- A Charlie Brown Christmas is repeated (but only for the 10th time), the Hail Mary NFL play, a look back at the year 1975 and much more. That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh, we like it.

Raise your hand if you still look forward to watching "A Charlie Brown Christmas" every year. Brings back great memories of Christmas time growing up and some of the best christmas music of all time with the great Vince Guaraldi.
But, I miss the Dolly Madison commercials that was originally shown!
✋
I can't watch it anymore. You have to pay to see it on Paramount Plus 😢.
I’ve been watching it every Christmas season since it first aired.
✋
I feel bad for anyone that did not live in this era. These were great times.
Like most generations, The were the best of times and the worst of times.🤔
Being a kid in the 70s to the 90s was GREAT. The worst of times is NOW.
Hindsight commonly wears a pair of rosy glasses. However, if ones focus is just on say, the economy,
It has truly spiraled out of control and pushes kids today into an enormous amount of stress, which was not so prevalent in the past.🤔 Which of course begs the question of us that came before,
WHY?
Remember when the TV was living room furniture?
And free.
Yep, a big wooden console with two speakers, a turntable, stereo tuner and an 8-track under a lid on top.
I'm so glad I grew up in the 70s!!! 🇺🇸
Me too
IM SUPER GLAD
We may be old,but we had the greatest bands and the best music!
For sure!
Back then pop and rock music had great melodies.
Then Disco came along 2 years later & pissed it all away...😡
At least new wave was on the way@luisreyes1963
Absolutely !! Not to mention the best schools toys Parents….etc..✌️🇺🇸
@@luisreyes1963I beg to differ, I loved Disco and dancing to Disco music
Im 66, never thought I'd miss the 70s.....
The 70s were a utopia compared to today
I wanna go back.
Amen America was so different back then
Pick me up if you have room.
🎶 ...and do it all over. .🎵 but I can't go back I know...🎶 RIP Eddie Money
@@dh6035He was good. I saw him in Acker Gym at Chico State in 1984
Yes, me too! Take me a long!
I am 66 and graduated in 1975. Like many of you on this thread, I miss those days so much. They were so magical to me, that sometimes I feel as if it was just a dream. I’ll grab one of the many memories I have of the 70s, and I can immerse myself back to that moment as if I’m almost there. It’s like another dimension that was’nt real.Thank you for those precious times Lord. And all of those wonderful people you placed in my life who are now gone. This present time is a struggle. As I look forward to my eternal home, it must be like the 70s 100 fold!

