3:02: "The vertical axis wind turbine is more efficient than horizontal axis wind turbines..." No, it's just the opposite: Vertical axis wind turbines are less efficient than horizontal axis wind turbines, because the half of the rotor blades have to move against the wind.
Vertical are generally less effiicient but that's no reason to ignore them. The Darrieus uses both halves to generate at the same time. For my home use they are less noisy, don't have to be mounted as high and have less maintenance.
@@christophergeerdts8460 I doubt, whether you can really generalize "less noisy" and "less maintenance". However, "less efficient" is an important reason why they aren't in use in big scale electricity production.
@@701983 true. The context of the original video here seems to be smaller scale. My context is domestic. "Less noisy" is possible, but not guaranteed, due to the blades not turning as fast relative to the wind as with horizontals. "Less maintenance" is because you have the generator near to the ground and stationery. My own use case is a small home turbine, mounted low down (which is gusty) so the neighbours don't complain about seeing it. It must be low noise as well.

I need to know which one will work best on a 40’ power boat that will help take me further off the grid in 100 MPH.
Can you power an entire home using a wind turbine, without batteries? Balancing between wind and line power.

but the horizontal wind turbines need more maintenance and have a much shorter service life.
