The whiffed edgeguard at 15:15 is probably the most heartbreaking moment of the tournament.

I was very divided throughout this set, on the one hand I wanted to see Tweek play Leo or Sparg0 again and on the other I wanted to see a Puff for the first time in a top 8 Major.

BassMage made so many good decisions. His optimization is what makes him the best Puff, is what gets him here. A couple misses does not discount his mastery. Good show.
Bassmage was spamming side b too much making it easy for Tweek to punish him. If Bassmage corrected this bad habit he might have won.
Can we all sit back and appreciate the fact that a puff got 9th and took tweek to game 5 last stock last hit situation?!

Tweek should've won game 3. Tweek was like 2 frames off from taking the second stock with low percent and it cost him his huge lead.
@@shikarixox1195 you're pushing it. Bass was pixels away from actually winning the entire set on multiple occasions, not just taking a stock for a lead
I guess you can say game 4 tweek cause that was insanely clutch by tweek, but also a huge throw by bassmage

It’s pretty frustrating hearing commentators talking about the diddy - puff matchup without really knowing a lot about it, they just talk about the surface stuff. it’s definitely a winning MU for diddy, maybe not a +2 for diddy but winning for diddy non the less. BassMage even said he thought so in his stream like 1 or 2 days ago.
I can see why they make these assumptions but now whenever I beat a diddy I just hear them complain about the Matchup even though it’s in their favor
bassmage makes many mistakes (here are the few i believe), hungrybox has a better neutral than bassmage but bassmage has more clutch combos and edge guards.

11:59 puff should thrown the banana then grabbed?
12:53 puff should have done charged f-smash or rollout

The last game Bassmage he could have done much better if he camped more and in many other games Bassmage kept doing unsafe moves
@@aoeu256 you would almost think he’s human and thus can make mistakes lol, also I don’t agree on HungryBox having better neutral, he might still have that adaptive mind being the best player in melee but he lacks a lot of good usage of puffs tools in ultimate.
Like most puff mains (including me) say “HungryBox could be PGR if he learned how to use d-air correctly” also IDJ is something he’s missing in his neutral.
Yeah, but I mean... To be fair, this has got to be one of the least seen match ups out there.
With 89 playable characters in the game, matchup knowledge for every scenario is impossible.
Sometimes the surface stuff is all you have until you learn more.

Bassmage is miles away the best puff in the world. Hbox is not even in the conversation for best puff in ult.

I'll say, mash matters a lot. You may not be able to hit rest before they roll/dodge. I agree not to take the risk.
Felt like bassmage mentally cracked in the last two stocks. After mentally being just ever so ahead of tweek, the endurance race got to him. *cough*should've camped*cough*

Bassmage didn't have to approach when he was up a stock in game 4.... Tweek's just a camper even when he's down a stock, take advantage of that shit and camp him back so u have the advantage. Tweek's Diddy relies on punish game and aerial reads. Bassmage would've won if he camped Tweek out

There’s quite so things to point out they were doing wrong as commentator from a commentators’ perspective but I do agree they brought energy to the set which was great

This character had a good matchup vs diddy Kong, and it’s a character with some jank that nobody has matchup experience for. Idk that I’d personally say low tier but this set doesn’t really prove the high level capabilities for this char

Bassmage being amazing at the game doesn’t mean jigglypuff is good. Most of her matchups are still bad

Bassmage seems to go for too many unsafe options... esp the last game.
He knows more than anyone what to do, sometimes nerves gets to him but he purposely plays unsafe so people don't expect rests and that sort never almost never pummples
Rest just is too risky at a high level, I agree with some of your points, though. Also he didn't want to f throw because dthrow does 20 damage with pummel, and he knew he would beat tweek in neutral.
Lmao it’s easy to point and say exactly what should have been done when watching a video recording of a match that already happened. I guarantee that when you play smash you make about 100 times as many mistakes/sub-optimal plays as bassmage does

@@airhead3409 lol ultimate has like 70 ish characters, and a lot of them are bad. They have a BIG pool of characters to choose from that still have room for buffs. Yet they keep buffing very lame/boring characters and they even buff them in the lamest ways too. Sorry but making lil mac destroy shields in 1 hit is not gonna make him good, just more annoying. They keep buffing lame and very polarizing aspects of characters and they double down on cheesy jank stuff as ''buffs'' instead of adressing what makes those characters weak and lame in the 1st place. Same thign with puff, people just don't realize it but puff is an extremely lame character, she just has the low tier pass. She's unhealthy for the game.
@@ynsmdd8678 I see your point and I think there's roughly two way to buff characters. One is the way as you described, to make their strengths even stronger and the other would be to make every character more well rounded. I fear though that if they did that, that too many characters would feel very alike? That can be good, can be bad, we won't know. The only part I disagree with is that I think Puff is a very enjoyable character to play as; granted, not so much to play against though
