Normally I would say that for a group this popular, you would have to at least heard the song somewhere even if you didn't remember hearing it, like in a movie soundtrack or a TV commercial. However, The Beatles to this day almost never licensed any of their recordings for movies or commercials. They were that popular that they didn't need the money from licensing deals like that.
And Pauls Godson. It also refers to Yoko Ono. Remember to let her into your heart, then you can start to make it better. It's a lot of good advice and wisdom to a young boy in confusing times.

Xcris crosX The Drug meaning was thought up by fans but McCartney always maintained it was a song giving advice to Julien to let Yoko into his heart. "Let it out and let it in" can refer to Crying and Comfort and "Let her under your skin" could just be the metaphorical sense of letting someone into your heart. Paul was always up front about the drug references in his songs as simple allusions, but he never said that about Hey Jude. It's a song for a 5 year old. He likely wouldn't want those references in it. And no it's not like Yellow Submarine promoting smoking.

Paul wrote Hey Jude (originally Hey Jules) for John Lennon's son after John had left his family for Yoko Ono. It came to him as he was driving out to console John's wife Cynthia and 5 year old son Julian.
you123ST The Beatles were influenced from so many different sources. Chuck Berry was a huge influence, however, Paul’s dad was a musician that played in jazz and dance bands when he was younger, so that was also an influence. Also, Liverpool was a major port and the members of the Beatles said they got records brought from the US by sailors, so they had access to music not heard on the radio or sold in stores in England. County music was a huge influence on their sound, especially evident in their early rockabilly sound on some songs. Paul, George and John were fans of Carl Perkins. In my opinion, the wide variety of influences directly impacted how incredible their work was. You could hear Helter Skelter and Julia on the same album. That is contrast.
This song is special to me because I had my first "slow dance" to it. I was a mess by the time it was over. Every time i hear it, I return to that spot.
On the odd chance that you may not have heard ELO, you could have something close to that. And if you have, then you just have to go a bit further back in time - look up the Idle Race - my guess is you'll find yourself listening to music nearly on the level of Beatles, for the first time.
I cried because this is amazing. I wish my friends appreciated the Beatles this much. They all make fun of me. But the Beatles are my loves and I just AGHHH thank you.
"Paul McCartney made sure that Jimi Hendrix was not excluded in a rock festival by stating that they would not attend the festival if Jimi was not there" this was because in one of the festivals where both Jimi and The Beatles were meant to perform the festival management threatened to drop Jimi because of his skin color, The Beatles weren't only great musicians but also great people and great friends!
Jayvee, you mention the diverse audience that is there singing along with The Beatles? Well dig this about the greatest band in music history: "The Beatles showed their support for the US civil rights movement by refusing to play in front of segregated audiences, a contract shows. The document, which is to be auctioned next week, relates a 1965 concert at the Cow Palace in California. Signed by manager Brian Epstein, it specifies that The Beatles "not be required to perform in front of a segregated audience". The Beatles had previously taken a public stand on civil rights in 1964, when they refused to perform at a segregated concert at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida. City officials relented, allowing the stadium to be integrated, and the band took to the stage. "We never play to segregated audiences and we aren't going to start now," said John Lennon. "I'd sooner lose our appearance money." The struggle for racial equality in America later inspired Paul McCartney to write Blackbird.
Mike K-To this day,I still get incredibly emotional when listening to two particular Beatles songs:The Long and Winding Road, and Blackbird.Such powerful songs that were beautifully written.☺️
Growing up with The Beatles guide so many young people across the world in how to treat others. Not that these guys were saints by any means. What made them great was there ability to not only grow as musicians but as humans.
I live in Little Rock Arkansas where 9 black children had to have the President intervene with the National Guard after our Governor wouldn't let them go to Central High School thus Blackbird was written.
Paul’s singing at the end is like the “exalt” part of a live gospel choir performance where the soloist ad libs snd gives the audience permission to express their own emotions
The Beatles are such a huge influence on music in general and many bands in particular, I grew up in the 60’s hearing them on the radio all the time, Here’s a few this old guy can recommend to you, Nowhere Man, Help, Michelle, Penny Lane, Please Please Me, When I’m Sixty Four, Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, A Day in the Life, And I could go on stick a dart in any of those and you’ve got great music to listen to.

