For those who are wondering, the music is Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11: I. Allegro maestoso. Thank you Oisin for another great video! My favorite AT is actually the older model with the blue dial AKA Skyfall. The sunburst+vertical stripe dial in blue looks incredible.
Great review as always, green hand for me too. Wife and I appreciate all the B roll footage. Hope to be there in March to enjoy the beauty you get to see everyday. Cheers.
Great detail on this video! I was just surprised by my wife with the other golf edition - white dial with orange accents on the rubber strap for my birthday (newer version). Contrast is perfect on the dial with the applied grey hour markers and hands. I also have to say that the rubber strap is very high quality, is really comfortable and looks great with the stitching. The Aqua Terra is a great watch with a great movement and absolutely be a one watch collection...if you could settle on just having one!
These Omegas are absolutely STUNNING! The ONLY reason why I haven't gotten an aqua terra yet is because I feel like I will have too many Omegas, I want a diverse collection! lol
Holy Smoke, you are back. Great Video. This is what you do best in my humble opinion. A video less than 30mins in length, talking and walking the streets of Venice. The music - perfect,.
Bought the AT in blue in 2019. Love the date at 6 and unbordered too. It's become my good going out watch. Speedy and SMP for everyday wear. Price rose twice on these in 2019 alone through boutique. Very underrated watch. Great video. Cheers Oisin.
One thing I really respect about Oisin; he may be a Rolex fan boy, but he really gets the Omega thing. He really understands how brilliant the Omega brand is and is no fool when it come to what you’re actually getting for the money. Truly a watch lover…
How can you not love the aqua terra...And if one's feelings towards anyone or any object is expressed with Chopin, those are deep feelings. Love your videos. Cheers!
Perfect and détailed comparison oisin and fully agree! The Best of the Best (IMHO) is the skyfall worn by craig! Absolutly perfect with its fully brushed bracelet and "human size" of 39mm!! And it s a James bond! Appriciated by craig himself.
For me the older version does it. I was not aware about the hour changing mechanism just like a GMT , that’s sweet. But now to your review: I love it that you really mention the points which are important during daily use. All reviewers tend to make nice lume shots and say how great Omega is in that. I totally agree with you, the lume is nice to look at, but when you wake up in the dark with your eyes trying to focus, it is impossible to tell the time ( same goes for the seamaster professional divers). Also angry at Omega pricing, why is the AT more expensive than the Professional diver 300? Same movement, but AT has only 150m, no ceramic bezel and the bracelet has no micro adjustment. I would switch the AT bracelet to leather strap anyway. This I is first time I’m watching your video, it’s really a great review and you’ll get my subscription. And boy, that deep voice of yours😂
My wrist is 7.5" and I purchased the Green dial current version. I agree with the Cupcake Crown is difficult to use and makes winding the watch and setting a bit of a challenge. Aesthetically it's a fantastic watch and it has a place in every collection. I was able to get mine new for $4200 USD from my AD based on my buying history but 15% plus should be the norm.
Holy ****, that intro was the most beautiful presentation of a watch i have ever seen! Thank you for this video! i still cant decide between green and blue ;)
Omega Aqua Terra black dial 38mm on the bracelet that’s my dream watch. Saving from last 3 years and still have only half of the price. :( But I’m not giving up! One day I buy it brand new ! Absolutely love this watch ♥️ it’s perfect. Thank you for video 👍
This watch guys video intro and musical accompaniment is simply on another level. The locations and his easy going leisurely laconic style of presentation and image complements the expensive beautifully crafted watches that he presents. It’s not all fluff either, lots of details and first hand observations and experience of wearing and using the watches are thrown into to give an excellent real world overview of the watches. There are many excellent watch channels on YT but many are manned by nerdy types giving a lot of details, stats and numbers about watch markets and what’s ‘hot’ and what’s not. Those are for speculators who are far more interested in figures and asset worth more than anything else. These are not the same enthusiasts who genuinely love watches and know how to wear, use and enjoy them properly in style and occasions, regardless of price or market values.
