Wow this is the most in-depth video I've seen on the evolve on the pa platform. Please share this on the Hobie Pro Angler Owners Facebook Group I feel the members could benefit from seeing your video on there. Keep up the good work - C.R
Long time no see! Where are you going to stow the drive when you are using the pedal's once you get to where you want to fish? Also looking forward to the 360 rigging video when you get the yak!
Great review Tim, Torqeedo packages are too out of my budget. I got the watersnake T-24 for my pedal drive for trolling the great lakes when I'm exhausted, and the motorguide xi-3 55lb bow motor for spotlock, and fishing along banks.
Hi Tim, did your newport replace the evolve? I’m on west coast Canada and am setting up a PA 14 with electric soon. Would you recommend the evolve over the Newport? Do you carry the evolve as a backup motor? Thanks, Wyatt
The Evolve doesn't work with the Hobie PA 360, so I initially got the NK-180S for the 360. I've since sold the Evolve and I will be replacing it with another NK-180S for my other PA 14 (180). I recommend the Newport NK-180S over the Evolve as it gives you more options; motor to location then use the drive to move around....without having pull the Evolve out and store it somewhere.
@@TimPercyKayakFishing thanks so much Tim. The Newport will be great on the stern. Because I’m fishing ocean and may be in trouble with a motor failure I’m planning to mount a second motor on the bow as well. I’ve been considering the 24V haswing cayman for the bow. Have you ever seen the Newport used as a bow mount?
@@wkillam I haven't seen one mounted on the bow, yet. BTW, I make rear mounts for the PA's. I have The Single; you can mount the NK-180S or the Torqeedo or a Power-Pole and I make the Triple Threat; you can mount the NK-180S or Torqeedo and 2 Power-Poles (you can mount just one Power-Pole if that's all you have). I also make the Eletronic Mounting Plate for the front hatch and a H-Rail Anchor Wizard mount.
@@TimPercyKayakFishing I’m interested in the single rear mount for sure. Won’t be anchored as mostly to deep. What’s the electronic fromt hatch piece? Can i find pics of each somewhere?
I haven't tested it out myself yet, but my understanding it only last a few hours. Guys say they can go all day on the 915...some say they have done 2 days, depending on the speed.
Depending on speed and amount of time you actually use it, it should last the day. I was using it to get from Point A to Point B, then use my Mirage Drive all the other time. I've since sold the Evolve and went with the Newport Vessels NK-180S, this way I don't have to switch the Evolve and the Mirage Drive back and forth.
Nice to see you back. Great install.
Thank you

Does Torqueedo still make the Evolve? Not on their Site?
Great to have you back! great vid also
Thanks. I have some on the water footage that I need to take time editing to put some videos together.
@@TimPercyKayakFishing Cool can't wait to watch them.

It will fits in the front hatch with the bucket out.
Good to hear from you again, Tim! Is there an adapter to make it fit on the PA 360?
Unfortunately, the Evolve will not work with the 360. The only option for a Torqeedo is one of their rear mount units.

I got this one at a reasonable price.

How many hours if you’re running a 320wh battery with this motor?

@@TimPercyKayakFishing thanks I’m plan on picking up a used motor but it comes with the 320 with battery I guess the 915 is the way to go
@@timmynguyen9374 Yes, you can purchase the 915 separate. Like I mention, I have the 320 as well, but I will only use it as a backup.
How was your run time on the evolve? Will the big 933 battery last a full day offshore?
Depending on speed and amount of time you actually use it, it should last the day. I was using it to get from Point A to Point B, then use my Mirage Drive all the other time. HI , just wondering Can this kit fit on my Hobie compass ?/
thank you
Yes, the Torqeedo Evolve will fit in any Hobie with the Mirage drive, just not the 360 Drive.
Is still avaiable? Where can i buy it?
You can check with any of the Hobie dealers.
