We had a Euclid/ Terex dealer where I lived, and when I was younger, I remember seeing all these green beauties by the Highway on display. When they closed the dealership, most of those gents came to work with us at Cat. Still love seeing these ole machines! Thanks for the flashback and keep those awesome videos coming!
That's awesome. When I grew up all the green iron manufacturers were long gone. It had to be cool to see this equipment all new and shiny on the dealer lot. Thanks for sharing that! The green iron is one of my personal favorites when it comes to haul trucks
another excellent documentary video. i would love to see a documentary on any brand electric powered dump trucks , models from year 2010 or later. Can we expect to see anything like this? great videos regardless. love your channel
I can’t imagine trying to run that old truck today with the fuel prices the way they are…that old Detroit was a tough old engine but they were wicked pigs on fuel…in some mines that ran electric drive trucks, they had the electric assist system for climbing hills to save on fuel…I believe some mines still run this system…great video!!
Diesel electric drive is standard on just about every ultra class haul truck now. I think Cat still offers their 797 in a full mechanical drivetrain, but they have a diesel electric drive 794, 796, and 798. I'm pretty sure that Komatsu, Terex, and Liebherr all make their ultra class trucks only in diesel electric drive. I know that Liebherrs 100 ton trucks are diesel electric drive, don't know about the others.
@@PAmining wow that’s bad at all!!..I ran an old John Deere 450lc that would blow through that or more in a shift!..I worked for a large earth moving company 25 years ago and they had a fleet of Cat 769’s and they were amazing on fuel!…they had a few Volvo A40 6wd’s and they were harder on fuel than the Cat trucks!..🤷🏻♂️
Gorgeous Green Giant! Thank you for bringing this awesome machine to view for us to enjoy! ❤ I really love your documentaries and the effort you put into them. 👍
Love your content PA mining, but do you think you could put one of your grubby mitts in the frame and tell us your height so we can work out approximately the size of the subject matter lol
They use a lots in coal mines in england.fort mcmurray was testing ground for off road trucks brand include terex.i work coal mines se bc canada we have loram construction expand mines some was brand new yup.they use lots them on bc hydro dams mica job.they some with belly dump in coal mines for power plant western canada.thanks video😊
I can tell ya from experience driving one of these when I was a teenager, you would want to wear ear plugs lol. The cabs were VERY comfortable and much nicer than a Cat in their day. Thanks!
In an 8hr shift the truck will consume around 130-150 gallons. As an fyi, fuel consumption on an off road truck can vary greatly depending on the road grade too. Thanks!
The retarder prevents the engine from overspeeding on downhill grades, the trolly brake is the same as the foot brake on the floor - it's used to hold the truck in position while it's being loaded, and the dump box is controlled by a hand level to the left of the operators seat
I may be wrong but I think trolley brake less braking applied to the front and more to the rear, so safer braking at higher speeds. Where as service brake would probably be 100% same amount applied to front and back, and service brake for use at low speeds
The trolley brake is the same as the foot controlled service brakes. The purpose of it is to hold the truck in position while it's being loaded so the operator doesn't have to hold his foot on the brake pedal. Thanks!
Your videos remind me of when i first started using youtube and watched documentaries like this all day. 🇯🇲 keep up the good work. Bless up.
Hahaha, I appreciate that friend! Glad you still enjoy the videos! Thanks and same to you 😁
I wanted to let you know that you provide a wonderful educational service to the construction community
Thank you, that means a lot :)

Excellent video. Thank you for keeping history alive for future generations.
You're welcome :)
Boy, that thing is a monster, and with that Detroit engine. I’d love to hear it run.
Neat to see that some of these machines being over 4 decades old still in operation
Thanks PA Mining! Always great history and equipment.
😃😎 Glad you enjoyed it friend!
Excellent video once again PA 👍👍👍 the 33-11 was another common dumper in the UK opencast mines...
Thanks! Ive seen many pictures showing it was a favorite in UK coal!
Nice to see some old Green Iron, looks like she's still hauling for a living too.. and that floor is not a trash can sign...LOL
Haha, how about it! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for all the videos you do number1 in the game!💯🏴💪
😃😎 thanks man! I appreciate that and I'm glad you enjoy them!

Absolutely you can! I don't know if I have any electric drives filmed that are over 2010, but I do have a few big ones coming up. Thanks!

