Guys complaining that Jung Hawn let slip so many chances must understand his character. He is not a person who is comfortable in expressing his feelings. Its not letting chances go away but this. Remember how awkwardly he hugged Taek, how uncomfortably he gave his mother that packet he bought for her, how quietly he helped his mother with that passport thing without saying anything. He does things for his loved ones without saying. And for him that is love. He is too mature to say I love you. He shows it with his actions. If somebody understands it that person will understand Jung Hawn. And then when he saw Taek had already made his move and Deok Sun was also looking for Taek he gave it up for friendship. As I said he is too mature.

This drama is just so realistic, thats why duk seon cant end up with jung hwan. This also teach us a lot about junghwan's first love story that happen to so many people in this life. Maybe if they both end up together, we might feel so happy, but that story become unreal. Aplouse 👏

deoksun seems to know that junghwan likes her, so deoksun always tried to be close to him. but what really aches me is, junghwan hesitate to take chance to confess to his first love...
His character is such. He is not comfortable in emotional situations.
That is why he ended upon losing her

I don't really think so. I think DS has never really love Jung hwan. When we were young. It was really hard to tell true love our of best friends, pride, the demand to be loved ... DS was in that loop until later on, she realized she loved Taek. Someone who forgot her backpack on the day of school can remember all the small detail so she can take very good care of Taek on the China trip. Someone who crazy about food like her can put a hold on the beefsteak to bring food to Taek and wait patiently to make sure he ate all before she left. I feel sorry for Jung Hwan but right at the beginning, they don't really mean for each other. Besides, I think Taek loved DS more thang JH. When DS had uneasy stomach JW asked if she was ok. Taek followed her and prepare her the medicine. In Taek eyes, DS is cute no matter what she is doing or wearing.

This is probably the best K-drama I've ever watched. It's so genuine and the characters are brilliant. I've watched it over and over. A lot of memorable scenes!
Watched it about 5 times now. It became my "safe place" so to speak. I can relate so much. Miss the old neighborhood, the kids I used to play with, when life was simple and we were living carefree. Best k-drama ever.

While watching this drama I was living with them fictionally ... Neither do I feel this way and even now it makes me cry. Because it tells the story of a generation we left behind. This generation will never understand or respect this drama. I found many of teenagers did badmouth after this drama ended. I don't know why. This generation forget that there are still some generations who grew up watching war, crisis, poverty, rebuild the nation or country not dating sugar daddy or sugar mommy or spending night using internet.

Nahh, if u watch the drama carefully and very attentive u will know that they are not meant to be. That's the reality of life. The drama pd show it very detail on WHY they didn't end up together. I understand it. Maybe u guys who complained about this shud watch it again unless u guys are a kids that still doesn't understand how life works.
I love Jungwhan, and when I was younger, I rooted for him too, but now that I watch reply 1988 again, it's only realistic that wth all his hesitations, Dukseon got with Taek instead. That was one of the life messages that this drama wanted us to get, if you want something (or someone in this situation), don't hesitate. This isn't a simple romance drama that you can very easily predict who's going to end up with who and all that, you can't do it in real life. And I think this drama is very slice of life genre rather than a romance

The fact that so many people relate with him is bcoz this is the story of those many beautiful yet incomplete love stories around the globe which were beautiful in their own even though they could not meet a beautiful end because one didn't have the courage to Speak up or speak at the right time about their feelings.
We need to express Ourselves & not waste the opportunity because TIMING matters.So don't complain & enjoy and cherish this masterpiece of a series. ❤❤❤

i read it somewhere that the actual ending on the script the writer wrote was junghwan died in plane crash while he's in military. which is explain the whole flashback and the ring he gave i think

Anyways, jung Hwa taught me 1 lesson, in life if you really badly want something don't wait for destiny to work. Be courageous enough to fight for what you want even if you are not sure if you will have it. No harm in trying.

88's never says it keeps hesitating.
