Excellent review! I think you are absolutely correct as I have both. I don’t think, with either of these, that they are universal. Re:Fair vs. Dark question... I am fair/v.light and the Sisley is too dark for me. I can get away with it as a primer as long as I use it sparingly. (Yep, before my foundation) The Chantecaille is perfect for my skin tone so I don’t see how it can be universal if it is perfect for me. In my use of the Sisley, it definitely adds color. I did not get that with the Chantecaille. I have had both since they launched and find of the two, I reach for the Chantecaille more. If the Sisley were lighter, it might be a different story because I do think it is lovely. Lastly, and most importantly, thank you for addressing the universal shade question because medium skinned people get the true benefit whilst those of us on either end of the spectrum get left out of almost every brand on the market and no one wants to feel left out. I know the business of it and there is only so much room for so many “skews” and the “skews” that sell the most is where the line makes its money. So, that being said I don’t think it would cost either brand in this instance to have two choices: fair/medium and medium/dark. I think both looked beautiful on you. I have all of the Sisley foundations and I will say I have a tough time with Sisley complexion shades. I’m a 0 in some and a 1 in others. In fact, I cannot use any of their tinted Sun range because shade one is too dark. I love both brands but wish they were as focused on the ends of the spectrum as well as the middle. I think their investment would increase their profit margins. Maybe they will see your review and read our comments because your review was spot on and worth more than whatever they are spending on marketing in panels to give feedback. Thank you so very much, Grace. This was time very well spent.
❤️Thank you for sharing your experiences with both of these powders. I'm glad you are able to confirm some of my suspicions about these universal shades on other skin tones. I'm sure this information will be able to help others who might be more fair than me when it comes to deciding on which one to pick up. Thank you🌟🌟🌟
I have the Sisley Blur Powder & selected that one over the Chantecaille version as the shade is more consistent w/my medium olive skin tone (leaning warm) & thought the Chantecaille might be too light on me. I find the Sisley to be totally invisible on my skin & use it for buffing, finishing, & touching-up- really love it!! I have not tried it underneath foundation yet but will definitely do that soon! Thanks for testing these!!👍🏻😊
Hi Grace. Thank you for the nice video and the perfect review. Tip of the day :-) Sisley suggests to use the powder before your foundation. I tried it and it looks perfect. I really prefer it before foundation than over. xoxo from Paris
I love the Sisley one as a finishing, but have never tried it before, I need to definitely give it a try. I use the Sisley as a finishing everywhere except the under eye, for that I love the new Gucci one, I know, so many powders...
😊Thank you so much 💕I feel a great sense of responsibility when sharing information about high end makeup purchases. I know they are expensive, and I want to make sure the info is as accurate and thorough as possible. 🌟
Grace, I own the Sisley blur powder and the only thing I don’t like is that the Sisley is a colored powder that deepens my skin color. I don’t want to change the color of my makeup, just blur lines. In other words I wish it were translucent. Is the Chantecaille translucent?
❤️Thank you for letting us know your experience. The Chantecaille is more translucent I think on medium to fair skin tones. For more rich skin tones, I wouldn't think it would be as translucent as the Sisley.
Thanks so much for this in depth review! I’m a neutral tan and the chantecaille doesn’t look ashy at all on me. Before purchasing, I was nervous about that. I emailed Angela after seeing her on Kinkysweat’s live where they discussed the lack of diversity in their shade range, and she convinced me to try it. I’m so glad I did! I still would like to try the Sisley one day as everyone is saying it works well under foundation!
❤️ Thank you for letting us know it worked well for you. It’s always so tricky - even if you do have a chance to swatch it. It’s always a different experience to wear 🌸
So happy to see your comparison and hear your thoughts on these! I love Chantecaille Perfect Blur Powder so much, now I am wondering about Sisley one.. Thanks so much, Grace!!
Great review Grace! I have both powders, but I haven't worn them yet (especially since I haven't been anywhere in the past 6 months). I don't know if you saw Michele Wang's video on the Sisley powder, but she used it like you did and wasn't thrilled and Sisley contacted her and told her to try it under her foundation and she did another video showing it applied under her makeup and she likes it better. Just a thought. Also, it may depend on skin type too. I am going to eventually try both, and I wonder what my results will be? Thanks so much, this is very good information. Take care, Ginny 😘😘😘
💕I hope this didn't make it too complicated 😊 I think the Sisley might be better based on the longevity of the powders on my oily skin. Blessings to you as well 🌸
Thanks for the excellent review. I have fair skin and the Chantecaille can be a bit dark on me if I apply too much so I have resisted the Sisley for fear that it would be too dark. I might get it and try it under foundation because it really looks beautiful on you!
💕Thanks, Lexi! Thank you for letting us know about your experience with the Chantecaille. If that one is too deep for you, then I would think the Sisley would be very visible. It even showed up as a bit more tan on me. Hopefully, they'll expand the shade range since it's such a beautiful formula 🌸
Thank you for your review! I find that the Sisley is best used under foundation. I like to use the Laura Mercier Secret Blurring Powder for my under eyes and the Sisley on the rest of my face (or just t-zone area). Give the Sisley a try under foundation and see if it makes a difference for you.
