i saw this at a-kon 2013 during the amv contest and it's one of the only times i've ever seen an applause after an amv. it's really damn good.
I like the fact is that by the time he 'adopted' Rin, his life change and he began to have a better lifestyle since he has a reason to live for.
Yeah. Its what makes the story so whole. They both grow and learn, he more than her. Its both an adorable and an encouraging story. I was cheering them on through my tears all the way. Struggles have purpose.
The idea with Polaroids was genius. I love this! It hurts so good.

When I'm feeling depressed or angry or fed up with life I drop one episode of this anime on and sit down. Pretty much any episode will do, it doesn't matter. Within 20 minutes I am fixed up again and ready to face the world. Its a truly magical anime. Forget drugs, doctors should prescribe this.

When 30-year-old Daikichi Kawachi returns home for his grandfather's funeral he learns about the existence of Rin Kaga, his grandfather's illegitimate six-year-old daughter by an unknown mother. The girl is an embarrassment to all his relatives and is treated like an outcast.
Annoyed by their attitudes, Daikichi decides to take care of Rin himself, even though he is single and has no experience in raising a child. As Rin becomes part of his life, Daikichi experiences the hardships of being a single parent. He is befriended by the single mother of Kouki Nitani, a young boy that Rin meets in nursery school, who gives him advice on raising Rin.

Just to clear stiff up, he is NOT the girl's father. SHE is his aunt. His grandpa was taking care of her, and raised her as his child, but the grandpa died, so he takes care of her. She doesn't like calling him dad, and he doesn't call himself her dad. But they are close, like a father daughter relationship

It could have been handled better. If they'd played out the time skip and explained what caused his change of heart I could have accepted it. Though I understand why people wouldn't like it.
It's...honestly one of the sweetest, most unique anime I've ever seen. I've never been so touched when watching an anime. She's just so adorable and the story is so real. I can really identify with the characters as human beings

This show was a good change of pace after watching a lot of drama, action, romance, slice of life, etc.

For people arguing about how they hate the way the manga goes please keep in mind that in Japan not being blood related is pretty much the same as not being related at all. It doesn't count as incest. Only their feelings made the relationship they had one between a father and a daughter and if those changed, that relationship doesn't exist anymore.
i dont think that is true since there are allot of Japanese stories that say that it counts as incest.

That doesn't matter. The fact still remains that she was like a daughter to him and the ending tainted what was an innocent story with unneeded perversion.

After watching this, i stopped watching the anime i was currently watching to watch this anime. I couldnt believe that i skipped this anime so many times. Im happy that i watched it now and this amv was great. Good job.

The anime was absolutely beautiful, and heart-warming. The manga, on the other hand, was not. I mean, Daikichi RAISED her, and she ends up falling in love with him? It's odd, even for Japan. I mean, he was pretty much her dad, and they had such a good father-daughter vibes, it gave you smiles. For those who absolutely LOVED the anime for it's heart-warming sense, I suggest you don't read the manga. It'll ruin it.

Since Rin was being taken care of the guy who took her in, she starts liking him. Although you find out they are not related. It's still weird though, because he thought of her as his daughter, unlike Rin, she wants to bear his child.......yeah it gets pretty weird.

i read the manga after everyone in the comments is like no, don't do it. I didn't think it ruined the story, i think it was rather well thought out consequence of not making their relationship clear in the beginning. I imagine the same danger is present if you adopt a young child and don't make yourself out to be their new parent clearly.

That's all a matter of perspective, I've known of what happens, but I still love the message the anime delivers. It's not something everyone experiences, it's just your inability to null something that happens.
It's different. It can be hard to get used to. It threw me off at first but after giving it some time it actually won me over. The art style did win some awards in some international anime festivals or something.
I just finished this anime (i started it last night) and all i have to say in my personal opinion it's the best anime ever created cx

Don't worry, dude or dudette. Bunny Drop is heartwarming straight through-no massive heartbreak to be found. It's "A Warm and Fuzzy Feeling: the Anime". I highly recommend it.

Yeah, the ending in the manga is messed up. No way would any adult who raised and took care of child all the way to adulthood,would be okay hearing that.They would have said that we might not be blood-related but we are still family. Like you see in movies or tv shows where the child finds out that they are not related to the one(s) taking care of them.

Firstly, I agree it's weird.
Secondly, I am fairly sure she isn't his Aunt, it is later revealed in the manga. Gramps only acted as Rin's father for her mother's sake.
+Cameron Hillman gramps acted as a father because the mother was unwilling to a act like a mother. That doesn't mean that he wasn't the father. It just means that he had to take a more active role in parenting cuz the mother didn't care.

+Rolando Delgado The whole message the author was trying to get across is that love is love. Neither age difference nor current relationship status matters when it comes to true love. They were both of age, unrelated, consenting adults who were deeply in love. It's a rather beautiful ending to an equally beautiful story, I just find it frustrating (yet not surprising) that a lot of people have close-minded/skewed reactions to it.

I would highly recommend this anime, Usagi drop, to anyone. It's completely different to what I would usually watch, but it's so moving and touching (and weighs in at an easy 11 episodes) that I was hooked throughout.
I swear that's one of the cutest amv's iv ever seen :D

I have to say that the person really grasped the entire series very well with this amv. To say that he/she did a wonderful job is saying the pope is a little catholic.
