Wild Koalas in their Natural Habitat: Raymond Island

Located in the Gippsland lakes, Raymond Island is a perfect day trip from Melbourne...and it's FREE! We parked in Paynesville and got the free ferry across before spending a couple of hours exploring the nature walks.
Koalas were introduced to the island in 1953, and there's now over 200 of them so you're almost guaranteed to see some on your trip. As well as koalas we also saw pelicans, parrots, kookaburra and kangaroos.
