Hey, thanks for posting this video! Helps out a lot! Quick question tho, where did you get that music stand? I've been searching everywhere for it with no luck
By default, it will be from the external device (other speakers). However, in this video, I have the headphone output of the iPad plugged into the audio input on the CT-S200, which will let me hear the app audio through the keyboard speakers.
No, all you need is a Micro-USB to USB-A Data cable. It is class compliant USB-MIDI and will not require any drivers to be used as a MIDI input source. It should appear as "CASIO USB-MIDI" when you configure the MIDI sources in your recording program.
Yes, it is a Class Compliant USB-MIDI device. No drivers are required. It will work as a MIDI input source in GarageBand, or any other applications that can in respond to MIDI input over USB.
There is no app mode on the CT-S models. They interface entirely via USB-MIDI, so as long as you have the right cables, it should show up as a USB-MIDI source in apps like Chordana Play. App mode was a feature specific to the older generation of Casio keyboards (CTK-2550) which didn’t have a USB-MIDI connection. You will need a Micro-USB data cable to connect to the USB slot on the back panel of the CT-S, and an adapter that will allow you to connect full sized USB devices to your mobile device. This is Casio’s official handout that covers the recommended adapters for different types of phones and tablets. Ignore the stuff mentioning USB printer cables (the Casiotones use the Micro-USB cable) and just focus on the adapter that matches the type of phone you have. web.casio.com/app/en/piano/support/connect.pdf
Good morning Chandler, I have the cts 300 and I have cable that has a built-in OTG that I need to hook it to my phone, but I was wondering if you could answer this in case Casio takes while to text me back, one end of the cable says host on it, and the other says cablecreation, I'm just wondering do you know if the cable Creation side goes into the Casio and the host goes into the phone, or is it the other way around? And thanks in advance
I would definitely recommend going with the CT-S200. The USB-MIDI makes it much more versatile for music production, and they keybed on the new CT-S models is way better than the old one used on the CTK-2550. If you really want to make the most of USB-MIDI control, I'd advise spending a bit extra to get the CT-S300, which has velocity sensitive keys and a pitch bend wheel added in. Both of those features make it much better suited for controlling external software instruments.
when i use the midi with this keyboard in garageband, the key signature is always stuck in C. whether i change it in the garageband or on the casiotone itself , it still stays the same. would u know anyway of working around this?
First you'll need a micro USB data cable. The micro USB end plugs into the slot on the back panel of the CT-S200, and the other end will be a full sized USB-A connector. Next you'll need an adapter that will allow you to connect your specific brand of mobile device to full sized USB-A devices. Read this official handout from Casio for more information. web.casio.com/app/en/piano/support/connect.pdf Ignore the part where it says to get a USB A-B (printer) cable, just focus on the adapter that plugs into your brand of mobile. Once you have your Micro USB cable and the appropriate adapter for your model of phone/tablet, start the app. Once you're on the main piano roll screen, turn on your CT-S200 and then connect the Micro-USB cable to the slot on the back panel. Then connect the adapter to your mobile device, and finally connect your the USB-A end of the Micro USB cable to the USB-A port on your adapter. Assuming you have all the right cables, it should say "Connecting" for a brief moment and then a message will pop up saying "CASIO USB-MIDI Connected" to show that the connection was established correctly.
Hi I tried connecting CTS300 to my iPad using lightning to USB camera adapter and then a USB to micro USB cable but I can’t seem to get it to play sounds on GarageBand? It works on my android phone using a USB c to micro USB connection.
If it's working on another device, then the problem is either with your Lighting to USB adapter or the MIDI input settings in GarageBand. Are you using a first party Apple lightning adapter, or an off brand one? The third party adapters have been known to be spotty with their support for USB devices.
You will need a Lightning to USB adapter to connect full sized USB devices to your iOS device’s lightning port, and a Micro USB data cable to connect the adapter to your CT-S200.
This is Casio's CZ app for iOS, an emulation of their classic CZ synthesizers from the 80s. However, the CT-S models all have class compliant USB-MIDI, so they will work as MIDI controllers in all sorts of software on Windows, Mac, iOS, or Android. If you're looking for other apps on iOS, GarageBand is a free and popular option. I've been having a lot of fun playing around with Moog's Minimoog app too.
The CT-S200 is not velocity sensitive at all, either with the internal sounds or when it is being used as a MIDI controller in external software. However, you can designate a fixed MIDI Out velocity value between 0-127 in the Function menu, and all key presses will be sent out with whatever velocity you've chosen for that setting. If you're looking for a similar model with velocity sensitive keys and a pitch bend wheel (ideal for MIDI control), I recommend spending a bit extra for the CT-S300.

It should have come in the box with your keyboard. They're not available for separate purchase because they're always bundled in with the CT-S models.
They should come with it
Does the midi sounds play from the keyboards inbuilt speakers itself or from other external speaker?
It works as a midi controller, so it uses the output of your device to play the sounds. Simple answer: external speakers
By default, it will be from the external device (other speakers). However, in this video, I have the headphone output of the iPad plugged into the audio input on the CT-S200, which will let me hear the app audio through the keyboard speakers.
