I’m as excited as you are Nick love how I can depend on you for keeping up with the blue jays good stuff man hopefully more good news to come take care
@@shaneturner1809 Remember....his agent is Scott Boras....who also just so happens to be the agent for Alonzo AND Bregman. Personally I'd say that Scherzer probably wouldn't have signed with the Jays unless he knows something.....hmmmm...... Also, from all accounts he's fully recovered from the injury and has looked fantastic while working out for various teams including the Jays. It's well worth the risk to get a future first ballot hall of famer in the dugout and hopefully he can stay healthy. Remember...Rogers has some of the deepest pockets in all of baseball....now lock up Vladdy.
Max will be solid addition to the team. He brings a résumé of championship, pedigree and a wealth of experience, and he will certainly make our younger starters that much better. I still think he has a lot left on look at Justin Verlander, for God sake will pass his 40s and still pitching like a pro
Max could move up a few ranks on the all-time most winnest pitcher list to #77, #78 or #79. I really like the veteran pitcher in the Jays organization. I can see him in the fifth spot in the rotation, as well as an efficient long reliever out of the bullpen. With his experience, he's really going to help a lot of pitchers next year. This is an excellent signing for the Toronto Blue Jays, and I think he will give it his all.
After all the gaslighting from Davidi and Nickelson- Smith that went on , great for you Nick to be able to report this signing ! I hope he can be good for us and not get injured early on. I do really want to watch this guy. Man you are excited !!
As much as Max Scherzer was a great pitcher, the key word is "was" here. He's 40 years old. He has injury issues. Atkins is taking a big gamble that he stays healthy and is at least 4th starter effective. He was always going to have to take risks, but this one has a lot of potential to blow up in his face without a whole lot of reward. Again, this is a better version of Justin Turner. This would have been a lot more exciting 2-3 years ago than it is now.
I liken it to the jack morris signing. ....that worked out good for the jays... fingers crossed. ....let's go sign BREGGY bomb now. .. and one more relief pitcher ,sign VLADDY AND we are set .... GO JAYS
Come on let's face it max best before date has passed. He has been injured most of the last 2 seasons. On a positive note his experience is top notch. If he was still a quality pitcher he would not becoming to the jays. This is the jays front office trying to keep a few fans in the seats after a dismal off season. After the first 4 in the lineup the rest of the lineup will be fighting for playing time.
A lot of what ifs but if it works will be fine . If Francis can build off last year , if bassit can rebound from a mediocre year and get back to himself . Gausman and berrios need to be good as usual . If max can come in and through 15-20 games with a .350-400 ERA and provide so many intangibles with the young pitchers and everyone then that is going to suit well for the jays.
Good signing but honestly, what are we expecting from a 41 year old pitcher?? This isn’t the 2015 Sherzer. I would be happy with 15 starts, and a 4 era.
Scherzer will be 41 years old in July and was 2-4 in 9 starts last year. He wouldn't make the starting rotation in any team with aspirations of making the postseason.
With him and gausman and bassit this is a very old rotation. Hopefully bassit gets back to being a solid pitcher , gausman too have a good year as well berrios to continue to get better. If max can pitch decent and Francis can build off a good year last year then we will be okay. We need to get another impact bat.
Good signing but let’s make this clear . They need to get at least one more impact bat either Alonso ( preferably) or Bregman. If they do they will be a wild card team for sure . If they won’t I don’t think they make playoffs

As long as he’s healthy, if we make the playoffs, that’s what will matter the most cause. He is a really great picture. I’ll take him at 40 rather than some scrub.

I don't mean to be negative during a time when I should be excited - and don't get me wrong, I WANT to be excited about this signing - but man, do I ever have A LOT of concerns about this deal, even though it's only a one-year deal. The thing that scares me the most is the series of injuries (TEN in total) that have plagued him over the past 4 seasons. He just came off another injury-plagued season where his playing time was severely reduced, and added to that, he'll be turning 41 this July. I hope he somehow manages to stay relatively healthy this season, but if his body gives out again like it did last year, at $15.5 million, he will become the most expensive mascot the Jays have ever paid. Especially if he is hurt during the playoffs. However, if we somehow manage to get 150+ innings out of him, with an ERA around 3.00-ish, I can see this being a decent one-year deal, but if his body gives out, this will become one of the worst signings in recent team history. Come on, Max! Prove my concerns wrong! PLEASE!!! 🙏 Also, I'm not sure only one year of Max Scherzer is enough to convince Pete Alonso to sign with the Jays. Nor do I think it's enough for him to overcome wanting to stay in New York (which he has stated he'd rather do, even though he has shown interest in Toronto); not enough for him to overcome NOT playing with Juan Soto everyday; not enough for him to overcome coming to an organization that has not signed Vladdy yet; not enough for him to overcome the instability of a head office that may not even be here by the end of the year; not enough for him to overcome uprooting his life and moving to a new city with a higher tax rate, etc. I doubt only one year of Scherzer is enough to overcome all those things, but I sure hope I eat crow and he signs here! 🙏 Not likely, but not impossible. To me, the ONLY thing that can force Alonso's hand to come here is if we offer him significantly more money than the Mets to steal him from them. The Jays NEED to step up and get Alonso, who has been a better pure run producer than Ohtani over his 6-year career (look up the stats). They CANNOT let a run producer like that slip through their fingers. And yes: SIGN VLADDY. Sign Vladdy and Alonso, and go stomp some A.L. East and Dodgers ass.

EXCITED NICK!! Things looking great for this team!!
That one hater who wants nick to slow down is in shambles rn
You know someone is super intelligent when they start calling people hater lol
The Jays came so close of signing Verlander. We could’ve had two former Detroit Tigers reunited
You know someone is intelligent when they spend their day harassing young and highly motivated people trying to make their dreams come true😂
@ Right?
Since his buddy left he's getting better and slower . Good job nick
Happy for you Blue Jays fans. You light up on each signing. Good for you! Maybe you'll get Alonso.
We will get Alonso
1. Francis
2. Gauseman
3. Barrios
4. Scherzer
5. Bassit
I’m happy that Nick is happy. Mad Max to the jays!
I am actually shocked
I thought Scherzer is only coming if we got another big bat.
Think Scherzer knows something?….
@@NickArcieri That might be realistic. Buddies with Alonso.....

Wow. Didn’t think they’d pull this one off.
nobody else was dumb enough to sign him
@Deke1 no risk on 1 year deals.
@Deke1 - why is it dumb? No different than Verlander, Morton or even the Alex Cobb signings. All around the same range.

Like your channel. I don't want to poo poo Max's signing, hoping he's the same Max 🙏
I think the important point is Sherzer won't need to be our ace, as a fourth or fifth starter he will be awesome
Maybe that entices The Polar Bear 🐻❄️ to come up to the Great White North !!! Go Jays !
Last year back and shoulder injuries, over 40 years of age, era of 3.95. Get excited??? Jay PR is working overtime.

10 years ago this would be huge news. The problem is, Max Scherzer is now 40 years old! Give me a break.
Good stuff Nick as always Brother ! Where does Scherzer fit into the rotation ?
Hopefully he doesn't get injured
I would try and use him in bullpen if he wouldn't mind doing it
Sign vlad and Bo asap or trade if they don’t sign

Big trade, Bregman or Alonzo and lefty reliever and that’s playoffs I think.
I know. I know. He’s 40. He hasn’t pitched that much recently but he’s Matt Scherzer!!!
Awesome we needed him bad 🎉
NOW GET PAT ALONSO AND TRADE FOR DOUG FRY
