  • Bussana Vecchia is a town that suffered earthquake in 1887. Back then it was called Bussana and it was almost destroyed. The people who survived was transfered to a new town downhill that was named Bussana. The old ghost town was renamed Bussana Vecchia (The Old) and was uninhabited for more than 70 years. At the end of the 1950's few artists began to come and take home in the abandoned wrecked town. More arrived during the 1960's and started to restore some houses. Now Bussana Vecchia is known as The Artists Town. The houses are almost all rebuilt and the town is a nice beautiful historical Italian town. But the issue is that Italian government reclaims the town as its property. Inhabitants don't want to leave, they argue they have rights for the years of works and the rebirth of a town that was forgotten by the State and the government. Autorities now even want taxes ti be payed for all the years of occupation. The legal issue goes on.
