Yesterday was released in August of 1965 - so about a year and a half after America was introduced to The Beatles - they were evolving and developing musically at such a rapid pace and would continue to do so throughout the decade - amazing amount of great music they generated in just about 7 years ( although I know they were together longer than that - just not yet discovered)
And did you know the melody came to Paul in a dream and he couldn't find the lyric for a long time? The original title was "Scrambled eggs", and the original lyric went, "Scrambled eggs... oh, my darling, how I love your legs!" Fortunately he found something better. This is a truly beautiful song.
Too many people do not realize just how many great songs the Beatles wrote and performed. I do not know of another group that has such a vast collection. It takes quite a few hours to go A to Z through all of their songs.
It’s a lot of music, but well worth every second of listening time you invest in it! I remember their first appearance on Ed Sullivan! I was a very young teenager, and so excited. My step-dad yelled at me to turn it down, so my mom said, “turn it up”, then stood up, started jumping up and down, and cheering and screaming with me! He didn’t speak to us for two days, and neither of us cared!💜😂
For the short time they were together they put out an amazing amount of music of remarkable quality. So incredibly innovative. George Martin helped them achieve that. They could all sing lead and wrote some amazing songs!
ItsallGood I never felt one was better. They both did totally different things musically, and were completely different in sounds. There is no confusion about who’s music you’re listening to!
Another British group with a vast collection of songs and international success are The Bee Gees....for 5 decades they wrote amazing songs for themselves and many other artists....they have sold over 220 million records which puts them in the top ten of best selling British artists of all time
"Something" ...by the Beatles.... George Harrison wrote it about Pattie Boyd...... Frank Sinatra famously labelled it “the greatest love song of the past 50 years"
I like the love song by Paul McCartney Maybe I’m Amazed even better. But yes, if there are beautiful love songs in the world, they most likely were written by one of those three.
Paul dreamed the music to this song. He woke up one morning and played it. Thought it must have been something he heard. Played the tune to everyone asking if they knew it. He called it "Scrambled Egg" before the lyrics came to him.
When I first heard this song as a fifteen year old, I didn't like it because it sounded familiar. My mother (who was born in Inverness) told me Paul had plagiarised it from a Scottish folk song written around 1900. She used to sing me the song as a lullaby. The first line is "When we were young and gay all our cares seemed so far away". I guess Paul must have heard the song as a child too. Here in Perth, Western Australia the song was number 1 for thirteen weeks. I've always preferred The Stones "As Tears Go By". That was during a period when I hated The Stones.
I remember the first time I heard his song, the beatles were on a TV show and the 3 members left the stage Leaving Paul on his own with his guitar and he sang yesterday I'd never heard anything so beautiful and it made me cry that was 1965 and still to this day when I hear this song it transports me back and brings a tear to my eye . Yesterday is the most covered song of all time with over 3,000 versions.
That's Paul McCartney singing. I know that Beatles reactions are taken down a lot due to copyright. The Beatles wrote 227 songs; here is a list of some of my favorites: "In My Life", "Something", "Blackbird" (another sung by Paul), "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Mother Nature's Son", "Golden Slumbers", "The Long and Winding Road." Hope you can check them out.
@@billythedog-309 I did see the news report that it was found. I just haven't gotten around to listening to it yet. Sounds like it might be good, though!
I believe that would also be John Lennon's favorite songs that he sang. It definitely has to be in the top 10 of The Beatles catalog of 185-200 songs, aside from the great covers that they did also.
To sit in a Paul McCartney concert with thousands of other people, all of us singing along to this, with tears on many faces, is one of the most amazing experiences of a lifetime.
Beautiful Beatles songs: "Let It Be", "Something", "In My LIfe", Strawberry Fields", "The Long and Winding Road" Eleanor Rigby", "Michelle", "Oh Darling", "Here Comes the Sun", "Hey Jude", "Yesterday", "If I Fell", "Across the Universe", "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away. They very greatly in sounds, styles and subjects. Their early ones were 3 minutes or less, because that is what radio played.
It's McCartney-Solo with a classic string-quartett (maybe the first in this consequent style in Rock-Music), released as an official Beatles-Track in 1965. One more time, an unforgettable Beatles-melody. A little sentimental song, but the Beatles extended with this ballad in this unusual structure the spectrum of Rock and Pop again. And in the next decades, legions of musicians all over the world covered "Yesterday".
The Beatles are the greatest group of musicians to ever live. What they accomplished in a short period of time together was nothing short of spectacular. They influenced music, art, clothing, hairstyles and changed the way music could be recorded, by making each album more complex and beautiful.
