You can see how traumatized these little ones are. They have been scratching their legs until the hair was pulled off. That is a very serious sign of psychological trauma. It's quite disturbing that these infant macaques can be that psychologically injured in such a short time. If they are rehabilitated, they can get a surrogate macaque that will raise her as one of her own. Sadly, some are so traumatized they never recover and cannot return to the wild or die. I certainly hope jail is in the future of these horrible people.

Part of my job is to see no animals are subject to abuse, intentional injuries, neglect and animal welfare. Also a number other treatments you would not know or understand. I mostly work with orangutans and macaques and a few other breeds. Until you walk a mile in my shoes dealing with horribly abused, disfigured, and traumatized primates you don't have the right to call me a "karen" People like you are a dime a dozen. Coming down on those who want or are making a change for the welfare of monkeys and other primates. More than likely you have never seen a macaque in the wild or maybe even a zoo. You need to grow up a lot and maybe you could educate yourself instead of showing everyone how ignorant you are.

The mothers of these babies were murdered or drugged and the baby kidnapped, not 'abandoned' and needing 'rescuing'. Cruel and abusive!
2. People in South East Asia despise monkeys. They consider them vermin, like people in the west revile rats and mice, disease ridden destructive pests. Why, then would they have them in their homes?
3. Have you never even considered why, in Cambodia in particular, is there an epidemic of mother monkeys 'abandoning' their babies and those babies needing to be 'rescued'? There are literally thousands of baby monkey channels on RUclips and Facebook. I'll answer this for you....because in South East Asia most people survive of ten dollars a day or less. RUclips videos featuring baby monkeys are making the channel owner ten times that amount of money. It's easy money.
4. Monkeys kept in isolation eventually end up depressed with many behaviour problems. Make no mistake, when not being filmed, these babies are kept locked up in cages. Cruel and abusive! 5. These people make their monkeys wear diapers and clothes because, yes, it is cute, but more importantly, monkeys cannot be domesticated, therefore they can't be house trained. They shit and piss everywhere, so they have to wear diapers. Because the monkeys rip their diapers off, they put clothes over the top of them. The diaper makes the monkeys shit stick to their fur so it is then necessary to shave their butts. Cruel and abusive!
6. Grooming is a very important and necessary part of monkey life, because they are forced to wear clothes and kept isolated, grooming is all but impossible. Cruel and abusive!
7. Monkeys stink, I mean they reek and the stench gets into everything. This is why they are constantly being bathed and of course so many people think it's cute. Cruel and abusive!
8. These monkeys do not have any love or admiration for their keepers. It's called conditioning. Do as you are expected to do or you will be punished. These babies are on constant alert, particularly when in close proximity to the camera operator, look at the fear in their eyes, watch they're constantly surveying their surroundings. Cruel and abusive!
9. The only source of food or comfort these babies receive is when they are forced to star in these perverse videos. These babies are deliberately kept hungry because a hungry animal is a compliant animal. In the wild a baby monkey spends the majority of its first year or so hanging onto its mother. There it gets the comfort and protection it needs; it also has food on tap whenever it wants it. Cruel and abusive!
10. Eventually these babies will outgrow their cuteness, they will all start becoming adolescents and will then become unmanageable, unpredictable, aggressive and dangerous. Cruel and abusive!
11. They will then be disposed of. They will either meet with a tragic accident, be dumped near an existing troop at a temple or in the forest or they will simply disappear. Cruel and abusive!
12. When the one of the above scenarios occurs, these monkeys are doomed. Because their natural lives as monkey was stolen from them, and all they know is the abuse and exploitation of humans, they have no idea how to be monkeys. They don't know how to forage but even more tragically they don't know troop etiquette and will eventually break troop rules. Most monkeys don't survive the beating they receive because of this.
13. Have no doubt, before the monkey they abandoned back to the wild is killed, they will have found a replacement baby, killed its mother and taken it home. Cruel and abusive!
14. Generally, monkey mothers will not give up their babies without a fight. Yes. As in humans, there are neglectful and abusive mother monkeys but these are the exception not the norm. The everyday life of monkeys in the wild is pretty boring and mundane. To make things more interesting Video Operators in these countries create drama and discontent amongst the troops. The most dramatic, of course, is when the babies are being abused, this is what they post online. On most occasions it is not the mother abusing the baby. Again, the exception not the norm.
Finally. While ever people continue to watch these videos, feign over these poor defenceless babies and encourage these heinous people to abuse and exploit these animals this will never stop. Many species of endangered and this barbaric practice will drive many to extinction. The harvesting of baby monley is cruel and exploitive and needs to be stopped. Stealing monkeys and forcing them to perform in RUclips/Facebook videos is not cute or funny, it abusive, cruel and exploitive
