When I saw the title, I expected it to be more like a lightsaber (lightsabers retract automatically either when the ignition button is pushed off, or if it leaves a user's hand completely, assuming they didn't lock the ignition or use the force to keep it on). But it is interesting to see that Energon is necessary to make these weapons glow (and most likely more lethal).