I miss the good old days when people love America
Me too, Don!
July 4th 1976 one of my fondest memories everyone seemed so happy and patriotic
I was 12 in 75 . It was a good time to be a kid
Same. Phoenix, Az.
Same I was 10 in Dayton ohio - thankful for my awesome childhood
I was 14, and loved the family gatherings during the holidays. Sure do miss them
Back when 60 Minutes was a great show with Mike Wallace, Morley Safer, Bob Simon, Ed Bradley, Harry Reasoner, Steve Kroft and who can ever forget Andy Rooney!
Andy Rooney. Yes
Loved Andy Rooney...
I remember that Baretta TV guide cover!
I got his autograph around the same time on a TV guide, it’s in a box in storage.
Me too
I was 9 years old loved Saturday morning cartoons.
Best times of our lives I sure miss them. Today is so corrupt.
So corrupt, mean-spirited, and demoralized.
Getting the TV guide every week was one of the most exciting things I remember as a kid.
Same here. Couldn't wait for my mom to get home from food shopping.
I was a little boy in 1975, but i remember these days. So glad I do.
Yup, in 1975 a car wasn't complete unless it had an 8-track player and a CB radio, lol. 😁👍 Merry 1975 Christmas Fred 🤣👍👍👍
Dec 1975 seems like both yesterday and a million years ago.
I graduated from college, got engaged, and got 14 job offers.
My favorite movie of those listed here is Killer Elite.
I watched the Cowboys win with my dad. We sure did yell when #12 Roger Staubach completed the one and only Hail Mary pass to #88 Drew Pearson.
Later on we sat 2 pews behind the Staubach family at Mass. Very nice people and he really helped build Dallas with his commercial real estate company.
Then I met Drew Pearson when he helped recruit new members for the Chamber of Commerce. Very kind person but he was heartbroken that he had not been placed in the Cowboys Ring of Honor. That did happen [finally!] before he passed away.
Too bad it was offensive pass interference by Drew Pearson. I've watched the replay over and over and there is no way the Vikings defensive back just fell down, he was pushed. I'm sure you disagree, but that's OK. I accept that you'll never admit the truth. BTW, I was also a big admirer of Roger Staubach and ran into him on the street in SF in the early 90's, he was a very nice man.
I was only 11, but I remember 75 like it was yesterday, too!😊
Martha, you're so right about that being the one and only Hail Mary. Subsequent passes called Hail Marys are very different.
@@guerralg63 I hope it was a wonderful year for you!
And I hope your future years are happy and healthy.
@@FredFlixThanks, Fred!
I was 18 and it was my senior year of high school..those were the days.
I was 12 and love KC & sunshine band. I would sneak into my sisters bedroom when she wasn’t home to listen to this new Boston album.
Give me a Coke & a pack of chocolate Dolly Madison Zingers & I am one happy camper watching any Charlie Brown special.
Don't forget when Almond Joy, Mound and York Peppermint Patties were products of the Peter-Paul.
I remember going off-campus in 11th grade during lunch break to stop by the 7/11 to pick up a pack of Zingers (yellow) and a can of coke (or a Dr. Pepper!) and then go eat "lunch" on someone's nearby front lawn with friends.
And Caravelle !@@theoriginalmr.j1422
We're living through the 70's again but without the good music and movies.
Well, we thankfully are not sending American troops overseas like we did in Vietnam, and we also have no 'Watergate' - scale political scandal to deal with (altho plenty of smaller-scale scandals, for sure).
I was 10 in 1975 ..my favorite cartoon pink panther and Scooby-Doo,favorite t.v. show was Night Stalker,I was in the Boy Scouts and went to summer camp and church camp. There was only 4 channels most went off at midnight. Wasn’t into rock music and never heard of Elvis, and looked forward to watching Jerry Lewis telethons. My favorite subject in school was history.Jaws was the scariest movie ever saw.
I was also 10. Hated the telethon. It meant end of summer.
Great to watch these videos, but they make me somewhat sad. All of my close family that could share memories of these times are gone now.
I was only 4 but I remember things were so different back then wake up Saturday morning and getting to watch cartoons. And sure remember bellbottoms
Remember 'em? Heck, I wore 'em! So silly.
😄 Saturday cartoons were a joy. I was nine.
The news was real back then
Those were the days my friend we thought they'd never end, but ultimately they did. Sigh. Thank you Fred for bringing these memories back to life.😊
You're welcome, jbaker.
The Baretta theme song was one of the coolest in TV shows of the day! I'm not surprised Coca Cola sponsored the annual showing of Charlie Brown Christmas because in the original production of it they eventually had to remove the ads within the intro for Coke in subsequent showings! Another big urban legend was going on at the time about the Ohio Players' "Love Roller Coaster" having the alleged scream in it being from "the girl that got stabbed to death!" Haha!
Sammy Davis Jr. Don’t do the crime if you can’t pay the time..
@@_merggWrong.... Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
Yeah..don't do it!!
I remember this year and these commercials like yesterday. Wasnt watching sports yet. I was 7yrs old this x-mas holiday season!
Ahh man. Touches my heart watching this. But this was rough Christmas- I came down with the mumps and an awful fever. Was in bed for two weeks. Guess when it cleared up? The day before I went back to school. Haha. Remember the goofy Convoy song … always liked KC and the Sunshine Band.
I remember the bowl season as well as that NFL playoff season. My Dad was a big Cowboy fan and we saw that Hail Mary live. I believe I watched the Fiesta Bowl from my sick bed, as well as South Carolina losing in the Tangerine.
So despite being so sick - I remain nostalgic … because I was blessed to have a family around me all alive and well and a house full of love.
Very nice comment, Chris.
Getting the mumps during vacation - that is a bitter shame. I remember getting mumps, chickenpox, measles and rubella in elementary school (6th grade was 1971 for me) and got all four during school time - 2 week vacations to lounge in bed reading and have my mom deliver chicken soup and ice cream on a bed tray.
I remember that month. Many ups and downs. Friends, family, college etc. whew. confusion and heartache. sucks to be 18 sometimes. sometimes not.
I was 18, fresh out of Army basic and just arrived in South Korea for a 13 month tour of duty. Interesting times.
This is my favorite RUclips channel. Thank you very much.😊
That's nice to know, Jan.
That Chuck Wagon commercial made me want to be a dog! 😅
I was always somewhat frustrated that the dog never caught that waggon.
It really bothered me.
@@stephencarter7266 now that you mention it, I did too...😢 I kept thinking there should be a campfire scene with the wagon people and dog all together
Amazing, my tongue-in-cheek comment was deleted. What a humorless society social media is turning us into.