The Beatles had so many different sounds, you never knew what was going to "drop" next, it's not like today, with 0 internet, 0 leaks they(any band) could go to a club and play the new music and other then the people at the club hardly anybody new until the radio stations got it...and 0 Autotune!
Yesterday was voted the No. 1 pop song of all time by MTV and Rolling Stone magazine. It is also one of the most recorded songs in the history of popular music. Its entry in Guinness World Records states that, by January 1986, 1,600 cover versions had been made. Fun fact: Although written by Lennon-McCartney, Paul is the only Beatle to be on this recording. John, Ringo and George sat out while they brought in two violins, a viola and a cello, all played by other musicians.
Thanks for telling us that this was an unblocked video. I kept looking at your subs total wondering what you were talking about. haha. I think we've all, well most of us have spent days listening to the Beatles, Jay. Thanks for your reaction. Enjoyed watching. Take care and be well. Peace.
Short but so sweet, Paul McCartney’s finest hour and in my personal top twenty. This is the song that many artists wish they had written, as evidenced by it also being the most covered song in musical history. Listen to ‘This boy’ from the early 60’s, where both John and Paul create the perfect love song.🥂
Incredible song. Not only has this song been covered more than any other song from the rock & roll era, it also holds the record for being the most played song in radio broadcast history. Years ago I saw an interview with a famous classical musician and when the conversation turned to modern music the interviewer asked that musician if there were any modern rock & roll songs that he believed would still be listened to hundreds of years in the future, the way Beethoven and Mozart are still listened to today, and without hesitation he answered "Yesterday".
Many songwriters have called this one of the best songs ever written. This is primarily a Paul solo recording, but he credited the entire group. I love how you said you would probably be at 10K when the video would drop...and here you are approaching 90K!! Good job, J!
Originally written as break-up ballad, people has noted that it could easily be about McCartney's mother passing away when he was only 14, which McCartney said he could easily see the song be about that as well.
I think you are confusing this song with "Let It Be". Paul was having a very difficult time in his life and one night his mother, Mary McCartney came to him in a dream telling him that everything was going to be alright, just LET IT BE. He wrote the song as soon as he woke up the next morning. YESTERDAY to came to Paul during a dream. The melody sounded so familiar that he thought it was already a song he had heard. After weeks of asking other people if they had heard this tune, and what is is called, only to find that nobody had ever heard it he decided to come up with some lyrics for the tune. Paul would tend to throw together non sense lyric when figuring out a song, and the first verse of YESTERDAY started out; "Scrambled eggs- I like toast and jam with scrambled eggs..." Once he settled on; "YESTERDAY", he said the song just kind of wrote itself. Every line just fell into place.

Love Beatles reactions more than anything in the world. My favourite band. My Mum was friends with John Lennon’s first wife and by extension the members. She attended Liverpool Art School while they were there. She watched them play every day at the Cavern Club before they were famous. She has amazing stories. My favourites Blackbird, In My Life, A Day in the Life, Something, I Will, Julia, If I Fell, While my Guitar Gently Weeps,
I'm a bit jealous! I can't imagine, having grown up with songs such as this, listening to them for the first time. Enjoying watching you go on the journey.
They defined the '60s and continued to influence generations! I recall my mother and stepfather saying what most older folks said back then--'It'll never last....' 😉
First time I heard this song when I was 12 I deeply impressed by Paul’s voice and this melody and guitar And I started guitar Thanks man your reaction is beautiful And reminds me in those days 45years ago☺️
Yesterday, is one of the most beautiful and poetic love/breakup songs ever written. It was voted the most perfect pop song ever written and i never tire of listening to it. I was 14 years old when it came out, so i experienced all the Beatles musical career. They changed the course of music history and their music will forever live on.
Please react to more of their catalog! Some of my favorites include “Blackbird”, “In My Life”, “Something”, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” (the original version), “Help!”, “Twist & Shout”, “Free As a Bird”
The Beatles refused to release this song as a single in the UK because it was so different from the type of sound they were known for. Their American record label did release it as a single in the US and of course it became a number one hit.
Hi sweetie! You should listen to the Beatles, Norwegian Wood, Rocky Raccoon, and Maxwell’s Silver Hammer! You would probably benefit from hearing their entire White Album and Abby Road! They’re both iconic! But, react to Aaron Neville’s, Tell It Like It Is, first! I am too old to wait until you listen to all the Beatles hits!😂💜. Be blessed!
