న తస్య ప్రతిమా నాస్తి’ - భగవంతునికి ప్రతిమ లేదు’. దీనిని అందిపుచ్చుకొని కొంతమంది ప్రతిమ అంటే విగ్రహం అని, భగవంతునికి విగ్రహారాధన లేదు అని హిందూధర్మంలో చెప్పబడింది. విగ్రహారాధన మధ్యలో తెచ్చిపెట్టారు అంటారు. వెంటనే కొంతమంది మంచి వాళ్ళు కూడా సరిగ్గా ఆలోచించకుండా పరిశోధించకుండా విగ్రహారాధన మధ్యలో వచ్చింది అని వ్రాస్తున్నారు. భగవంతుడిని ఆరాధించే పధ్ధతి, విగ్రహ పధ్ధతి వేదమూలంగానే వచ్చింది తప్ప వేదాలలో లేనిది కాదు. వేదమూలాన్ని అందిపుచ్చుకొని ఆగమాలు విగ్రహ కల్పన చేశాయి. విగ్రహమునందు ఆరాధించడం కేవలం ఒక నమ్మకం కాదు. ‘న తస్య ప్రతిమా నాస్తి’ - భగవంతునికి ప్రతిమ లేదు’ అని కాదు. తరువాతి వాక్యం చూడాలి. తరువాతి వాక్యం ఏం చెప్తున్నారు అంటే ‘సమము, అధికము ఆయనకు లేవు’. ప్రతిమ అంటే సమానము. వాటికి ప్రతి లేదండీ అంటారు. ‘ప్రతి’ - సమానము, సరియైనది, సాతియైనది అని అర్థం. న తస్య ప్రతిమా నాస్తి’ అంటే ఆయనతో సమానమైనది లేదు అని చెప్పడం తప్ప ఆయనకు విగ్రహం లేదు అని చెప్పడం కాదు. విగ్రహాలుగా భగవంతుడు తనను తాను వ్యక్తం చేసుకున్నటువంటి చోట్లున్నాయి. క్షేత్రాలలో భగవంతుడు కంటికి గోచరించని దివ్య తేజో రూపంలో ఉంటాడు. కనబడితేనే కానీ మనకు భగవద్భావం కలుగదు గనుక ఆ క్షేత్రాలలో మహర్షులు తరువాతి కాలాలలో దివ్యమైన విగ్రహాన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. కొన్ని క్షేత్రాలలో భగవంతుడే విగ్రహ రూపంలో తనను తాను వ్యక్తపరచుకున్నాడు. తిరుమల వేంకటేశ్వరుడు మొదలైన స్వరూపాలు. ఇవి మానవ నిర్మితలు కావు. కేవల నమ్మకం కాకుండా పరిశీలన చేస్తే తెలుస్తుంది. వృక్ష రూపంలోనూ, పర్వత రూపంలోనూ భగవంతుడిని ఆరాధించడం కనబడుతుంది. తులసి మొక్కను విష్ణు స్వరూపం గానూ, మారేడు శివ స్వరూపంగానూ, అశ్వత్థమును త్రిమూర్త్యాత్మక దేవతగా ఉపాసిస్తున్నాం. వాటిలో ఒకానొక దివ్యత్వం ఉంది. దానిని ఋషులు గ్రహించారు. అందివచ్చేలా ఆరాధనాపద్ధతిని ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. ప్రతిష్ఠ చేసే విగ్రహాలు కేవలం నమ్మకాలు కావు. భారతీయుల విగ్రహారాధన వెనుక విజ్ఞానమున్నది. విగ్రహంలో భగవచ్ఛక్తిని విశేషంగా గ్రహించి విగ్రహంగా ఆరాదిస్తున్నాం..
Ramana Maharshi used to do giri pradakshina. This is a form of idol worship in my opinion. A person truly living as per vedas shouldn't use cars or flights or ACs as this causes damage to the environment.

But if we worship an idol by saying it is not part of the god then it is wrong. the mantra sastra and agama sastra during praprathista says that o infinite one without form please come in this form and bless us. This way idol becomes deity in hinduism or sanatana dharma.Deity worship is correct because we are requesting the infinite one to appear in the form.

Sir, with all due respect, I have a question - emotion is a part of mind, mind is created by God, so emotion is a part of God's creation, Satchit"ananda" is also adjectivized with Emotion... Why do you think Bhagavan Ramana couldnt have got emotionalized with the old lady's words?.. even God gets emotional, only then one of the most powerful paths to reach him was set forth- Bhakthi Yoga.. by Lord Krishna... Your ideals are not digestible for the majority of population... Shankaracharya and Sri Ramakrishna were "doctors" giving relevant prescriptions to the " conditioned" people... It's a pity to hear God is an emotionless entity ... It CANNOT BE.. Emotion IS him... Just that it's directed to material things by all of us... Once you channelize it back to HIM, that emotion can get you to HIM... Please don't downplay Bhakti Yoga... It doesn't help masses... It's one of most powerful paths which comes only through HIS grace..

