This was one of the best reviews I have seen. Done with respect to the artist and also filled with solid information behind it.

Would love to see you do a reaction to Voctave great movie medley
I'm a horn player at heart and this is mind blowing. I've never seen vocal music picked apart like this. Its brilliant.
Josh Biddinger thank u so much!
I agree with this. I’m a violinist and a flautist.
It was super interesting for me to see vocal work being picked apart, whether for improvement or to show what a good job they did.
I really wish I was more trained vocally. I don’t think there’s ANYTHING that beats voice.
Finally a "vocal coach" who is actually a vocal coach. I can't stand all these people posting videos who think just because you can match pitch and happen to have people who pay you money to try and teach them how to do the same you're entitled to call yourself a coach. Thank you for sharing your training with us :)
Whatsmynameagain03 wow. Such a high compliment..I’m humbled. Thank you so much!
voctave is absolutely one of the best vocal groups out there. absolutely love them..so professional.
Recognized you instantly! Enjoyed your first audition...listened to it dozens of times. What I most enjoy about Voctave and PTX videos, is how we're showcasing competence. Genuine talent even if they are not the most famous.
jmpmusva you’re the sweetest, thank you for the awesome comment!
At 9:44, you commented on the "es" of "voices" but you said nothing of the turn on that same note, which was absolutely stunning.
I really like to hear your reviews after there so many things I haven't noticed before. I think you should listen or review voiceplay. I really think they're amazing and it would be amazing to hear what you think about their technique and everything! I love voctave and I always get goosebumps while listening them.
You might like the Bonnie Milligan and Laura Osnes Disney Medley. It's so funny but both women are extraordinarily talented even when they're working the crowd.
I love this video can you react to the little mermaid live thanks
Stopping by to show love to you. Love Voctave.
OMG! Thank you so much!!
Voctave is too perfect to keep bad comment XDD
The woman doing the Mulan part is the best I think but I do like them all.
React to Scott Hoying’s riffs and runs!!! Please!!!
How is possible to pitch the vibrato with so many singers? How to coordinate this?
Please react to 7 Times Kelly Clarkson Was EXTRA LIVE! (AMAZING VOCALS!)
Great reaction! I really
appreciate your analysis. Please listen to 'The Great Movie Medley'? 😀
nicely done
Wow, love Voctave but really interested in your comments. Very instructional! Love all your reactions to Voctave videos. Have you done any reactions to Sam Smith? His live performances of Writing’s on the wall, Leave your lover and Lay me down are just beautiful. Would love to hear your thoughts on him 😊
main street pop medley. please review
What beats me is, how accurate are the sound reproduction through a laptop's speakers? Wouldn't it be more accurate if she was reviewing it with a good set of headphones?
That's not the funniest part, the funniest part is she is making vocal production critique directly based on watching body movements of people who are lip-synching to a pre-recorded track
You might react to their collab with Kirstin Maldonado of Pentatonix, It's on the Voctave channel as "Disney Love Medley" and it's epic.
Joe Barnhart thanks Joe! I’ll definitely have to look into that.
Arrgh! Yes, you're right of course. Getting my "love" mixed up with all these "princesses". Wait. That didn't come out right.
Yep! Love that one too - Kirstin and Jeremy have very pop voices so I'd be interested to see a similar sort of critique. The star of that video is the work by Voctave though, especially Kate Lott.
Des Lee agreed. Even Kirstin and Jeremy were glancing over at Kate Lott with amazement throughout the piece. The pure high notes she has are supernatural.
seconded. it is the best performance they have online.
If you didn't know Voctave is comprised of singers from Voices of Liberty, the vocal group that sings daily at The American Adventure in EPCOT at Walt Disney World.
muppetsstoogesfan1 interesting! I didn’t know that. Thank you for sharing.
Actually not all of them. Tony the tenor 2 with spiky hair is not in voices of liberty but is instead a 4x barbershop international winner on baritone, tenor, and lead. He is the most decorated member ever in the Barbershop Harmony Society and is a friend of the founder since they both worth at Rawlins University in Orlando Florida.
Rollins College**
Hayden Stone Tony actually is the Musical Director for Voices of Liberty at Epcot as well as the Dapper Dans in the Magic Kingdom and Vocal Director for Finding Nemo there as well. I also believe Tony has only won on Bari and Lead, not Tenor.
muppetsstoogesfan1 I didn’t know that. I love Voctave.
The first soprano, Kate Lott, had vocal training for 17 years! And I just wanted to say- your head voice is GORGEOUS
memoirs of an imperfect baritone awe thank you!!! LOVE her voice too, so ah-mazing
@memoirs of an imperfect baritone, as a baritone myself, I just loved your account name!!!
using the word "crunchy" to describe dissonance means we would be friends XD
Wes Arnold Hahahaa!!!
