The vent attacks are more quicker than door attacks so you don't need to hide all you have to do is turn off lights and stop moving until the vents close
To know if one of you is chatting or the intruder It is recommended to play while on VC and don't chat That way you can tell if it's the intruder chatting or one of your friends

Tip: when the intruder is on cam 2 he will sometimes go to cam 7 which is the backyard and then he will turn the power off