The Beatles were together as a band for 12 years. Their recording careers lasted 9 years (1961-1970) but they were together as a group, John, Paul and George since 1958. Ringo joined in 1962. "My Bonnie", The Beatles' first commercially-released record, featured English singer Tony Sheridan on lead vocals and was recorded in Hamburg in 1961.
ldchappell1 I said recording. And I don’t count the Pete Best years when discussing their history, as they weren’t truly the “ Beatles “ until Ringo joined. They didn’t have official recordings that ended up on a record with Ringo until 62’
@@jnixa1010 They were "The Beatles" beginning in 1960. Give me a break. Of course I admire Ringo's work in the Beatles, but his inclusion in the band was not that significant to their creative output. Out of 213 songs recorded, he only composed or sang lead on 11 tracks. When John was asked in 1966 "Do you consider Ringo Starr to be the best pop drummer in the world." John responded "He's not even the best drummer in The Beatles."
ldchappell1 they’ve also said they never would have been as good without Ringo. John was joking, and btw, you didn’t put the full quote in there. I mean, John also said everything the Beatles did sucked, too, you believe that also? Yoko and heroin had him saying a lot of shit he didn’t truly believe. Beatles didn’t record in ‘60, btw. My initial statement was recording... they started recording albums in studio with George Martin in 62’. I’m right, you’re wrong
Actually, it's 3rd. The original single of Don McClean's "American Pie" (1971) had the first half of the song on side "A" & the rest on side "B", adding up to about 8 & a half minutes. "MacArthur's Park" (Richard Harris, 1968) was almost half a minute longer than "Hey, Jude". In fairness, though, The Beatles set a new precedent with "Hey, Jude" before the other two songs were released, opening the door for especially long songs.
@@QueenSnowPea I did some further checking. Both Rare Earth's "Get Ready" single & Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" single were severely edited compared to the album versions (both singles were around 3:00, give or take a few seconds) & neither got anywhere near #1 on the pop charts (at least in the U.S., though "Get Ready" apparently topped the R&B charts). I also discovered, to my surprise, that "MacArthur's Park" actually only made it to #2, not #1. Apparently, only "American Pie" both reached #1 &, because of how the original single was designed, was the longest #1 song ever, though I guess "Hey, Jude" is the longest for one side of a 7". Btw, the only reason I even know about that original "American Pie" single is that I actually had it growing up. Of course, if we're including all types of singles, then that has to include 12" singles (which were generally considerably longer) & then the discussion would get into other formats & so forth, until it practically becomes rather pointless, so, for this particular debate, I guess "Hey, Jude" & "American Pie" can split the difference.
@@laustcawz2089 Hey Jude was on one side of a single. Were as American Pie's A side was the one played and given credit for being #1 is what I read somewhere. As far as MacArthur's Park goes, It hit 2 on Billboard not #1.

Until you discover XTC.
Jazzie Red Beethoven isn’t a band
Roger Patton XXX? Umm No in my opinion because the Beatles had more talent than that mumble rapper
Strange, that's what my dad said about Glen Miller.
Thank God for music throughout the ages!
“Jude” was short name for John Lennon’s son, Julian.
The first name the song Is hey Jules
By the way, did you know that the song lucy in the sky with diamonds is based after a picture his son Julian drew?
FelineRock68088 yes I think Lucy was one of his school classmates. 😀
Hangoverr eh?
@@agustinmasco5517 nop it's for John's son after John and his mother broke up
Best songwriters in history, so many amazing songs . They inspired generations of musicians.
Paul wrote Hey Jude (originally Hey Jules) for John Lennon's son after John had left his family for Yoko Ono. It came to him as he was driving out to console John's wife Cynthia and 5 year old son Julian.
The Beatles the most influential band of all time, it's easy to see why
but who influenced the beatles?
@@you123ST I think mostly 50's music
you123ST The Beatles were influenced from so many different sources.
I would put queen and Beatles at the same level
I’m more of a tier person the singular best
This song is special to me because I had my first "slow dance" to it. I was a mess by the time it was over. Every time i hear it, I return to that spot.
If I could only unhear the beatles and listen to their songs for the first time, again.
That would be my perfect world. ☮️
They're not friends then. The Beatles are a great band, and it's always wonderful seeing the younger generation appreciate real music.
Imagine that situation, but in a country when nobody talks english... Well, welcome to my life.. xd (I speak spanish by the way)
SAMEEEE they call me old and granny 😔
Your friends are fools.. These songs are timeless and will be played for aslong as music is played
The Beatles (at their best) are far better than the majority of music made in the past decade.
Ahh their not bad they only changed a culture of teenagers all over the World !!!
And inspired every rock band of the seventies
NYsun flower that's what i was going to say,
"Paul McCartney made sure that Jimi Hendrix was not excluded in a rock festival by stating that they would not attend the festival if Jimi was not there"
this was because in one of the festivals where both Jimi and The Beatles were meant to perform the festival management threatened to drop Jimi because of his skin color, The Beatles weren't only great musicians but also great people and great friends!
Jayvee, you mention the diverse audience that is there singing along with The Beatles? Well dig this about the greatest band in music history:
"The Beatles showed their support for the US civil rights movement by refusing to play in front of segregated audiences, a contract shows.
The whole Beatles catalog is FIRE! Almost anything you do will not only be different, but will still feel fresh.
big106razor so true!
What I wouldn't give to hear the Beatles for the first time again.
Try “come together” by the beatles. John lennon sings the lead vocals.
So many great tunes. "No Where Man" maybe my favorite. ❤