I don't understand Telugu but the title presumes that idol worship is wrong & questioning whether Ramana, Shankara or Vivekananda knew that idol worship is wrong. If idol worship is wrong then any form of worship is wrong because in both cases one is eventually worshiping one's imagination. Spiritual evolution is eventually going beyond worship & realizing the Truth or Divinity within oneself.
Dear sir per your saying and per scince if srushti roju or rathri to be there there has to be bhramana paribhramanalu of universe with some other object like sun and earth. Is this so?
I brought this paragraph from Ramana periya puranam, which is written by V. Ganesan for your clarification. Bhagavan once said, “I’m afraid of two people - Ramanatha Brahmachari and Mudaliar Paati.” What is this fear? It is not really fear; Bhagavan was a slave to selfless service, total surrender and unlimited devotion. These two people came under that category. There are many instances in Mudaliar Paati’s life that display her deep devotion. Even after Bhagavan came down to the present Ramanasramam, she insisted on serving food to Bhagavan with her own hand. She had become half blind due to old age. One day, when serving Bhagavan’s food, she stepped on the leaf on which his food was served. An attendant standing close by scolded her, “Hey! You have such poor eyesight, why do you come? When you cannot see Bhagavan, why do you come and disturb everyone?” Mudaliar Paati replied, “How does it matter if I can’t see him? Bhagavan sees me; his grace is on me, that is enough.”
Sir, in my opinion Hinduism is being misunderstood by many people around us including Hindus themselves! We don’t need deep knowledge of it because so many uneducated people r there in our Hindus also! I feel it’s a way of life! How to lead life in a systematic and disciplined way, with a connection with nature’s all five elements! For this way of life if you’re a master or guru you have the power and knowledge to tap the ultimate without any idol worship by meditation etc! But what about a common Hindu? If he has an idol or a picture frame of god and is trying to do Pooja to it , sincerely and with devotion , even that ten minute Pooja will be fruitful, if he works later on for his livelihood ten hours with dedication and also if the guy has empathy towards all the living creations on this earth! Compassion in itself is pooja, I feel! Whoever has it is doing a form of Pooja all the time!
Agree with you sister. Idol worship is deep and is not limited to idols. People who worship sun, trees, earth, water etc., are also idol worshippers. It is worship of God through idols. If it works it works whether it's in vedas or not.

కలయతి సంఖ్యాతి సర్వాన్ పదార్థాన్ స కాలః. జగత్తులోని పదార్థాలను, జీవులను లెక్కించును కావున ఈశ్వరునికి కాలము అని పేరు. దీని మూలముగానే ఈశ్వరుడు వేదములో మోక్షము గురించి వివరించాడు. కావున జీవుల సంఖ్య మనకి తెలియకపోవచ్చు కాని పరమాత్ముడికి తెలుసు.

that display her deep devotion. Even after Bhagavan came down to the present Ramanasramam, she
insisted on serving food to Bhagavan with her own hand. She had become half blind due to old age.
One day, when serving Bhagavan’s food, she stepped on the leaf on which his food was served. An
attendant standing close by scolded her, “Hey! You have such poor eyesight, why do you come? When
you cannot see Bhagavan, why do you come and disturb everyone?” Mudaliar Paati replied, “How does
it matter if I can’t see him? Bhagavan sees me; his grace is on me, that is enough.”

Sir, in my opinion Hinduism is being misunderstood by many people around us including Hindus themselves! We don’t need deep knowledge of it because so many uneducated people r there in our Hindus also! I feel it’s a way of life! How to lead life in a systematic and disciplined way, with a connection with nature’s all five elements! For this way of life if you’re a master or guru you have the power and knowledge to tap the ultimate without any idol worship by meditation etc! But what about a common Hindu? If he has an idol or a picture frame of god and is trying to do Pooja to it , sincerely and with devotion , even that ten minute Pooja will be fruitful, if he works later on for his livelihood ten hours with dedication and also if the guy has empathy towards all the living creations on this earth! Compassion in itself is pooja, I feel! Whoever has it is doing a form of Pooja all the time!
Agree with you sister. Idol worship is deep and is not limited to idols. People who worship sun, trees, earth, water etc., are also idol worshippers. It is worship of God through idols. If it works it works whether it's in vedas or not.

కలయతి సంఖ్యాతి సర్వాన్ పదార్థాన్ స కాలః. జగత్తులోని పదార్థాలను, జీవులను లెక్కించును కావున ఈశ్వరునికి కాలము అని పేరు. దీని మూలముగానే ఈశ్వరుడు వేదములో మోక్షము గురించి వివరించాడు. కావున జీవుల సంఖ్య మనకి తెలియకపోవచ్చు కాని పరమాత్ముడికి తెలుసు.
