The countryside and crick there is breathtaking! Just like my homeland in SW Ohio. There's not much that can beat crick fishing and you got Trout and those big Chubs so that's awesome. We have lots of smallmouth bass and the action can be dynamite.
What a lovely trout the size of it so she said lol I'm a course fisherman but thinking of changing to fly fishing or something along the lines of the way your fishing so calm and lovely different views that you see plus you never know what your going to catch which is so exciting for me love the channel all the best for the new year
I know I’m lucky! I do end up driving a lot to get to the places I fish though, I have a nice on my doorstep but to get to most of the places I fish it’s a 30 min to an hour drive. Well worth it for the views though in my opinion!
I caught my new Pb brown trout the other day , 21 inches , 3.1lb , great vid man ( you should try using braid man , I find 6-10 lb is the best for chub and trout , you’ll get so much more distance , i much prefer it to straight mono/flauro , the down side is tying leaders but it’s a fair traid off )
Good effort mate that’s a big trout! I use braid for my pike fishing currently but not trout, I’m getting a 2000 reel soon so I think I’ll spool it with light braid and maybe 10lb fluro leader. Thanks for the suggestion I appreciate the advice!
It's hard to judge fish size on camera rather than in the flesh but your first chub appeared to be 2 to 2.5lb; second was 3 to 3.25lb and your beautiful Brownie was 2 to 2.25lb est. The chub you lost was bigger, I'd say 4lb+. I've caught good chub on lures in Bedfordshire on the R. Ouse ranging from 0.75lb to 6lb on a famous barbel and chub stretch where Matt Hayes and Mick Brown have fished. Big (and small) chub love lures when in the mood. They are greedy fish but easily spooked - the trick is to make sure they don't know you are there! By the way, size doesn't matter but the quality of fishing does but we all want that BIG fish ;-0) Tight lines and thanks for your vids.
Glad you liked the video mate! Yeah this was a good trip out, had plenty of action. Can’t wait to do some more chub fishing this year on that river. Lures are definitely my favourite way of targeting them

Really enjoying your channel, recently started fishing and I'm lure fishing a river for Pike and perch etc. Should I be moving spots often? If so, after how many casts? Also, is it favourable to let the lure hit the bottom or do you start twitching and pulling back soon after landing?
Thanks mate! Move spots quite often unless you're getting bites. And that depends what lure you're using, for some jigs and softbaits bouncing along the bottom works well. For spinners and crankbaits etc then start reeling as soon as it lands!
@@adventurefishinguk see what I mean? Complete newbie 😜 so, at the mo I've been doing a bit of fly fishing and caught nothing but a cold. I liked the stuff you were doing by the canal, but also the video using lures. Is it a case of different lines for those, or is there a decent all rounder?
@@stevebutton4112 with 10lb maxima chameleon line you can trout fish, perch fish and a bit on the sea all with lures. It’s pretty much an all rounder, If you wanted to fish for pike though you’d need 30-40lb braid
Thanks for watching mate! I'd agree, at the time i hadn't been fishing for chub for long so to me that was very big. On the trout side of things, that fish is considerably bigger than anything i've ever had from that river. Its a rare catch of a stocked brown trout on a wild river with a small average size of fish! The duke of somewhere or another stocks them on his stretch downstream and occasionally one like that makes its way up. Whether you deem a fish to be massive or not is definitely down to personal experience, and for me at the time it definitely felt like it on ultralight gear! A couple of years back i'd have thought a 5lb pike was big!

Thanks for watching! It's a shame we don't get bass over here, a real bucket list catch for me!
It's hard watching you fish on a day like that after I've been out today in the cold and rain
Haha well the weather comes and goes! Had plenty of soaking wet sessions too, happens to the best of us
Try using the mini breakaway links. I use them bass luring. They’re great for attaching lures to your rubbing leader, and their small and discreet.
Thanks for the advice! Just started using those myself for bass fishing actually, not so much other kinds of fishing yet though
Crocs in sport mode 😆 love it!
😂 not gonna risk having them in comfort mode in the river
Unbelievable performance on the croc front.
Think I might have to wear them again, definitely a lucky pair

How do you find trout in a river?
Try find a nice narrow part of the river not to deep. Cast onto the shadows, theyll wack it.
I personally think look for signs of fish moving like minnows, then features like cover, trees, pools and bends 👍
