@@chrisbennett7983 Perhaps, but it does have a rain deflector for the air filter housing, which is brilliant engineering. The deflector probably needs to be removed for filter maintenance, so it likely gets tossed at the first opportunity.
Why look for a simple fault & a bit of maintenance work, when you can fabricate a bigger payday!!! i know these garages have to make a living, but this is why they have a poor reputation.. A good honest mechanic is worth his weight in gold!!! Top man jimmy
You’re not allowed to dismantle the vehicle when doing a MOT, so they wouldn’t know. Plus engine light would be an instant fail. Though no reason why they can’t investigate to allow a retest
I understand that in the context of an MOT yeah and I hope he hadn't paid for a service. I can't actually believe it went to two different garages without them checking something as simple as an air filter and it clearly pissing oil everywhere from a loose pipe.

Very good video I must admit. I got some key takeaways here on that filter and also the glow plugs don't mess with the DPF regeneration on this ford. Thank you brother, you're now in my top 3 RUclipsrs for cars in no order as some days I need DPF stuff, some days I need pico oscilloscope stuff.
I don’t get people not maintaining there vehicles it’s not hard changing a air filter if you don’t bother to maintain your vehicle that’s why jimmy has a job
Most garages are tyre kickers now looking for easy stuff to do I'm surprised at how many faults them transit's do get, but you do an excellent 👌 job if only there was more guys or girls like you do this excellent work, I'm thinking 🤔 off buy that obd eleven scan tool for my van whats your take on it, its really for me not to be at the mercy of the garage looking for a fault for me when i could do it myself as im handy enough ????
I had a similar thing happen to my old Citroen Xsara estate diesel some years back, I took it to Northants diesel electrics & they said it were the air mass sensor & changed it, you'd think they would have checked the air filter first but then I suppose they wouldn't make as much money that way.
I think a driver has taken that thing through flood water at speed. That's what broke that plastic bit off and also drenched the air filter. It's fits the bill because everything about that van shouts neglect.
This happens a lot on these transits happened to mine you have to avoid any standing water as it picks it up another thing is they use cheaper brake pipes mine had done 40 thousand miles and 5 years old they all had to be replaced
Jimmy, (service engine now) are you aware it could be the air flow temperature sensor in the turbo inter cooler? LUCAS AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR - SNB1128, thanks for all the videos.
Im only a minute into this but im guessing at this point its sucked the air filter through its more common than u relise that scuttle drain falls of n drains all over air box causing soggy filter well thats wat i come up with wen faced with that issue
You need to open a traning school to teach "mechanics" how to diagnose faults and fix things properly, saving customers money on trial and errror work by incompetent garages.
Transit water shed management is the most idiotic design ever 😂. Caught the one on my work van fallen off a couple months ago. I’m going to rig up some drain tubes with hose clamps.
They are common for that thats why ford recalled them for the drip trays to be fitted but theres a big sponge wedged in the wing right next to air filter housing that fills up and soaks the filter too !!! Rip that out on next one you see jimmy piss poor design they are
Trouble is some people just drive there car with no maintenance and then wonder why it breaks down. Great work Jimmy 👏
So without the deflector the rain gets in
Unbelievable engineering
That's been driven through flood water 😂

Euro 6 transit much worse biggest pile of shit ever 😂
Jimmy you're a friggin genius, another clueless owner saved
An owner who never gets his van serviced. Very lucky that he found O Rileys.
Jimmy to the rescue 👏

My fish tank filters are only a little wetter than that air filter!!! Well done Jimmy!!
Garage's these days are shocking. How on earth do you miss the oil everywhere, let alone it eating it's own filter!
You’re not allowed to dismantle the vehicle when doing a MOT, so they wouldn’t know. Plus engine light would be an instant fail. Though no reason why they can’t investigate to allow a retest
not just them. the owners also. bet the guy never gets it serviced

You don't have to be special or qualified to work at places like Halfords? But as soon as you work there you're an 'expert'?
As a mechanic, I find it incredible how many mechanics actually overlook or don't check the simple/obvious stuff before doing anything else.
Really love the videos , have saved a few quid already watching them and a few mates too, keep up the good work 👍 my name's Michael from Ireland
Neglected car i think. Good job btw.
Very lucky owner 👍
another excellent demonstration ,cheers
Good job Jimmy.

Always informative, Thanks Jimmy
Wow! That filter was literally swallowed by the air intake :-) Good job, Jimmy! Seems that van has been a little neglected.
Thanks again mate great video👌

Reckon he’s driven through some of the deep water we’ve had recently
200%. Not just the missing deflector.
Keep your vehicle serviced kids 😂

Can you help me with this error code Intake air system / P00BD62 Charge air system - There is
a signal above
permissible limit. What can I check?😢
You must have a hart of gold to be working on such a neglected vehicle the other garage probably chased them

Knew straight away this would be a disintegrated air filter.
Spoiler alert
jesus that air filter!!! and just because that deflector wasnt fitted back

Has the owner ever lifted the bonnet?
My sons wants to be a mechanic he knows more than some bloody mechanics and he’s only 15
Hopefully good on tablets as well
Nice job Jimmy , that’s a real shit filter design having to have a gutter above it to stop water getting in....
👍
Where are you based? I have a mk 8 with the abs and air bag light on
What about low air flow in the roof vents.
I thought the glow plugs did affect the regeneration of the dpf. As you've said in previous videos?
Depends on the vehicle
Thought you've said Transits specifically. Or is it just a different model.
Cheers
LOL 😀
@@danielbuchanan9651Peugeot and Citroen require working glow plugs, transits don't.
what does he expect with no fuel in it and clearly not been maintained the man deserves to have a massive bill

This solely down to lack of maintenance.

This is what happens if services are neglected or not done competently.
What a silly design to have the air filter housing mounted under a stream of rain water.
Ah, that airfilter will fine for another few years. 😂😂😂😂
Eh? I thought the vaporiser should hold no pressure... Not max out the gauge!
Reverse gauge with 0 on the right. :)
@@stephandolby ohhhh, I forgot he broke his gauge. I was used to seeing the midpoint as 0 PSI 😂
