move up to runway and run off as I used to run for Devon so I know I can clear it but it’s the height

    • @TheDoveys
      @TheDoveys  6 лет назад

      Oh it's good jump alright. Jumping the wall is the safer option but as you have to physically stand there and look down rather than run and jump, which is psychologically easier, it can be a bit intense. You live in a great place for jumping though Kyle so there are loads of other spots that you can use to gradually work up in height. There's a lad lives in Plymouth called Jake Short and he knows a few places. I think he's about 15 yrs old or so. Might be worth hooking up with him.

    Is it true these quarries become ridiculously cold underneath for the surface or is that not really the case lol

    • @TheDoveys
      @TheDoveys  3 года назад

      Depends on the quarry. Dorothea is 300ft deep so that gets cold, water swallows is 180ft deep so that gets cold. Mugdock is shallow so will only really chill off in winter.

      Alex, join our Facebook group UK Cliff Jumping. We're building a network of jumpers and there's now a very active community in Scotland who are out on a regular basis. One of the guys (Lee Mitchell) has regular sessions at Arbroath and Paul McGuiness and Lachlann Murphy are active all over Scotland.
