- It has been eight years since we lost the most creative and naturally gifted surfing acrobat on Earth. On May 5, 2015, Barney passed on due an aneurysm, which still has the world feeling devastated. Every day that goes by we remember his unique word play, physical tricks and routines that naturally mixed gymnastics, parkour, dance, comedy, acrobatics, climbing, and surfing, but most of all we miss his kind, loving and friendly spirit, which he freely shared with every person, plant and animal he came across. There has never been and will never be a individual like Shawn Barney Barron.
Quizo...you would never know how much you brightened our lives and how many people you inspired and made smile.
I made this song for you Barney and for all of us to keep you in our hearts and minds.
We'll be missing you.

That was absolutely awesome! I surfed with Barney and the Volcom guys on the outer Banks years ago. He was the one smiling and not dropping in on everyone. I'll never forget that guy.
I saw him run full sprint with his board in hand across the whole length of the 52nd jetty in Newport and jump off into the lineup. Anyone who’s walked on that knows it’s not a flat surface.
Still amazes me to this day
I was fortunate enough to hang with him and some of his crew at the ‘99 Mark Richard’s pro at Newcastle. Absolute Legend!!! R.I.P 🙏

Always looked like he was having so much fun every clip I’ve seen of him. Legend. RIP 🙏
He always was. And everyone around him as a result.
I got to meet him on a promotional tour in Humboldt in a pizza place. We watched surf vids with a bunch of other groms. We got free stickers and I remember being so stoked to meet a surfing star.
That was very sweet, shows how that community feel about Barney. RIP
he had a good energy 😇🙏
Bought an M10 from him back in 2002 after an airshow in Hermosa and chatted for a bit, super nice guy and fun surfer to watch. RIP 🙏🏼🧡

Great little tribute to one of the most soulful surfers ever. I never met him but my friends Taylor Steele and Rich Woolcott knew him and I miss watching him rip in surf videos when I was growing up in San Diego. Stoked on your videos TR , keep em coming. Funny, I was just thinking about Senor Barron, like, last week. Never knew him, just a fan of the whole Crew as they were Santa Cruz to me when I was learning to surf as a transplant snowboarder in 1999 -2003. Eventually would see a few of the boys here and there, even outside SC, around the time I actually moved here and was trying to figure out the Lane. I liked his parts in that Surf flick Up And Down California or whatever with Donovan Frankenreiter where the Boys wore their Superhero wetsuits. Honestly I was shocked when I heard he passed. I’m assuming g that clip where he ends up in the Hawaiian-Bless-The-Surf-Gods-For-this-Wave position facing the horizon on his back was Puerto - totally a Barney surf moment. F’in Classic. Feel bad for his homies and family.