Just minutes ago purchased the small seconds . My second as I also have the traditional . Perhaps my favourite watch . When a watch is simple but yet also very interesting then in my book they have nailed it . Wears lovey on the wrist . Try on the small seconds think you will buy it ..
Great points here. I have both the 8500 and 8900. The 8500 wears better (longer lugs) and the bracelet is beefier and looks nicer than the very flat 8900 bracelet. For me, the 8900's flat clasp underside is a plus, but not enough to outweigh the aforementioned areas in which the 8500 is superior.
Bought my first omega last week, a speedmaster racing co-axial ( white dial ) , and love it , wanted a slightly " dressier " watch , and have been looking, and then watched your video So .. on the strength of this video.. I've just this minute, gone and bought the Seamaster Aqua Terra, same as the green dial , in your video Thanks very much ... really informative 👍🏻
I prefer the horizontal “teak deck planks” and 8900 movement of the newer version. Recently purchased the slate-blue/grey dial version with the cyan hand and markers.
Oisin , I didn’t realize that the two had different case architecture until you pointed it out, I agree with you on the older model, it’s much better looking and also sits better on the wrist . Great video as usual and the colors of the Venice sky really enhanced the video as well . Cheers .
Decided last year that I need to add one. They're receiving lots of coverage now, which is good, but it's also bad in that more pre-owned examples will get snapped up before I have a chance 😋
You’re great with the watch review content. I’ve had 4 or five Omegas with the 8900 movement. It’s great. Currently have the AT GMT Worldtimer. Would love the $40K AT in titanium. Amazing watch.
Yesss!! Some great Omega content again. I have the 8500 model with the blue dial and much prefer it to the new model. The movement is pretty much the same just without the Certificate you get on the new ones. I hadn’t picked up on the subtle differences in relation to the bracelet but the one I have is fantastic. Another great vid, thanks Oisin 👌
This popped up at exactly when I needed it. Am wanting a daily Omega and one of these will be the one. Have a Globemaster Annual but don’t want to beat my way through my day as a doctor with it. These are great. Ty.
Great review! Also really happy to see the videos coming more frequently again. I like these AquaTerra's and love the tremendous job you've done capturing one of the things i love the most about Omegas: the dial elements tend to catch the light before the dial at certain angles and there something about that which adds joy to wearing Omega. I think I could go for either of these but would need the smaller variant as 41mm with such a large dial:bezel ratio means it will likely just look too big on my 6.75in wrist. I think that means 38mm for me. I worry about these being a bit too blingy as well and it pains me to say this as an Omega fanboy, but I actually thing the IWC Spitfire would be a better alternative for me with this "everyday" type watch. That said, the IWC would likely have trouble going formal whereas the AT would not. Great work!
I've got the older one, and still prefer it. But after 7years the oldie ran 30sec fast, before finally stopping (OK left the crown open, ocean ) but after full service and about 25% of the movement placed in a bag, new crystal, dial, crown, and several grams lighter is good as almost new. Great watches.
You might want to take a look at the first generation(2002-2008), 39-42mm. They were perfect, symmetrical, and none of the faux yack-wood pattern... My pearl dial with blued handles are exceptional. Then bought the Railmaster version. Mate black, no date. will keep enjoying them for decades. Had a replacement mesh bracelet(StrapCode) on my everyday Railmaster. It's a tank and more desk dive scratches resistant than the bracelet. As for today, My everyday watch would be likely the new Seamaster 300. I could easily see myself wearing that one everyday on the bracelet, leather or nato.
First class comparison with your customary and beautiful photography. The subtle differences between the two Watches are astonishing when pointed out. I thought I preferred the horizontal 'decking' of the dial but the 'fit', the crown and the chunky bracelet of the earlier model might be the game changer for me. The asymmetric nature of the case was a revelation. Top notch review.
Nice comments and comparison between these two ATs. The logic of my purchase actually is very similar to what you introduce here. Finally I got a white AT 8500 instead of a blue 8900. So far I enjoy it a lot.
Oh great. You posted this right after I purchased the Seamaster Pro 300M. Now I want an AT, too! (But I do think I want the newer one since that green dial is soooooo nice.)