Paul is an amazing - versatile - and powerful singer. NoOW - if you want to hear Paul sing in the exact opposite style, you absolutely will want to check out the ULTRA-POWERFUL, " Monkberry Moon Delight " : )
Thank you for playing my favourite Beatles song, Paul had so much emotion in his voice that was so subtle it always gets to me. It reminds me of my beloved Grandmother who lived with us until she passed, she was so loving and very gentle and taught me a teenager so much. Her loss hit us all very hard and this song always made Mum cry as it reminded her of her Mother in Law too. Goodnight and God bless you all, love hugs and peace Mary-Ellen UK
From their record entitled "Help" which was released in 1965. Yes, Paul McCartney sang Yesterday.........a timeless classic. The Beatles wrote and performed so many classics. Greatest rock band EVER!
They have so many great songs, that you probably could spend 6 months doing one song a day, with the Beatles. I still have all their albums(I think) in excellent condition. The first album I ever purchased was a Beatle album and my second was Pink Floyd Dark side of the Moon. Been listening to their songs since the early seventies. Some more Beatle songs to react to. This Boy, I Should Have Known Better, Norwegian Wood, Magical Mystery Tour, Lady Madonna. Have Fun!
This is probably the most frequently played song ever. Parents went from criticizing the Beatles’ music and hairstyles to playing their music in orchestral and other genres of renditions. This song was everywhere, on the radio, in elevators, grocery stores, retail stores, doctors offices. The oldest generation of the 60’s caught up with my younger generation, lol.
What I would really like to thank the Beatles for is, most of the great rockers that came after said, when they first saw the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show, they knew what they wanted to do. So thanks for inspiring decades of musicians!
I cried at the theater when he met the fisherman (don’t want to spoil it for those who haven’t seen it). Not just crying, but ugly sobbing I was trying to hide because I was embarrassed, lol! Don’t know why that hit me so hard.
wow big classic of theirs like most of their songs...this one like many, is universal....many covered it too. They have many beauties and masterpieces :)"In My Life", The Long and Winding Road' another beauty.' 'I'll Follow the Sun', I'll Be Back'..many, many more
Whoa...was going back to like older reactions '& came upon this. Glad you got to hear it; The Beatles, with George Martin in the studio, could do no wrong. This one is on the list of peoples' favorites, a wonderful melody with relatable to all lyrics.
One of the most touching Beatles songs is "In My Life". John Lennon wrote it for his Auntie Mimi, who had raised him since childhood (when his mother was unable to look after him). It is all about how he compares his love for her to all the things he's seen and done. When you hear it, knowing the story of its origins, it is such a moving song.
Another beautiful Beatles song is “Something”. Paul is such an amazing singer. Check out “Maybe I’m Amazed” from his first solo album. It was written for his wife Linda, who sadly passed away.

You find all types of songs with the Beatles. One of the main reasons they are so loved and admired.
Listen to "Here comes the Sun"
In fact, just listen to the entire 'Abbey Road' album. Arguably the greatest album in the history of modern popular music! :)
@@Codex7777 when I was little, my Mom used to play Abbey Road for my Brother and I to fall asleep too. To this day, I don't know what's on the back
Love Beatles reactions more than anything in the world. My favourite band. My Mum was friends with John Lennon’s first wife and by extension the members. She attended Liverpool Art School while they were there. She watched them play every day at the Cavern Club before they were famous. She has amazing stories.
My favourites Blackbird, In My Life, A Day in the Life, Something, I Will, Julia, If I Fell, While my Guitar Gently Weeps,
In 1987 in Arlington, Virginia, I met a couple who had seen them play at The Cavern. I was in awe! 😄💓
Loved listening to what I think is one if their best songs. I would have gladly listened again 😁
I'm a bit jealous! I can't imagine, having grown up with songs such as this, listening to them for the first time. Enjoying watching you go on the journey.
They defined the '60s and continued to influence generations! I recall my mother and stepfather saying what most older folks said back then--'It'll never last....' 😉
If you want to listen to the song twice, I will watch it too! 🤣🤣🤣
First time I heard this song when I was 12 I deeply impressed by Paul’s voice and this melody and guitar
And I started guitar
Thanks man your reaction is beautiful
And reminds me in those days 45years ago☺️
Yesterday, is one of the most beautiful and poetic love/breakup songs ever written. It was voted the most perfect pop song ever written and i never tire of listening to it. I was 14 years old when it came out, so i experienced all the Beatles musical career. They changed the course of music history and their music will forever live on.