I'm not a singer (orchestral conductor) and I have no idea how I ended up on this video, but I just wanted to say that I really love your attitude. Very healthy and admirable of you. ^_^
Zachary McCoy awe thank you!
This reaction isn't only about how good voctave is, but also where else voctave can improve. There's always space for improvements, right? Thank you for making this. This is priceless! I'm interested to watch yout review on "Great Movie Medley" and "Mary, Did You Know?". Can you please make them rightaway? It's my pleasure to know more
It's super interesting to hear some of the technical stuff behind the music, it definitely helps to appreciate the hard work and training that goes into the music :) Keen to see more of your reaction videos if you do more, Tara!
I have such a THING for incredibly technically accurate singers- like, total shivers. That first woman did it for me, man.
the 2nd soprano(Tiffany) she sang Cinderall "once upon a dream" shes a member of the voices of liberty and shes just super into pushing that disney magic and happiness, which is why shes so expressive when she sings. i really enjoyed watching your review however so you've gained a sub!
xagcax love it!!
Actually the song is from Sleeping Beauty 😊
Alex Hendry truuueeee one of my fav movies and once Upon a Time is in my top 3 of Disney songs
"once upon a dream" is from Sleeping Beauty not Cinderella, just a quick correction. "So This Is Love" is from Cinderella, also "A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes".
You can tell she knows what shes talking about. Love how she critics, and love her voice! And i love voctave too
David Fuentes yay!!!
This was a great instructional video. I never realized if you mispronounce or leave off certain syllables it actually sounds more like the word. Also hitting the front syllable with an almost staccato glottal hit vs. leaving it open really makes for a big difference in the impact of a word. Neat stuff.
LawLibertyCompassion Justice isn’t it neat? Thanks for commenting!
Thanks for the response! I actually find myself singing a lot more just to figure out what sounds better. I wish I'd had a singing coach in junior high. I really love it but instead ended up playing a few instruments. Your hints are like voodoo. Changing how you sing words to make them better than when spoken is just magical. It definitely opened my eyes to something I'd been missing. I was like, "How are some people so much better at singing?" While some do have crazy natural talent like perfect pitch and 5 octave ranges (Mitch Grassi fkn amazing), I see a lot of it is due to proper technique. Thanks!
I love how she actually know what she’s talking about unlike most RUclips vocal coaches
I'm convinced this group is from another universe. 😮
Disney love Medley by Voctave 😁😁
where are you located and can I study with you???! I LOVED what I heard! Just in this video alone I heard you mention everything that I personally do well and the things I struggle with as a singer. I've had a hard time finding a vocal coach who is able to pull sound out of me the way you just did in a video! I studied viocal performance in college and have yet to do anything significant with it. This actually gave me some inspiration. Thank you
Sara Morales the bed comment I’ve read all day!! I coach worldwide and I have a brick and mortar location in Atlanta GA. Would love to help you and so glad this inspired you! Check out my site Tarasimonstudios.com and email us there and we will reply!
You were robbed on the X Factor. They made you out to be such a diva and then LA cut you at his house after you CLEARLY blew the roof off the place.
I would love to have a voice lesson with you. More than one actually. Classical lessons and belt coaching, cause you also have an astounding belt.
Thank u! Check out my site and send me an email. Happy to help you!
Fascinating breakdown of some wonderful vocals but really isn't it obvious that there are all miming for this promo video - these are not their original studio vocals were seeing (hearing yes - I hope!) - it's a video meant to be watched! Surely mimed video performances can't be properly reviewed in the same way as a truly 'live' studio performance. They are bloody great though xx
That is what I found funny the fact that she was critiquing based on their body movements but in reality, they are not singing live, she didn't realize that and she put so much emphasis on meaningless movements
@@okebaram But with whatever I've heard from them, they say they'd play the original audio in the background and sing along with it for videoing. So technically, they do sing here, and I've gone through a lot of performances of Tiffany and she just really tends to be animated (not complaining, although being a big fan of her). Moreover, I guess they don't even know how to lipsync, I guess as they've only been singing live all the days of their lives...
