What a beautiful, sensitive bittersweet story! I will always think of Peggy Wood as "Mama," because that is who she was when I first became aware of her. That show "Mama" has come to mean more and more to me with each passing year. I missed this wonderful performance the first time around. So grateful we have RUclips today to recapture these fine things from the past! My parents were fond of Peggy Wood too. We all were. They remembered her from her years as a star of musical comedy. My mother was so proud that she and Peggy Wood had gone to the same high school. Despite the dour, withdrawn, vinegary nature of her character "Higgy," the essential loveliness of Peggy Wood still shines through. She was a beautiful woman through and through.
Wow that's so neat!!! Do you still have your mother's yearbooks from the school? I wonder if Peggy is on one. But sounds like your family had wonderful taste indeed.
What a good actress she was! I worked in my younger years with some excellent nurses but, Miss Woods portrayal of a nurse was spot on. 👏 I have only a vague memory of this show.
And dang this is so intense. Nursing is in my blood and it's my passion and major. I'm totally into her portrayal as Higgins. This is just far out fantastic.
I truly adored Peggy Wood in all of her films. My favorite movie with Peggy, is Ruth&Naomi, 1963. Lol I wasn't even thought of at the time, but still watch the movie almost every night before sleeping. *I am weiry oh God*,
Which head nurse do you prefer . Stage trained, serious Shirl Conway as Liz Thorpe in The Nurses or sultry, sexy Julie London as Dixie McCall in Emergency ?

For me, she's the Mother Abbess in the Sound of Music. This show I've never heard of but it was beyond brilliant.
I think the character's dour nature adds to the story. It's years of loneliness and hard work that have made her that way.
That's what happens when you live to work; a very realistic and poignant depiction.

I love this series and I’m thrilled at seeing this posted! Thank you so very much! ❤

Wasn't it wonderful? Suggest it to your friends. Peggy Wood got an Oscar nomination for playing the Mother Abbess in "Sound of Music".

That was a really good film. Normally I'm not a fan of hollywood biblical blah films but it's the only one I've actually liked