Oisin. Great review. A lot of detail. One advantage of the hour hand advancing one hour at a time to change the date is that you can’t accidentally break the watch, there is no ‘danger time’ when you can’t adjust the date. Secondly it’s worth noting that the rubber strap with deployment (deployant) clasp (and contrast stitching) is very well-made and worth your consideration with the newer model.
It’s like you were speaking to me in this video as I’ve been thinking about this watch recently to round out the collection. Thank you and good work as always.
Or get the smaller size ( which has a quick set Dare but not hour) ? I'm just put if by the bracelet, lume (?) & doesn't the coaxial movement have to serviced by Omega - who will polish your piece even if one doesn't want it polished? Apologies, I felt I was starting to rant ( I'll have to listen to that Chopin(?) again..).
The butterfly clasp issue, I have a Lunar Pilot with the same butterfly mechanism. I took a move out of your playbook (the vid with the Breitling and how their folding clasp is more curved) and biased the links so the “bump” is offset from my wrist tendons. It lays perfectly now 👍🏻
I have the 2014 AT Green Golf Edition. Never noticed the symmetry until you mentioned it, but spot on as it clearly is incorporated as a crown guard. This version is AntiMagnetic and I would venture your version is too. The 2014 version second hand instead of being all green has only a green tip extension. Another difference is the date window is boxed. Spot on with the lume and night readability...it's shite. You can't find the minute hand when its lined up with the hour markers as only the arrow tip is lumed. Forget about seeing the hour marker. It's still by far my favorite to wear. Goes with everything, comfortable and has been through the wringer, yet keeps great time.
Great review for two beautiful watches. I own the 2503.50. Black dial with no horizontal or vertical lines and the hour markers are solid rhodium. Tiny rectangles of luminesence are located at the base of the hour markers which makes the dial difficult to read at night for my old eyes. That said the watch is stunning as are the two you reviewed. You can't go wrong with any generation of Aqua Terra, new or old.
What a Thriller, Wanna be startin something? I'm Bad........ LOL, sorry couldn't resist when u put one that one glove Oisin! Great content as ever by the way.
Lovely watches. I agree with you. I love the green seconds hand, numerals and text as well. Pretty much each difference I prefer the older one. Thank you.
Went to an omega boutique and looked at the aqua terra in blue and white, looked amazing in person. The lines on the dial are not straight but has natural slight degrees of angle to mimic the waves of the ocean as if looking at them in moonlight reflecting the tips of the waves.
Great comparison. Would love to see the 1st generation next to them. In my opinion due to its thinness of 11,5 mm, brushed bracelet and simple black dial it looks even better. Especially previous generation Railmaster is a great Rolex Explorer alternative. Co-axial 2500 is thinner and cheaper to service. However it isn't antimagnetic and only has 45h of power reserve.
If I could afford an AT I would find a Skyfall AT Mid-size. I love the blue dial and the frame on the date window. The date frame helps with the symmetry with the three o'clock date. It also helps in the transition from the blue dial to black date background.
Great to see the AQUA TERRA on the channel! I was drawn to it for quite a while and only recently bought one and I love it. ( the 38mm silver dial ) So that's an interesting point about the bracelet thickness. I Have a feeling they tailored it to the size I bought because it is perfectly in proportion to the thinner watch ( 8800 movement) . But Yes! my god how I hate the crown. He is not exaggerating guys. It is a huge negative to an otherwise almost perfect watch. I really makes winding it and therefore interacting with it extremely unpleasant.
Great review and vs. for old and new. I also love the music, I believe that’s Chopin?.. definitely sounds like him. I do love these Aqua Terra’s, as much as many say Rolex is superior, they wouldn’t have been in competition for so long if Rolex were without a doubt the completely dominant watch. The movements in Omega are superior in my eyes.
Absolutely love this review and the Aqua Terra. I noticed you synched the second hands too! Nice touch! Personally I love the 2011-2017 gen 2 the best. It’s the one I have! I prefer the aesthetics of the vertical “teak deck” with the 3pm date. Plus it wears flatter as you say. As for the movement, the gen 2 is COSC the latest one is METAS. Mine is plus 2 seconds per day so I’m very happy with that. IMO you can’t go wrong with any of them. They really work from beach to boardroom, bar to black tie.