Please react to more of their catalog! Some of my favorites include “Blackbird”, “In My Life”, “Something”, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” (the original version), “Help!”, “Twist & Shout”, “Free As a Bird”
The Beatles were my father's favourite band. Every time I hear them I remember him. I didn't even get to say goodbye.
this is one of their songs which I get to the end and alwyas just start it again, it's wonderful
My favorite also. Beautful beautiful lyrics .
Such a beautiful song....goosebumps. I was about 7 when their first album came out. My heart was stolen when I heard Till There Was You 💜
The Beatles refused to release this song as a single in the UK because it was so different from the type of sound they were known for. Their American record label did release it as a single in the US and of course it became a number one hit.
Transported again to another day! Love, love this song! 🎻🎻🎻🎻🎧
Be blessed!
This is by most reports the most covered song in the English language.
I've never got tired of this song, listened to it for 20 years now.
Paul is an amazing - versatile - and powerful singer. NoOW - if you want to hear Paul sing in the exact opposite style, you absolutely will want to check out the ULTRA-POWERFUL, " Monkberry Moon Delight " : )
You could react to the Beatles every day for the rest of your the life. The variety and quality of their catalogue is unmatched by any other artist.
Just remember this, The Beatles where #1, and everyone else is jockey for position. Yesterday is played, in the world every 20 seconds.
This was a huge hit when it came out. Everyone could relate!
Having two older brothers every day of my childhood our home was filled with beatles songs, I still love them today
This is a musical masterpiece! So thought Provoking & beautifully performed 💖
I've always Loved this song!
You could spend YEARS on the Beatles. So glad to see they are still impacting our youth!!
Have Fun!
An absolute classic, by the one of the greatest bands! More Beatles Jay. Try Nowhere Man or Eleanor Rigby. There are so many others too!
We had to learn this song in school. Music history in the 80s. But I knew It before. My family is musician. Great song. Greetings from Germany.
Beautiful song i have always loved it
This is probably the most frequently played song ever.
Paul was around 22 or 23 when he wrote this song. Such a beautiful song with wonderful instrumentation and heartfelt lyrics.
What I would really like to thank the Beatles for is, most of the great rockers that came after said, when they first saw the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show, they knew what they wanted to do. So thanks for inspiring decades of musicians!
The movie “Yesterday” is pretty good. A guy wakes up to be the only person in the world to know about The Beatles.
If there was no Beatles, I wouldn't want to wake up...
I cried at the theater when he met the fisherman (don’t want to spoil it for those who haven’t seen it). Not just crying, but ugly sobbing I was trying to hide because I was embarrassed, lol! Don’t know why that hit me so hard.
Just think of how much money that man could make by "writing" all their songs then.
I really went into that movie with a bad attitude. It quickly won me over.
I think it's a great movie.
@@randomperson-dy6kj I know someone who audibly gasped in the theatre when the main character in the movie met "the fisherman."
I started listening to the Beatles in 1970, I was only 7 years old but they have remained my favorite band
wow big classic of theirs like most of their songs...this one like many, is universal....many covered it too. They have many beauties and masterpieces :)"In My Life", The Long and Winding Road' another beauty.' 'I'll Follow the Sun', I'll Be Back'..many, many more
One of the most famous songs in history...hands down...how lucky you are to experience it for the first time.
Whoa...was going back to like older reactions '& came upon this.
Glad you got to hear it; The Beatles, with George Martin in the studio, could do no wrong. This one is on the list of peoples' favorites, a wonderful melody with relatable to all lyrics.
She's Leaving Home is another beautiful Beatles song which features strings in the background
💕💕One of my favourite Beatles songs. Me and my brother are huge fans thanks to my daddy.
If you wanna hear a soothing John-only Beatles song, listen to 'Julia'. Two other soothing John-sung songs are 'In My Life' and 'Dear Prudence'.
Beautiful poetry... love it!
Another beautiful Beatles song is “Something”. Paul is such an amazing singer. Check out “Maybe I’m Amazed” from his first solo album. It was written for his wife Linda, who sadly passed away.
Another beautiful melodic song from the beatles is "And I love her"
I remember my dad listening to beatles songs...and playing this one in the car on road trips.
Paul. I was afforded the pleasure to see Sir Paul in concert. Amazing.
Now you know why this band was the toppermost of the poppermost!
This song has been covered by more than 2,200 artist, by far the most in history. A true classic for the ages.
