Local’s tip from a guy who can see Shenandoah Nat. Park from his porch… some of the video footage he showed of the park is not the park. SMH.
And beyond that, it’s only about 1:15 minutes from DC to the entrance of the park in Front Royal, not 2 hours. And he didn’t mention Skyline Drive, which is a huge attraction. Also, June-September are the hottest months, not sure why he’d single out that period as being the best weather. If I’m going on a long hike, I’d prefer the cooler weather of the spring or fall.
Letchworth State Park is beautiful. I am planning on a trip up there this fall. I went there on field trip when I lived in PA, almost 40yrs ago. It holds a special place in my memories.

Big Island in Hawaii is definitely a solid option, though. As are Acadia National Park, Black Hills National Forest (ignoring Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse), Branson, MO, and White Mountain National Forest are solid options, too.

Tybee just isn’t anything special. There is nothing to do on the island. There are tons of beaches on the east coast that are better. The city of Savannah is the real destination. Tybee is just ok.

Not everyone pronounces words the same, but it doesn't mean one is right and the other wrong; they're just different. It grates my ears to hear how locals pronounce Buena Vista, and I will always pronounce it the Spanish way, but that doesn't make one right and the other not. Ask the announcer to pronounce "aluminum" 😊
