Food prices in Hong Kong are not expensive because mainland China sends a lot of agricultural products in, and what is expensive is mainly store rents. Of course, there's a problem with this because the store rent is already expensive, so the locals have become numb to the prices, and most of the produce imported from mainland China is of higher quality and used to make more money. This leads to a vicious cycle.

Those u found fair priced were either on sales or required bundle sales. But discounts r not a guarantee. The pack of pork under special discount looked stale in dark red colour. Given it is not supposed to be a frozen product, it is expected to be red/pink. The dark red color implied it was stored for a long time in non-frozen temp. Salaries r high only for civil servants, professional or managerial posts. Many grassroots r only talking about survival --living on meagre income. So if one is looking for quality of life but without a deep pocket, hk is not a wise choice.

I am hongkonger living in Canada. It is surprise to heard losing weight in HK😆Maybe you need a local people introduce the good place for grocery shopping.
Local HK people usually buy food in wet market. The food is more fresh and cheap than supermarket. We usually buy drinks , cup noodles and snacks in supermarkets.
Compare to Canadian supermarkets, I think HK price is much cheaper and also without tax.
The price in Hong Kong is twice as high as that in Shanghai.
yes😭
但相对的,工资大约也是上海的两倍😂
Those prices are better than here in new brunswick canada.
There are a lot of indoesian helpers on HK. Tagalogand Indonesian is common here
12:40 This Coke is cheaper than Coke in Poland with our crazy high sugary drinks tax.
Usually all western brands the prices are lot higher. They had to import all those products.
The groceries are a lot cheaper and better offers in HongKong than Australia
Can you buy refrigerated beers in the supermarket?
Intersting video.
How long since you shopped back home? You might be surprised...
But you know, they don’t have to pay VAT TAX and service CHARGES. And their salaries TAX is only 0%-5%
Just across the bay!!
I just looked up the Kraft Single with 16 slices which costs $4.99 where I live so it’s not extreme expensive in HK
Dijon kettle chips is 4.99 CAD pre tax in Toronto :( two bag is (4.99*2)*1.13= 11.27CAD= 67 HKD!
I've seen that in general, meat is more expensive than vegetables and fish in Asia. Whereas, it's the other way around in the US and the west. this has been my observation so far. lived in HK and Nepal in the past. now living in the Uk. I've heard about US prices from people who have lived there
The prices are similar in the state. I always buy on sale or use coupon when I buy my groceries and my everyday items in the States. I avoid buying at regular price it is too expensive.
If you go to Kai Bo supermarket or Ka Hing supermarket, the goods' prices will make you surprised
Nice video
The chips are probably cheaper than they are in the US.
Most name brand chips are like $3.95-$5.00 per bag.
Love and watched your videos from 🇵🇰❤👍
I wanted to watch.
But since when is HK SAR of the PRC, a country?

Remember everything is TAX FREE
The prices don't seem that bad compared to the UK!
Newsflash: Everyone in HK is going shopping across the border in Shenzen.
What makes everything expensive in HK is the RENT price$$$
I’m surprise that everything is more expensive than Toronto! Maybe eating out is slightly cheaper in HK depending on the place….
there are many Chain cheap restaurants called Cafe De Coral / Fairwood that has english/chinese menus on the wall, just point n order, good value food@@JetLagWarriors
Why don't you get the China's tourist visa from HK travel agency while in HK, so you will 60-90 days in China?
why you want them to visit china too much? are you afraid that they will show more dirty hongkong and taiwan???
Don’t eat chocolate especially dark. They contain lead or/and cadmium. You can Google for the brands tested.
Most of these seem like pretty reasonable if not great prices. Where are you living where prices are cheaper than these?
Average after tax income in HK is higher than Canada.
The food prices in Hong Kong is relatively affordable compared to the US.
supermarket is expensive in general, the hotdog you filmed in this video, you can buy it half the price elsewhere. And I found the wellcome you are visiting is slightly more expensive than the one I go to. So yar, shop around.
Looks like you never went to any Chinese supermarket or Chinese restaurant in Markham or Richmond hill, even Missisauga has some good ones, you can find most of the things you saw here.
Chinese Food in Richmond Hill and Chinatown are so so. It's not even close to the quality and taste in Vancouver
Bro thats cheaper than regular Croatian supermarket. Ffs we so expensive
Chips seem to be more expensive and in smaller packages. I guess it is for the health of the citizens.😂
chips price same as in the us
Consumption in Hong Kong is much higher than in Shanghai
Boa noite... Brasil.
Ați fost la concertul lui Dimash din 23.12.2023? ✌️

@@JetLagWarriors
u will be surprised 😅
This is not a good representation of HK supermarkets as this one is essentially a small "cornershop." There are dozens very large ones throughout the city: City Super, Great Food Hall (my favorite), 365, etc. with tremendous choice and products from all 4 corners of the globe.
Oh gosh, so sad to hear that Hong Kong is a place for you both to lose weight. Yeah, it's an expensive country. Well, thanks a bunch for sharing this "Wellcome Supermarket" tour. Cheers, guys !!
Hong Kong is a country !🤣🤣🤣Cognitive dissonance!
just a normal city of China
When was the last time you grocery shopped in Canada? The price comparison actually seems comparable if not cheaper in HK than Canada. Prices have skyrocketed. Also, you're comparing imported brands where it's made in North America and shipped overseas so it's more expensive there.
Come on man.
HKD vs CAD or USD.
For sure cheap for you!
well, in Canada family sized lays chips cost avg USD2 vs. HK at USD2.8.
1L Olive oil in Canada is 9USD vs. HK at 22USD.
Eggs cost USD2 vs. HK at 2.8USD
I find groceries in HK more expensive than Canada.