"first time hearing Hey Jude challenge"
Was he from middle earth or something?
They were way ahead of their time, and were only together recording 8 years. Unreal
And 59 years since the Beatles ended
"Hey Jude" holds the record for the longest song to hit #1 at 7mins.11 seconds.. 1968
@@laustcawz2089 what about In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. Also the song Get Ready by Rare Earth took up one whole side of the album.
American pie is better than hey Jude tho, I luv hey Jude but ddon McLean's song is a absolute masterpiece
@@laustcawz2089 Hey Jude was on one side of a single. Were as American Pie's A side was the one played and given credit for being #1 is what I read somewhere. As far as MacArthur's Park goes, It hit 2 on Billboard not #1.
Hearing Paul McCartney headline Glastonbury in 2022 and the whole crowd singing along with him, is pure joy. He’s turned eighty, 80😳! Unbelievable performance, worth checking it out xx
The whole Beatles collection Yoooo you’re gonna be listening for a long time 😂😘
Start at the beginning, say maybe the hamburg tapes (or Cavern) and work your way up through the changes to Abbey Road.
"I feel like I'm in a church right now" That's so beautifully said because that is EXACTLY what the Beatles make me feel like :))
They were a perfect combination - three great songwriters, three great voices, really good instrumentalists, and the perfect producer in George Martin. The gold standard against which we measure all others.
I feel like this is how everyone looked the first time they listened to the Beatles properly
Just like in "Yesterday" :)
Raquel Campos Ferreira
Yeah! It’s such a good movie :)
Absolutely! I remember going to a friend's house because somebody had a copy of the new Beatles album, and we would sit there and listen to it as if it were food and we were starving. We would just absorb it over and over again.
Mindboggling that there are people who have never heard The Beatles. Makes you wonder exactly how many people in the world still haven't.

"I've never heard the Beatles before". Oh man. There are so MANY AMAZING songs. I can't even pick one from any era. How about 'Eleanor Rigby' at random? Or "She Loves You" for great contrast? Or "Yesterday"?
Yes to Eleanor Rigby! Probably my favorite. You can really tell from that one that they had a good education in classical music.
All of the Abbey road album!
This gives me a chill man, good to see young people reacting like this.
The Beatles came on the scene and started the revolution in music and influenced so many.
Ted Frey still influencing people today.
Queen as well. Ray Charles did to. A lot of excellent musicians do.
Every single Beatles song is worthy!! I can't believe you've not listened to the Beatles before now. MIND BLOWN!!!
React to “Maybe I’m Amazed” by him. Paul McCartney. You’ll love that one if you love this one
Be sure to listen to the original, studio version. The live one is okay, but the studio version is MAGIC.
You could pick one of another hundred Beatles songs and they'd all be just about as good, though admittedly this one was a monster hit in 1968. Also, you should keep in mind they weren't just any band; they may be the most musically influential band of all time.
“They’re building a vibe, man.” In those words, I realized you understand.
When he’s vibing to Paul Mcartney 😂

No One will ever be as great as the Beatles. I’m so grateful I listened to them since I was a little kid. I feel as though they raised me.

Did you watch Thomas the Tank Engine when you were a little boy? The drummer Ringo was the original Thomas voice. Just something random for you! Keep up the great work ✌️🇦🇺😊
Wow this video blew up quickly
Love this. You will love them. Please react to. A Day in Life, a song that takes places lol. They have so many great songs. Jude, is John's son Julian. John is the one with round glasses.
My favorite Carpool Karaoke is with Paul McCartney. The end is awesome. You will get how much the Beatles are still loved to this day.
Lady Madonna has a similar vibe to Hey Jude
First time I heard hey jude, I was speechless, my mouth was wide open, and thats when I knew what the greatest song was

Check out The Beatles - Let It Be - my fav of all their songs
Adam...Let It Be was our high school graduation song in 1970. It still has a very special place in my ❤.
Seriously man, Thank you. I'm hearing this song for the first time again too.

They are the greatest of all time
The greatest not one of the greatest
I have heard this song for about almost all my life and when I hear it, it still gives me goosebumps and stuff like that. Each time I hear it, I somehow appreciate it even more and more.
Hey Jude is a masterpiece! I first started listening to the Beatles in college when I was 19 and I was the only black person I knew who realized and understood how great and influential The Beatles were/are and why they are one of, if not, the greatest thing to ever happen to music. I would recommend any of the Beatles songs but "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band" album is the best... enjoy
The White Album/The Beatles album is pretty good.
I'm partial to "Rubber Soul" myself.
Saw the movie...Wayne says" Excellent"
Beatles had so many hits! absolutely ridiculous how famous they were...
Might be best selling song of the 60s. BEATLES had 20 number 1 songs in 7 years. No one else is close.
This was their most successful single. Amazing...

This made my heart happy 💕 never too late to discover The Beatles! Hey Jude is iconic! 💕
The Beatles are my dad‘s fave band! The were a creative force, releasing more than 10 albums, which is a lot, considering that they weren’t together as a band that long.
Among my favorite songs are Eleanor Rigby, Help, In My Life, and Blackbird.
There is also a really sweet Beatles tribute movie, which was only released about maybe a month ago called Yesterday. Hey Jude played while the credits rolled and my dad and I stayed to the end to sing along, because who can help it when the nananas start?