I watch it once a year. I like A Charlie Brown Christmas it's huge every year. I like the theme with Vince Guaraldi, it's a classic from the 70's.
Styx " Equinox " is probably my favorite Styx album. Suite Madame Blue is the best song on the album. My next favorite is Pieces of Eight album. Only got to see Styx once. Where the hell did the time go.
The last Styx album with guitarist John Curulewski (RIP). Certainly their best album to that point.
They are actually still around, albeit with a different line-up.
4 of my top 5 films came out of the 1974-75 period. Jaws, Taking of Pelham 123, One Flew over the Cuckoos Next and Barry Lyndon. A wonderful period in cinema history
Things I remember from my childhood in the 70’s.
Riding my bike and roller skating everywhere.
Great music
Feeling safe
Wonderful tv shows
Great movies and the drive in

Jr high
High school
Camping with my family

well the whole month of december when you're 7 the only thing pretty much on your mind is christmas, and what december would be complete without ole chuck and the gang with that pitiful little tree and the coolest dance number. the chuckwagon commercials where among my favorite back then, not sure why exactly but they were. thanks again sir.

I was 12 years old in 1975 and I loved the 70’s. The music was great. I experienced the disco era from 1977 to the end of 1979. Great movies, Jaws, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Sinatra at The Garden! Johnny Carson was always on at 11:30pm, Summer vacations down the shore! I had a great time! 😊

Minutes of respite in a complicated world. This channel is one of the few I truly look forward to watching 👍🏻
Much appreciated, Dave.
I am literally in tears…joy and sadness
1975 😢😮 was one the best years of my life I was 10 years old 😮😢 didn’t have the greatest wealth 😮😢 but was so rich in love 🥰 and happiness , those things r more important then money 💴
Looking at the label on that copy of the "Convoy" single, it appears that someone cut himself in for double royalties. Under the song title it says "C.W. McCall-Bill Fries-Chip Davis". Bill Fries was C.W.'s real name. And co-writer Louis "Chip" Davis was the founder of classical fusion group Mannheim Steamroller.
So bizarre that over here in Australia, Melbourne, most of this was part of our diet as youngsters as well!
I can’t believe the original Hail Mary play!
I know! I never thought I'd see that again! My dad is probably watching a continuous loop of it with Jesus right now! 😊
Wow, 9:21 brings back memories. I saved and saved to buy that radio. $33 was a lot to a kid back then. Imagine being able to listen to a tv show on the go! It was amazing. Also, used it to listen while doing homework since of course, there was only one tv and it was in the living room.
Did not know Target was around in the U.S. in 1975. I did not hear about it until after FedMart closed in the 1980s. Thanks for the memories as always.
Same here.
Tang ... and we mixed it with tap water. 2 great albums by Styx and AC/DC that I wouldn't hear for another 3 years. Saw the Hindenberg ... oh the humanity of having endured watching it. Thanks, Fred
Good point on that movie, BC.
It was on RUclips, and I lasted though about 10 minutes 🙂🙃

AC/DC was completely unknown at that time in the U.S. and that Australian release of TNT would not be something you would’ve seen.
why did it take a long time to reach USA ?
Wow The very first stereo entertainment components I ever bought were Lafayette brand. With 600 watts per channel babycakes.
1975, 14 and Lived in Florida , we went to see Jaws at the theater. Didn’t go in the water rest of the year. 😬🤣
I was watching a youtube of the Cowsills special from 1969 with Buddy Ebsen and at the beginning they said "because of this special presentation Me and Mrs McCabe or something would not be seen tonight"... I think its the first time I saw one of those kind of things in a long, long time -- and then you had the Rhoda won't be seen -- that use to be a staple on television if there was a "special event" but now i guess they just figure you can see the grid and figure out something isnt on hahaha... Your channel is really great. I've been subscribed for 2 weeks and enjoyed so many memories. I turned 10 in May of '75. I really loved seeing the Chuck Wagon commercial and hearing 'Convoy' by C.W. McCall. I remember getting so pumped, every time it played on the radio. 😂 Thanks, Fred.
That Chuck Wagon commercial really made an impression. While I remember many of the other ads, the Chuck Wagon one gave me a jolt when I was watching this - really transported back to that time in a visceral way. That ad must have really spoken to me back then!
@@betsyj59 The thing I've really noticed from watching these...is that the commercials had a certain charm to them, that is sorely missing today. I mean, these companies produced them without the knowledge that people would relive them years in the future. They had thought and creativity. Very few commercials today, will have the same appeal, 50 years from now.
I remember.
Hi, Fred: Nothing to say about this one. Don't let that stop me. Last week, June 4 2024 I received my first coin with the king's head on it. It was a 2023 nickel and I spoke to a friend in England who told me that they still have yet to see that on their coins. Thank you for the video.