Just my opinion tho
@@neerajemanuel7771 No that is not correct. I once thought some of their official videos were live singing too, because I did not understand like I do now. They always sing live when they perform at events, but their official videos of their songs are produced as music videos. I know Tiffany is animated live or not, she is still being herself whether or not she is singing or lip-syncing, Lip-syncing won't make them animate or emote differently. But for their official videos, as is very common and reasonable with music videos, the only audio you hear is the pre-recorded "studio" vocals, not any sound from them singing along during the video, even if they made any sounds while they were lip-syncing during the video shoot. The video is also done multiple times and pieces are merged together in editing to show chosen angles and best footage. Not only is this a fact that anyone with sufficient understanding or experience of music production at a sufficient level will undoubtedly see from their videos, but they have literally said this themselves in a response to me. There is no need to state this for everyone to know, however. Most people do not have enough understanding of this stuff and would think they are singing live. And it should be that way, as long as there was no claim by the musicians that was false.
If you liked this you should react to their "Disney Showstoppers" (you get to hear some of the guys sing) and their "Great movie medley" :)
Johanna Gustavsson I just might have to do that!
great movie medley
@@Tarasimonstudios She read my mind. Was just about to request "Disney Showstoppers". You will love it!
Yes! I'd love to see her review the Movie Medley since you can really hear the guys.
Ay congrats she fulfilled your request!!!
6:00 Welp, you can't please everybody. I've watched probably 8 to 10 different reactions to this video from vocal coaches. Every coach is mesmerized by that soprano at this point in the song. This is the only vocal coach who didn't like it.
I love all the women that was singing, but the women that were singing "Part of Your World" and " Colors of the Wind", their voices were really unique to me. I loved it.
It's a beautiful thing to watch a person at the top of their game exercise their craft.
xFrShizzLEx making me blush. Thank you!
Voctave is so good...funny i liked the timbre of the second Sop better. Weird because it kind of balanced out the wonderful Kate. Putting a group of singers that sound this good together, has to be an artform.
I think part of the beauty of Voctave is their unity and diversity...so many different types of voices and training, ranges, styles. It keeps it from being bland or purely technical or mechanical. Also, Sarah (red hair) is an alto and Ashley sings soprano/alto. They are wonderful musicians, though, and have adjusted and trained their voices to fit in where needed according to Jamey's arrangement and their vision for the finished piece. Thanks for the reaction to teach us what is going on and give us alternative ideas on how some other trained singers may choose to interpret and present songs.
OMG that alto...that alto!!! I am truly in love...
Here's my challenge, try not to cry while watching them sing "Baby mine" from Dumbo. Good luck.
Finally, a good and unbiased, truly technical voctave review. I feel i learnt a lot from your video.
React to Jeremy Jordan "it's all coming back to me now" 😂
It’s important to state that these critiques are subjective which is something that gets lost. I notice to who most of her criticism went which is unfortunately far too common.
Tara, I know this isn't in the normal wheelhouse of what you listen and react to but I also know you've met Tony and gang and have probably learned of his barbershop pedigree. I'd love for you to listen to the 2012 International Champion Quartet doing their own take on a Disney story. Even if you don't do a reaction video, do yourself a favor and listen (with headphones) to Ringmasters' Notre Dame Medley: ruclips.net/video/Qo_N9_ZFBhs/видео.html - I guarantee it'll make you tingle with joy.
Ditto
That soprano (first singer).... gives me CHILLS! Absolutely gorgeous voice. Could listen to her for-ev-er.
First person that’s done reactions that’s a vocal coach that ACTUALLY can sing! I absolutely loved this reaction. Learned a lot not gonna lie. But I’ve been obsessed with this medley forever!
TF? 😅😅😅
I've watched several vocal coach reactions to this song, and they ALL can sing! 😂😂😂
nice reaction..... kindly react to the TNT boys singing "Flashlight" at TNTV.... i want to hear your thoughts about their performance.....BTW, new subscriber here.....thanks and more power to your channel....
It would be fun to hear your review of Nick Pitera who has an insane falsetto.. I would suggest his one man Phantom of the Opera or one man Les Miserable.. His one man Disney Show is interesting too. Take your pick. He has a crazy false..
Great video. If you read this, I'd love to know why you feel that unstressed consanants "Voic-Es" need those open E sounds etc? If it's just giving it space I think it needs to be stressed that over cooking a weak syllable can be seen as poor diction as well. It was certainly the fashion for a long time to keep those final syllables open when singing in English but it's slightly frowned upon now if it's too over done. Anyways, interesting videos. Thanks for putting your thoughts online.
Corinne Spencer for sure! But that’s just it. I don’t want my singers to “over cook” the vowel. But if you don’t sing a true “e” you’re actually singing the word wrong and making it sound like “voiciz” which is farther from the original intention of the pronunciation of the word even when spoken. Hope that makes sense and helps!