Both great pieces. I'll take the new one. In fact, seriously considering it. If my AD doesn't come through for a watch I'm waiting on...I may go this way.
Hi Oisin. I have the newer AquaTerra in blue dial. The 8900 movement. I definitely agree with you on the awkwardly shaped crown. It’s annoying and impractical! The watch is otherwise almost perfect IMO. I actually like the date at the six o’clock, it gives my OCD nice warm n fuzzy feels. Of course only watch nerds care about these things. In other news, I’m getting the 2022 hesslite speedy tomorrow. I probably won’t sleep tonight! - Ben Foster (not the actor)
Thanks for the honest review. Love your channel, keep up the good work. I totally agree with your review, especially on the lume. Was very disappointed when I saw it in real. Loved every bit of it ... but just couldn't buy it because in total it wasn't "special" enought for me.
Love your reviews!! Having an 8" wrist myself, I like your style and we have similar likes/dislikes. Unfortunately... every time you do a review, I feel like a need a new watch. :)
Great comparison Oisin. In my local AD they offer a blanket 10% discount on all Omegas, except for special edition watches like the 007 seamaster and the Snoopy etc
Wow! What a clip! Thanks for the information and for the pictures! I came across your channel from Chrono24. The Aqua Terra that I'm lusting after is the 2018 model in white with the orange seconds hand. Unfortunately totally out of range. 😃
The older Aqua Terras are great. I had the first gen 39mm co axial black dial. It was very thin - around 11mm from memory, and the black lacquer dial was gorgeous. Unfortunately bracelets let these watches down a lot of the time. I had to wear mine on a leather strap and in the end sold it, as the bracelet wouldn't fit. I'm now after Rolex OP which is overall much more usable. I also prefer solid case backs. Each to their own, and Omega is my favourite brand really, but just a shame they can't slim down the watches and create a Rolex equal in terms of the bracelet ( on the fly micro adjust should be standard these days!)
I prefer the newer one. The crown doesnt bother me if at all. As for the bracelet issue, I feel that the rubber bracelet fits the ethos of these AT's more than the metal one.
Great comparison video. I prefer the newer AT with 8900 and jump hour hand. Love the green dial, but i would go with the versatile and more formal looking black dial. That green second hand on the other looks real sharp, though. . I could change my mind tomorrow :-)
love both and really all ATs out there. I opted for the small seconds last month I just couldn't stop thinking about it normally not a small seconds guy for any watch but the AT small seconds is just so well done IMO
I have the 41 green dial and the 43 world timer, they fit my wrist perfectly, no resising of the bracelets needed. I agree with you in regards to the lume on the hands and the shape of the Crown as well.
Multiple insights here that I hadn’t previously heard or seen, despite handling one recently at the AD. Thank you again Oisin. A very valuable vid to me. 🙏😑
I have the later version, with similar sized wrists to you I found the silver dial looks larger on the wrist, like you anything less than 40mm looks like a child’s watch on me. The AT, however gets far more wear than anything else I own. It’s my true all rounder, I swap from bracelet to Omega five stripe black and grey NATO and the whole vibe of the watch changes.
Excellent, well informed video...Much prefer the even earlier model with the vertical lines and the non symmetrical case. It also has a much nicer shaped side profile. I also prefer it in the 38.5mm model. The early model also has a satin finish on the bracelet. Not a fan of any bracelet that has shiny centre links like the new Omega.
TTWC !!!Dope ass Channel as always. Hope all is well good sir. Ahh Aqua-terra is something to behold. To appreciate its fullness would be only ownership or an owner like yourself expressing the function behind the ingenuity. I do not own Omega...yet. Maybe one day. This is a low-key watch for sure; I couldn't even distinguish the two until you pointed out some things. It was artfully designed for the classical shots in the end. I was signifying shape to resemble each one ha. Peace bredren
I bought the 41mm 8900 movement last year in blue and wear it with the blue rubber bracelet I bought as an extra. It's much more comfortable and I have brand new bracelet in the box for if and when I sell it.
