holy smokes, this vid is sick. I recently sprained my ankle from rollerblading and twisting it around the vertical axis, I'm gonna work to make my ankles invincible B)
Hey see a physical therapist. Seriously. Seriously. They’ll teach u what exercices to do. I used to have weak ankles too guaranteed worse than yours. This is what helpedeven helped me get off the custom orthotics
“I dare you to do 15 of these and not feel sore tomorrow.” Mate, I did 3 reps of a hamstring exercise you recommended beginners do 8 reps of and my legs are still dead 2 days later.
That's great. Delayed muscle soreness (DOMS) is usually around 48 hours of soreness. But it's also a sign you are strengthening your muscles. Of course if it's too sore you may have injured yourself, especially if it's on one side, but if not, don't stop. Soon the soreness will go away and you will see how much easier the same exercises.
“Dancer are gonna cringe” I’m a dancer who is scrolling and sewing pointe shoes at the same time… I was like: oh ankle stuff , that could be good for me. Then my mind immediately changed into a lecture my ballet teacher gave us about sicklying your feet… 😭😭😭this has been a roller coaster of emotions
As a dancer, I actually agree that it's necessary to strengthen that part of the foot, I've always practiced this outside of dance, and I think it's necessary to, so when you inevitably fall out into that position (at some point), your feet and ankles can handle it.
@@sewmebxtch6295because sickled ankles are not good, especially in ballet, it looks untidy and not graceful you are also prone to more ankle injuries eg. Breaking your ankles while doing pointe work
When I worked retail I had a habit of standing on the sides of my feet to give the balls of my toes a break. I haven't rolled my ankle in years, and I was a serial roller as a kid.
RUclips is finally helpful. After pne sprain, i started getting them every couple months. Finally I can start building up strength after 4 years of repeated sprains Thank you for doing this and thank the algorithm for recommending it to me
Turns out my ankles are pretty strong. These were pretty easy to do for me. Last time I did sprain an ankle was when I was like 12? I remember being out with my cousins, tripping and my ankle hurting like crazy, I kept running on it though and by the end of the day it was all purple😂😂

Excellent video! So important for all, especially older people to keep from falling. Once they fall, things go bad quickly. Just discovered how weak my left side of shin is! Thanks!
I love that you share these short little moves we can do to have a better quality of life just from using pomodoro breaks or waiting for the microwave or whatever in our life instead of asking me to do more at a gym
I naturally do all of these stretches and motions with my feet since childhood. I had my ankles looked at by a kinesiologist at age 15 and was told I have crazy strong and flexible ankles.
I recently had an awful ankle injury and had to limit activity in my sport for a few months. Will definitely be useing these exercises to get stronger and decrease the likelihood of another injury! Thanks for making amazing content like this!! 💚

I severely injured my ankle A WHOLE YEAR AGO and it's still uncomfortable, watching you do these things raises every alarm in my head... Guess I'm going to *very* carefully try? Probably seated at first until i rebuild the trust in my ankle x.x
This is very helpful! I tore a ligament in my ankle at the start of last year and I’m still constantly worried about it, especially getting back into running and exercise now. I thought a good idea would be to strengthen my ankles so thank you!
I've never been in need to follow your advice. But, even so, since I've taken some of your advice life got better. Thank you and I'm trying to STAY FLEXY
I was in a really bad car accident and had screws put into my ankle. I love seeing videos like this because these are the types of movements I had to do for physical therapy to get me walking again. Thank you so much for sharing❤
Holy fuck. This was my secret reason for not having foot pain anymore??? For some context I have flat feet, usually noting a decent insole couldn't fix but through middle and high school even if I was barely standing I would get incredible foot pain radiating up through the shin and sometimes knees, debilitating to the point that if i had a migraine at the same time I would just sit in a dark room and cry. When I got my first job I knew I would be on my feet more so obviously I worked up to standing for 8 hours a day but while at my job I would stand on the sides of my ankles and roll them and rotate between standing on my heels and toes and now 6 or so years into the industry pulling 12 hour days with little problem most of the time.
I started jump rope a month ago 3 mins a day now doing 5-10 mins a day. I missed a step on stairs and rolled my ankles days ago but stood up like nothing happened.
Ballet dancer here, I actually love you because for more than 20 years of my life I've been doing the same (plus some more) ankle exercises! They're fundamental for healthy on pointe habits
This you'll be intrigued by then... A girl broke her ankle at my dancing once.... doing a 'step turn step'. Not a pirouette, not a roll, not a turning leap... a simple step turn step that you do from like age 6.
As a contemporary dancer this is great! Body flexibility and strength are essential for everyone, but when you’re going from jumping to laying on the floor quickly, it’s lovely to not have to worry about dislocating/tearing something. Every body deserve love and respect. Especially yours, because it’s you and you’re awesome
This is actually extremely difficult for me because I have a coalition of bones in both feet that prevents me from having a normal, full range of motion.
Omg 🤭 those foot rockers you mentioned!! I would do them all the time when I’m bored at work standing up or if I’m in an awkward situation. I BEEN STRENGTHENING IT WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING!! LETS GOOO
I've done ankle rockers since I was a kid. I even stand while on the sides if my feet when waiting in long lines. It feels comfortable though I sometimes see ppl staring at my feet.
I hike weekly up in the woods and just about every hike I'll end up rolling my ankles somewhere along the trail. Bring able to walk it off with just a brief "oops, ouch" is great.
I dont know why I use to do footrockers just for fun when I was bored ill be stood in line and ill just be doing it so apparently I got quite good at them Now that I think about i roll my feet alot and most of the time It didn't hurt that bad huh just realised I've been training my ankles without notising
I feel like I've always had unbreakable ankles. I've rolled my ankles so many times and never hurt once. My left ankle was extra flexible. When I was younger I was able to twist my left foot nearly one round. I can still point it back and walk but I'm not as flexible as I used to be so it's difficult but not sore to force it a little more than half around
Thanks so much. I wakeskate, and lately as I'm trying different tricks, I'm finding my ankles bend in bad ways when I'm still figuring out the landings. And with this I can at least reduce some of the risks and keep progression up
You are the goat for this information. Thank you. My ankle has been weak since 2018 when I rolled it terribly and popped it out. I never went and got it popped back in it. Kind of just healed broken. Last summer I was trying on some heels and went to take a step and rolled that same ankle. It popped back into place but it’s feeling even weaker ever since I can’t wait to try these.
watching after a rolled ankle, Im so glad I found this channel and did some ankle work, ankle is still sore, but most likely WAY less serious then what it would have been
I was super fidgety as a kid and constantly rocked my heals side to side. I've rolled my ankle in 4 inch wedges and walked away fine.
i was gonna say the same exact thing
Wow! That's like a super power!
Oh hey same! I wear platforms that end up being 6 inches at the heel and I roll my ankles all the time and I’ve never had them hurt more than a minute
I can relate! I still am kinda fidgety lol but yeah I’ve rolled my ankle multiple times in heels and was perfectly fine, I didn’t know that was supposed to hurt lol
I do that all the time in 3in heels