Please react to Lea Salonga's performance of On My Own
I have learned more in these 12 minutes than in my whole year of being in acapella choir....SUBSCRIBED!!!
Great job! Voctave’s “Mary Did You Know” would be a great one to review as well.
I'd love to see your reaction to anything by Home Free. Their "Ring Of Fire" cover is as good a place to start as any.
People who are putting in more effort to get more power instead of using other techniques to hit the notes easier are VALUED IN A CHOIR. Not that Tara was saying they weren't valued, but a lot of people don't realize that just because you don't use all of the classical or operatic techniques to get volume and purity with less effort DOES NOT MEAN YOU AREN'T A GOOD SINGER OR THAT YOU'RE NOT VALUED!
Sometimes a choir needs that. A lot of singers who've studied techniques long enough can hit the high notes easier without straining too much or moving their body, but some songs and some performances are far better off having someone on the solo who is giving it everything they have physically and vocally.
I've seen Baritones audition for solos who are great at belting in the Tenor Register with power and emotion and REAL EFFORT behind it, get shunted to the sidelines and discouraged because a Tenor can hit the same note with less effort, and that can make for an emotionless and frankly boring performance to watch.
I would greatly prefer to watch a performance where the soloist is very visibly giving it his all and putting emotion into the song over a soloist who has done this a dozen times already and is purely focusing on posture and vocal health, 8 times out of 10.
And I'm not saying that singers shouldn't take care of their voice, God knows Adele gives her performances everything she has and her voice is suffering because of it, I'm just saying a performance can greatly benefit from a little intentional strain and vocal effort in the proper places.
You probably already realize this, but they ARE ALL or have been previously (pretty sure) members of the Voices Of Liberty in the American Pavilion Rotunda at EPCOT at World Showcase. My wife and I used to love to go hear them there, and one of their very active Bases used to sing in our church choir at 1st Pres., Orlando. Great review and comments.

You should react to "A million dreams" by Voctave and Vocal Majority. By the way all the arrangement are by Jamey Ray, a tenor member of Voctave.
Tara, You seem to really know your stuff. I mean that with the utmost respect. I personally can't sing anymore. When I was younger, I had a voice worth hearing, a long time ago. Several items you may or may not respond to. I really like the fact that you don't feel the need to listen to 6 or 8 words, then go into a 5 minute soliloquy and you forget what the number was. Thanks for not ruining this review. I love Voctave. They have to be the best accepella group going today.
Do you or can you just listen to a song and simply enjoy the artist(s) and their music for what it's for without feeling the need to disect it?? I think you have reviewed David Phelps before, but have you ever heard of a beautifully talented young lady (17?) named Lucy Thomas?? She is from England and has a wonderful voice. Sometimes her younger sister, Martha will join her for a duet. Perhaps you might look her up. I believe she just released her 4th CD. Thank you for allowing us less knowledgeable folks a chance to learn a little. Ron
Please REACT to Disney Love Medley with Kirstin Maldonado. I am really waiting to watch you dissecting that performance
Great movie medley from voctave next. They really showcase the soprano who sang first.
So many harmonies... Melodies... I’m gonna cry!!!
I am a great fan of Voctave. I haven’t studied voice since many years ago in college, but I have sung in Choruses performing classical vocal works, as well as ‘pop’ on stage at the Broward Center For The Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Her comments were right on point.
Can you do some Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson reactions??
Could you please do a video about Helene Fischer: "Wenn du lachst"?? I know she's german but she has got a flawless voice.
Finally a vocal coach that call the Altos for Altos and not stubburnly want to name them Mezzos... :) ... And I stubbornly say as I allways do... "If I want to be inpressed, Im often that by Sopranos..But If I want to feel some great emotion. Its by Altos..." :)
In my Case theres only one exeption to that rule (Alive).. And its the Lyric Soprano SoHyang...
And you Tara are as allways great ! / Love from Stockholm, Sweden / J
Of course, these vocal harmonizations are "perfect". Great vocal level (Kate Lott (soprano) blow my mind, just like that...).
But let me point out one thing, an important thing. I've seen this performance many times, but only recently one of the noticed it and admits that she's absolutely right - the further in the chronology we move (I'm talking about the years when these films and their music were made), the less our requirements are and the vocals are getting worse.
Because let's not compare "Snow White" from 1937 and this beautiful performance to the current Disney princesses. The voice was perfect, crystal clear. Currently, it's just a pop version of these achievements.
