Tangerine Dream Top 10 - #1 Tangram (piano version)

- Tangram (1980)
As may not come entirely as a surprise, Tangram, the first album featuring the trio Franke, Froese and Schmoelling, is my personal favourite.
Strangely enough, this masterpiece is hardly mentioned in Edgar’s autobiography. Wikipedia says the following: “At a turning point between two eras, Tangram contains fond glimpses back at the "classic long-form sequencer" period and also contains foreshadows of the "new age melodic short track" period to come.”
Tangram is a perfect blend of everything that makes TD unique: evocative rhythms and sequences, skilfully crafted ornaments and improvisations. While the whole album is a true piece of art, no other composition by Tangerine Dream has affected me emotionally like the first few minutes of Set 2, before the sequencers kick in.
Thanks a lot for joining me on this journey. See you again soon.

Thank you so much, this was a phantastic journey!
Always a pleasure hearing you play 🎹🎶❤
Wow, what a performance! Thanks for all your efforts putting these together and sharing. It’s been a fun 2 weeks seeing these unfold! I’ve got to get practicing!😂
Yeah those strings on Tangram pt 2 always got me... really lovely piano playing!
Beautifully played Marcus, as always. I've been listening to Tangram Set 2 today and I noticed something new that I never noticed in all the 36 years since I first bought the album! I happened to be playing along on electric piano with the album and I discovered that the final section of Set 2, from 18:37 to the end, is actually tuned slightly higher than the earlier parts of the piece! I never noticed this before, and would never have noticed it had I not been playing along with the whole Set from start to finish! Check it out yourselves! One of the great things about Tangerine Dream music is that there are many minute details to do with the music itself that only come to light, years and even decades after first hearing their great music! 😀
Thanks Conrad. No, I haven't noticed the different tuning you mentioned. I have always found the ending of set 2 to be a bit strange, like it doesn't really belong in that piece.
Interesting choice. Excellent playing though!
wow du spelar bäst mvh Matti norberg
