I went to South Eugene high school with Steve Smeed in Eugene Oregon. I think there was a pottery class at school where he got involved and became pretty much obsessed with it ever since. He would show up at the Saturday market in Eugene OR and hang around the alternative crowd of people which was popular in the hippie era. My guess is that he graduated when I did in 1974 and is probably 66 years old.