I love your review videos! Can you please review Christina Aguilera’s performance of ‘A Million Dreams’?? ❤️❤️ I think it’s her best live performance ever! I want to hear your takes on it :))
I totally disagree with your point about singing "conversational". Disney songs often *dont* have the singers end their notes or words with open vowels. Plus, its evident that when the singer does finish a word with a closed consonant that they are choosing to do it that way. Usually to mimic the original recording where that was very common. Open vowels are harder to understand meaning and hear the words, because we dont speak it that way. Thats why Disney chooses to end most words in the way we speak them; the song's purpose is to tell a story, not to be a great song (it just happens that Disney music is great music!)
I had to stop at 6:44 because I was taken with you. If you're not married by now or in a serious relationship, I am going to make a fool out of myself right now and ask for your number. My brothers and I have been singing for decades and they would kick me if I didn't message you right now. My dad died almost 2 years ago and we played, "All Is Well" by Voctave...and amazing arrangement. You are a gem and tell it like it is, Tara. Keep it up. You will make better singers out of us yet! :)
Here's another David Phelps song, a duet with Lana Ranahan, two powerful voices. there are probably some things you might want to say about strong voices singing together. Just a thought. ruclips.net/video/ESBrl57xlWg/видео.html
would love to see you review Disney Showstoppers (the men of Voctave) :)
Here’s Voctave’s newest release, along with their friend’s, The Vocal Majority.
Would love to hear a review.
ruclips.net/video/jB_Z2OfyKyg/видео.html
PLEASE react to Voctave's Disney Love Medley! Kate Lott (soprano) is AMAZING!
Please watch Voctave’s “The Great Movie Medley” if you want to hear voices sound like instruments!
Thank Goodness I listen to their music with my ears and not my brain.
I love listening to Voctave but have more than once encountered a distracting angel-on-high above the rest of the chorus.
I thoroughly enjoyed the reaction and critique. Even though I can't sing for crap, I still learned a lot. Thank you!!!
Since you liked this Voctave sing, I know you'll love their new release...
ruclips.net/video/jB_Z2OfyKyg/видео.html
You missed the whole point. Their was no shoulder tension. And the f6 From Kate .I’m a fan but get over yourself.. I like it when my students do….give me a break. The 11 singers are better than her
Can you review Voctave “fly medley” please x
New fan of yours! You should check out all of voctave Disney songs. Before Kate Lott ( the 1st soprano) joined, there was another lady, she also is amazing. And of course Disney love medley with Kristin Maldonado and Jeremy Michael Lewis, Kate hits a note that will blow you away. Rachel Potter sings with them on a medley but it was E.J Cardona on Out There from the Hunchback of Norte Dame that blew it away. It is actually called Disney trio Animazement instead of voctave but it's still Jamey Ray's voctave. The voctave fly medley is the one with a lady in a green and black striped dress that can hit some notes.
Joann Harrington Jackie Stressman
@@josephkocevar1089 Love her!!
I have to disagree with you on the singer for Colors of the Wind. The song itself is sang as a conversation with John Smith, so it would make sense to sing it more conversationally with the "r"s.
This was soooo interesting! I can't sing but love to act. This reminds me that quality doesn't just happen.
Can you please react to voctave impossible dream, it is so beautiful !!!
can you react Dimash Kudaibergen he has 6 octaves and was on china song contest on 2016/2017. please react S.O.S from Dimash.
Are we going to talk about the fact that you have the most infectious, natural, and genuine smile, Miss Tara? I was literally smiling the whole time as I watched this. As for your spot-on remarks and feedback that reflect years (if not decades) of experience, knowledge, classical training, and profound gift (you have a Divine voice, yourself), I believe it speaks mighty volumes of who you are as an artist, but most importantly, as a person.
From an internet stranger, thank you for being who you are, Miss Tara. Such a treasure, indeed. : )
OMG you have a fabulous, lovely personality and figure. Love it.
I disagree with almost everything you said lol. very interesting to hear a different perspective at least!
if you rehear how the singer sings 'strnagerrrr', she did open her mouth with full sound, not constricted .
I am loving these reviews! I know next to nothing about singing and music, but I find the complexities absolutely fascinating! I hope one day I could get to be half as good as these vocalists. I would love to see you do a review of another Voctave video, Someone Like You (feat. Jody McBrayer)! I am entranced by Jody's voice, and I would love to see an expert's opinion!
Honest question, what is wrong with moving shoulders while singing?
OH.
MY.
GOD.
You'de such an amazing coach, congrats. Would it be my dream having lessons wu?
You should definitely reacts to Pentatonix :) They are amazing acapella group :)
Filip Rožnovský I love Pentatonix also!
especially the early stuff with Avi
Ariel singer was freaking amazing! You got it right, she's perfect for it! (All of the singers were wonderful, this one just stood out to me.)