Thanks for this great review! I have the medium/dark Chantecaille powder, and I’m shocked that it’s translucent. I wear between the last 2 deepest shades of their foundation. It’s totally invisible on me, and I like it a lot. Doesn’t hurt that the compact is beautiful. I got one with colorful flowers all over it. I’ve tried a lot of powder because I don’t wear much foundation, and I think Glossier’s Wowder might be my winner so far.
Great video. I just bought the Chantecaille Blur powder (2021 edition they are shipping the first week in May). Same product, different compact look. The longer wear matters to me more and as I'm older I don't want product that settles into lines. Really appreciate the detail you put into the review. You also look gorgeous. :)
Most seem to be saying to use the Sisley underneath foundation, which is not surprising. I recall hearing the benefits of powdering before foundation on other beauty channels.
I like the Chantecaille side better, but I like a blurring "powder" and I feel the Chantecaille gave a more powder like finish, while still being translucent. I'm medium skin tone and the Chantecaille is quite neutral on my skin.
❤️You're so right, Lisa. Personal preference on the finish has a lot to do with which one someone might choose. I'm so glad you love the Chantecaille 💕
I recently purchased one of Rae Morris’s brushes called the Jishaku 27 Mini Radiance brush and it really is amazing in how it perfects the blurs the products you use on the skin. I was considering the kabuki you used, but you don’t like it-? It sheds too much? Mine doesn’t shed at all. I am really glad I got it on sale through a private sale she had that was offered to me.
❤️ Thank you for the info on the mini radiance brush. Unfortunately, the mineral buff brush is just about the only brush I don't love by her - it is a bit scratchy and it does shed. The kabuki brushes are amazing though 🌟 I love the mini kabuki and the deluxe kabuki ❤️
I'm late to this video, but your eye shadow look is fantastic. Is there a tutorial on how you got this look? And your complexion looks fantastic. Thinking about that La Mer foundation now!
❤️Hi, Michele! I don't recall if I have a tutorial on this look, but I'll try to work something in that looks like it in the future 😊 Yes - the La Mer foundation is beautiful. 🌸
Grace, I love that you did this comparison! I have both powders & never really could tell which performed the best. I would just use them different days but I would try them with different foundations. I think you did a great very in depth test of the two powders and found which one works best for your skin type. I’m similar to you oily in the center & dry in the outer. I’m definitely going to do the test & try one on each side of my face. You have me so intrigued! Thank you for reviewing & testing out these two very popular powders! 😊🌷
❤️I'd love to know what you find out when you test them side-by-side! I've been doing that lately with products to get some context. This one did take me quite some time to get a handle on what made them different.💕
This is a very thorough analysis on these products. I wear my makeup for a long period of time. I have your skin type. I will have to pick up the Chantecaille. They still have it at Saks.
Thank you for a great comparison. I discovered your channel via Michele Wang and subscribed today! I appreciate that I can get reviews from someone with combination skin (in exactly the same areas) as myself. I’m looking forward to watching all of your videos.
🌸Thank you for heading over 🌟 Michele is the best! I love her channel too ❤️ I’m so glad you were able to find someone with your skin type. Products definitely behave differently based on various skin types. Please let me know if there’s anything you’d ever like to see featured🌟
😘I know you've been wondering about these 😊 I hope I was able to answer your questions. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like me to address ❤️
Great comparison...thank you so much! I have the Sisley but struggle with it OVER foundation, will try under. Now have the Chantecaille on its way! (and new subscriber!)
🌸Thank you so much for heading over and for subbing 😊 I truly appreciate it ❤️. You'll have to let us know how it works under foundation. I've tried it once, but I've got to try it a few more times to really form an opinion. 😊
Thanks for the in depth review. I have the Chantecaille and don’t reach for it as much as my koh gen do loose powder. I enjoy your videos. We have the same exact dark spots on the cheeks 😩
❤️Thank you! Oh yes, the dark spots - I feel your pain 😩 Let me know if there is anything that's working well for you to address those. I'm finally making some good progress - but I wonder if some of that has to do with being inside so much these days 🤔
I originally owned the Chantecaille, but returned it after getting the Sisley powder, I honestly don’t remember what exactly it was that made me keep the Sisley over the Chantecaille. I don’t use the Sisley under my eyes, because it does have a tint, I use the new Gucci powder in #1 for that, and I love it!!!
❤️Yes. I love the Gucci powder under the eyes, too. I'm so glad you found a powder that you love. The Sisley surprised me, since I'd swatched it in store a while ago, and it appeared powdery upon swatching. So the fact that it was less powdery was something I wasn't expecting. I was pleasantly surprised 😊
I just bought the Chantecaille to try...I'm solidly fair and Theresa is Dead loves it as a fair skinned individual. The Sisley looks beautiful on you but would be too dark for me. And I saw Chantecaille came out with a fair/medium (the original) and medium/dark. :o) Love the thorough review! Thank you...
I only own the Chantecaille powder and I absolutely love it. I have a medium neutral skin tone and use it as a finishing powder. It gives a finish it is hard to describe, filters and softens the look of my make up. I am still experimenting with brushes to use with it. Thank you for the review.

