      The analogy for views would be different physical catalogues with the cabinets, folders ,tasks organized and grouped differently in each catalogue for quick reference on how to find each item and maybe key details.

    World-class ADHDer here! I leave a wake of discarded PM systems behind me. I decided to kick tires on ClickUp because of all the potentially helpful functions (*estimate vs real-time & dependencies*). Because ClickUp has SOOO many features I would have been completely overwhelmed and ditched it like the rest - - - BUT I found your video 'Your First Hour' before I even created my account. AND I'M HOOKED. You're now my ClickUp Master.

    Also, an analogy you can use for the view function is watching movies. You can view them in a theater or on a TV or on a tablet or phone.

    I have been looking for a video that properly explained ClickUp to a complete click novice like me for ages, and most of them start too far up the ladder, I must say you have cracked it, one of the hardest thing to understand from the start is a simple way of how to integrate it into your daily life, your video is excellent at achieving this. the only other thing that helped is that I installed one of click ups folder templates, (the on one vacation planning), and in an instance I could see how to go about planning. Your videos are amazing, I will be watching the whole of this playlist. Thank you.

    This has been very helpful in getting me up and running. I had my work as a space and then my clients as another space, which I did not understand before I watched your tutorial. Now I have moved my client folders into the work space. The generic tasks I need to complete for each client are being copied to client folders and then customised as required. Each task is date driven, so if I need to see where I am, I can view the Gantt chart and use it to even out the scheduling of my work. Thanks again for an excellent presentation!!

      This tutorial _does_ contain a lot of quality information for users new to ClickUp. The fact that Layla speaks at 100 mph and never seem to take a breath, however, is likely the main reason this video hasn't racked up more views. Slow the playback down to 0.75 speed and you'll get a lot more out of it.

    Analogy for views: imagine your tasks are like post it notes. Calendar view is like putting each post it note on a big calendar. Kanban view is like putting each post it note on a Kanban board, sorted by status.
    A list view sorts all the post it notes in that list (aka folder), a space view sorts all the notes in the space (aka cabinet).

    Superlative Explanation and as great as it is it's a mindful no matter how well you strive to simplify and you do a great job. I love your detours to simplicity when you could have taken a fork in the road to complexity. This video is a service to those seeking a fundamental overview of the ClickUp Hierarchy. It really makes me feel that there are 2 kinds of people. Architects and people who live & work in the "Spaces" they create. This video is where it starts and one viewing isn't adequate. A+

    • @LaylaPomper
      @LaylaPomper  3 года назад

      I love the connection you made to architects vs ?builders? - I really hope this video speaks to that latter group! Really appreciate your kind words. ☺️

    • @GarfieldStinvil
      @GarfieldStinvil 3 года назад

      @@LaylaPomper You are generous to add "Builders" to address the "Team" aspect of a ClickUp Organization which your video is geared towards. I went straight to consumers/clients/customers as I have yet to establish a Team in the non-digital world :-). You are right to point out what I overlooked. And yet I wonder about these builders and how much of an Architect they need to be to effectively build. ClickUp demands more from anyone who enters their labyrinth. (I edited my original to add the phrase "live & work in" to address your builder analogy).
      An excellent primer and ClickUp's Complexity has drawn out the best in your passion to translate what is amazing about the possibility of ClickUp. You have contributed to making the project management tool more accessible than most and your earnestness is both heartfelt & creatively expressed. ClickUp is lucky to have you as a committed advocate who looks beyond their annoying limitations in process workflow. Whether Microsoft Teams, Trello, or ClickUp there are no lack of updates to be on top of to make the most what is possible in the Project Management Landscape. :-)

I loved the real-world example of cleaning a house because I could relate to this example. Some of the other videos talked about tasks that I could not relate to and it made it harder to understand how to make this software work for me. I liked that you started with lists and moved up the hierarchy instead of starting with spaces and moving down. Somehow this really helped me to better understand how to organize stuff. Hey Layla! It looks like ClickUp will do what I need, but I want to make sure before moving forward. I’m looking for a program to propose to my home building company that would be a one stop place for buyers to:
    1. Check on the progress of the home (milestones that the construction manager marks as in progress or complete)
    2. View weekly updates on their home.
    3. Check dates for on site meetings
    4. Communicate with sales and the builder.
    5. View a list of FAQs
    I want it to be very simple and easy for the buyer. Any way you can verify if ClickUp can do these things?

      Hey Maria! We do this at ProcessDriven using the Time Estimate app. For each Task we have an estimated time and that is the time budgeted for the task. Then the team tracks their time on each task with the Time Tracking app.
      I hope this helps!

    What helped YOU finally make sense of the ClickUp Hierarchy?
    If you enjoyed this "mini tutorial" and would like to learn more about the ClickUp hierarchy you can find my full "getting started" mini course for ClickUp members (who aren't necessarily Admins worried about all THOSE features quite yet) by going to ➡️ processdriven.co/services/mini/

    The analogy for views would be different physical catalogues with the cabinets, folders ,tasks organized and grouped differently in each catalogue for quick reference on how to find each item and maybe key details.

    I agree with others that this clarifies Click-Up's hierarchy, but in a way, it also tends to "force" you into a narrow way of using Click Up. It makes you tend to believe that you must organize things in lists, which isn't necessarily true. A good example is that while we have "file cabinets = Space" and those file cabinets can have folders with lists, you might also have a "file cabinet" that contains nothing more that reference material (perhaps folders, but no lists or tasks, for instance). A practical example of this might be documentation of office procedures, or manuals of various machines, or simply a collection of important documents that have been scanned and audited. None of these require a list or a "status" (though they might have at one point BEEN the deliverable of a list).

    Great video Layla. I started last night. I've made some spaces with lists and now the only thing that I want in view is the Mind Map. Can I delete the other views (Boards etc) and leave just the Mind Map? There are two Mind Maps on my list, can I delete one? Can you do a video just on MInd Maps? I want to learn how to do the one that is customizable as some tasks will be far more complicated than others. Is there spellcheck on ClickUp? Thanks, Dan

    To integrate ClickUp API and create app, does premium package is required? Official documentation of clickup is confusing, it would be great if can guide a little bit

    • @LaylaPomper
      @LaylaPomper  2 года назад

      Hey Sami! Just getting caught up on comments🙈
      To use ClickUp API, there is no premium plan required. ClickUp API is available to all plans.
      However, there are Rate limits by Workspace Plan. (Rate limits work by setting a cap on how many times a user can make a request within a certain amount of time)
      Here are the ClickUp API rates:
      Free Forever, Unlimited, and Business Plan: 100 requests per minute per token.
      Business Plus Plan: 1,000 requests per minute per token.
      Enterprise Plan: 10,000 requests per minute per token.
      Here's a page that may provide more helpful information: clickup.com/api/