Amazingly thorough review. While I have the Ryder Cup AquaTerra it’s not a real personal favorite cuz of the dial itself. There’s just something about it that doesn’t resonate with me. But the hands on the line are absolutely perfect. Great review
Mine too...I prefer the date window at 3. Just me. I prefer the horizontal pattern over the vertical in the dials. I really dislike the thinner bracelet. I love the green accent and seconds hand... All in all, I definitely prefer the older one.
I think the horizontal lines on the dial of the latest model look far better than the vertical lines on the dial of the older model especially on the white dial.
A lot of subtleties I wouldn't have appreciated, and appreciating the subtleties makes all the difference. Thank you Oisin... 👉⌚🎥👌
He has that artistic obsession.

*Grand Seiko has entered the chat*
What a Thriller, Wanna be startin something? I'm Bad........ LOL, sorry couldn't resist when u put one that one glove Oisin! Great content as ever by the way.
Lovely watches. I agree with you. I love the green seconds hand, numerals and text as well. Pretty much each difference I prefer the older one. Thank you.
I'm a bigger Aqua Terra fan now than I was before watching this review .
Went to an omega boutique and looked at the aqua terra in blue and white, looked amazing in person. The lines on the dial are not straight but has natural slight degrees of angle to mimic the waves of the ocean as if looking at them in moonlight reflecting the tips of the waves.
The skill and beauty of that film and photography is stunning. Fantastic review also 🔥 🔥
Great comparison.
Anybody else jumping on Chrono24 as Oisin talks us through these stunners?
Thanks for another class video.. MJ🕴️
great review/comparison. I've been going back and forth between these as my next purchase and with 7.5" wrist, this was super helpful!
If I could afford an AT I would find a Skyfall AT Mid-size. I love the blue dial and the frame on the date window. The date frame helps with the symmetry with the three o'clock date. It also helps in the transition from the blue dial to black date background.
Very nice video. Thanks for showing these. That is my grail watch.
Love that golf one... Always have.
Great job to enable us to really understand the differences. Just sublime watches, probably the best all-rounder.
I'm in the market for a new Seamaster and it's making me wonder, what will I get first: Omicron or Omega?
Thank you. I have been looking at both of these and you have helped my thought process.
Very interesting, Oisin, again an amazing video pointing out the differences
Like them both.
The contrast of the green hand is quite sharp.
Nice video. Good to see content from you Oisin. I think I like the older one. Not Interested in the small seconds version at all.
One of the best reviews!✌️
Great vlog great watches always a joy to watch thank you. Enjoy
This might be my favorite watch now. I definitely plan on owning one one day.
Both nice. Date window at 6 on the newer model is refreshing. The shorter lug-to-lug is better for my small wrist circumference. Good vid. Keep at it!
I prefer the newer one. The crown doesnt bother me if at all. As for the bracelet issue, I feel that the rubber bracelet fits the ethos of these AT's more than the metal one.
Beautiful subtle green dial.
What I was waiting for....thanks
Great comparison video. I prefer the newer AT with 8900 and jump hour hand. Love the green dial, but i would go with the versatile and more formal looking black dial. That green second hand on the other looks real sharp, though. . I could change my mind tomorrow :-)
I love the different colour of the second hand beautiful green, I just like a different strap then it would do me! Good video Oisin 👍🏻
love both and really all ATs out there.
Thorough review/compassion. I prefer older one too. Really interesting Oisin. Oh and epic production as always!!
Thanks for making this very thorough review video.
Do love your taste in music.
Amazingly thorough review. While I have the Ryder Cup AquaTerra it’s not a real personal favorite cuz of the dial itself. There’s just something about it that doesn’t resonate with me. But the hands on the line are absolutely perfect.
Great review
Yet another’s great vid. I have the terra cal 8602,41.5 mm,white dial with 18k gold indices. Love it I would not swap it for anything. Paid $4100 USD.
Fantastic comparison