Thanks Justin another great video great history on mining equipment.Great Job.Keep the up the great work. Thanks
Thanks, will do!
Gorgeous Green Giant!
Thank you for bringing this awesome machine to view for us to enjoy! ❤
I really love your documentaries and the effort you put into them. 👍
I love these docu's. Very interesting info always. What was the L shaped lever between the driver's seat and door? Was that the dump control lever?
Thank you! 😁 that's my goal! And yes, that level controls the dump box. Pull up to raise the box and push down to lower.
I love that colour! Good video, as usual.
Me too man, I miss the green iron! Thanks!
Dang, a Detroit 16 V! That thing must have been a screamer! Hope the cab was well insulated acoustically!
For being the 70s/80s, these trucks actually had very nice insulated cabs. Still didn't completely drown out the Detroit lol
This would make a great pickip truck
Awesome love the color !
It's badass isn't it 😎
@@PAmining I want to transform it !
Would love to hear this thing running .
If you search, there are a couple Terex trucks operating on my channel :)
what is the small unit atop the air cleaners that says "red dot" on it ?
That is the air conditioner unit
Cool job colleagues
Worked on these here in the UK on the coal sites, we used to call them the green goddess
Love your content PA mining, but do you think you could put one of your grubby mitts in the frame and tell us your height so we can work out approximately the size of the subject matter lol
Haha! Well I'm 6'3" so that should give you an idea of my film level lol. Thanks!
82 graduted high school
I need this to get my frapachino
Good job.
Thanks!
Very cool
What is the largest drag line you have been in? Or have you got a video of Big Muskie before it was scrapped?
No big muskie was way before my time lol. The largest I've been around was 100 yd3 machines

That's cool thanks for sharing!
Kinda looks like a Euclid/WABCO hybrid old workhorse! 👍👍🇺🇸
Except with the engine out in front, giving it a very distinctive look, and my personal favorite feature on the truck! Thanks!
@@PAmining Yep, distinctably cool! 👍👍🇺🇸

😎🇺🇲
Lov it
Big green dump truck
Can you imagine sitting in that operators cab on top of that screaming jimmy, must have been deafening.
I can tell ya from experience driving one of these when I was a teenager, you would want to wear ear plugs lol. The cabs were VERY comfortable and much nicer than a Cat in their day. Thanks!
Jez what doesn’t tilcon own! There everywhere
Good atuff
The styling and color looks like Euclid. Did Terex buy Euclid?
No. Euclid and Terex were two separate companies but both formed under General Motors
Great video! How much fuel would that truck go through in a day?
at a guess, if it were operating day and night shifts it would be refueled once a day
In an 8hr shift the truck will consume around 130-150 gallons. As an fyi, fuel consumption on an off road truck can vary greatly depending on the road grade too. Thanks!
❤❤❤❤
Is this the same truck you drove about 10 years ago?
No that was a different one but part of the same fleet
@PAmining after re watching the other video I noticed the sticker by the shifter. Thanks for the quick reply!
Since I don't know what is Retarder, Trolley Brake, And how do you dump the bed.?.
The retarder prevents the engine from overspeeding on downhill grades, the trolly brake is the same as the foot brake on the floor - it's used to hold the truck in position while it's being loaded, and the dump box is controlled by a hand level to the left of the operators seat
So was the 80mph speedometer wishful thinking or get ready St. Peter because here we come?
Hahaha!! That's a very good point! 😂
When he said "big green hornet " I knew right then it was a Detroit 👍
Blahaha!! Yep!
😍👍
Is this the same one that you drove 10 years ago?
Hahaha, you remember! No actually the was a different one, I don't think the one I drove had the side boards.
Never ran 3311 have the 3307 terex
Sooo, we are nit gonna see it operate?
On a rig like this, what does a trolley brake do differently than the service brake?
I may be wrong but I think trolley brake less braking applied to the front and more to the rear, so safer braking at higher speeds. Where as service brake would probably be 100% same amount applied to front and back, and service brake for use at low speeds
The trolley brake is the same as the foot controlled service brakes. The purpose of it is to hold the truck in position while it's being loaded so the operator doesn't have to hold his foot on the brake pedal. Thanks!
80MPH on the speedometer? That's a reach. LOL