❤️I'm so glad you love the Sisley! I can see how if I was just a bit more tan it would be invisible on my skin. It's a lovely powder 🌸
The Sisley side actually looks awesome. They're both nice...but l prefer the Sisley side. Wow!
❤️Thank you so much, Sharon 😊
Hi Grace. Thank you for the nice video and the perfect review. Tip of the day :-) Sisley suggests to use the powder before your foundation. I tried it and it looks perfect. I really prefer it before foundation than over. xoxo from Paris

I have yet to try the Sisley that way, but seems like I must.
💕Thank you so much for the info on using it before foundation. I can't wait to try it 😊
💕I agree🙌🏼 The Gucci under the eyes is very good 🌟🌟🌟
Love how in depth you go. Excellent video! Details matter 😊
😊Thank you so much 💕I feel a great sense of responsibility when sharing information about high end makeup purchases. I know they are expensive, and I want to make sure the info is as accurate and thorough as possible. 🌟
Wow, the Sisley side was absolutely flawless. I’m not sure if it was the camera but it looked fantastic IMO.
I agree w/you on that....👍🏻
❤️Thank you! Yes. I did notice the camera definitely picked up on the Sisley finish really well.

I’ve heard they might be making more shades of the Sisley powder, Beautygypsy said it in one of her videos.
I love both of these powders! I use the Sisley before my foundation and use the Chantecaille as a finishing powder...
I haven't tried the Sisley that way yet, but several here are saying it works well so I need to give it a whirl.
💕Thank you so much for letting us know how these powders work well for you 😊
❤️I just used it today in conjunction with the La Mer powder to soften the area around my pores specifically 🌟

Can you use different foundation or have to be Sisley foundation
Hoai Ong You can use any foundation of your choice.
Nedine Robinson thank you!

Your thoughts on the Sisly loose powder verses the compact
❤️Thank you for the question. I haven't tried it yet, but I suppose I'll have to order it soon 😊
That is some good testing! Love it, thanks.
